My whuffo best friend....for now...hopefully he does his tandem this weekend...doesn't seem to understand how important the weather is to a skydiver. I say 70% of us have the dz's location forcast bookmarked for ease of knowing. He thinks that's not the case...hence the point of this poll. Thanks for voting! Im 6'1 You may be right man. Im just going off my logbook..thats all. I know when i went to the tunnel i was on the net until i finally adjusted my body in order to create lift for myself. Maybe that was my problem causing my fall rate to be so fast. Im not sure. Im just happy my jump on saturday went as well as it did. I stopped at level three. They made me do level 2. I dont have to jump three again so im on level 4 now. John Rich-without gear im 205 pounds. Steve-My first level 2 jump states, per my logbook, that my fall rate was 150+. Let me remind you. My initial level 2 aff jump i managed to escape both of my instructors. My body position was horrible..according to them. I was able to remain stable the entire dive though...just with my arms and legs where they were apparently caused me to fall a lot faster than i should have been. They could not catch me. One of them recorded 150 mph. Im going by what my logbook states. Jen-Ive used the same jumpsuit every aff jump i have done thus far. Its the only one the dz has that fits me really good. Trust me..i wouldnt voluntarily wear a bright purple jumpsuit...lol. I do take skydiving seriously. So many people have helped me along the way so i want to be the best that i can be so i can help the newbies when i reach that stage. I know im far from it..but theres no hurt in trying to get there sooner! I just did a recurrency aff jump on saturday and i didnt think to ask my instructors this. My main problem was my fall rate. It was typically 150+. I went to the tunnel to work on correcting this. On saturday my fall rate was 114...according to my main instructors alti. My question is..how much do the instructors jumping with me affect MY fall rate. DO the slow it down/speed it up? Im asking this for my own satisfaction..not for any other reason than that. Thanks! This is not how you thaw meat/poultry. IF you use hot water you will start the cooking process which will royally screw up whatever it is you are trying to make. The best method for defrosting, besides a microwave, is running it under cool water. I had to resurrect this thread. I jsut got finished this movie and i will have to agree with mama. OMFG! I havent seen a horror/suspense movie made like this in a LONG time. It was all complete gore like the SAW movies are(although they are good for the gore factor). Im glad the storyline wasnt the typical "masked killer" type that most movies are these days. Keifer Sutherland is an underrated actor. I have always like him since The Lost Boys. Im happy he is making a comeback. I dont do this very often at all but i have to give this movie a 10. The storyline, acting, and fright sequences..all superb! If its my own place i never wear shoes on carpet. Its pointless to me. You wear footwear becasue the surface you are walking on would hurt your feet. Carpet feels good to me! I know i work in florida but with being a marine contractor and working right on a major river it makes it painfully cold if its windy at the same time..and youa re out working it in. Its nice to have a nice and warm shop to go back to for break and lunch time! Dont get too close to those heaters though. They put out REALLLLLLLLLY hot air REALLLLLLLLLLY fast! So as some of you know im playing hockey again starting on the 26th. Well i found a new stick that i really wanted online..its a Bauer/Nike Supreme.. but i didnt want to pay for the super fast shipping and i dont think it would be here by the 26th. Plus the fact that this week is kinda tight with money. Anyways im on my way home from work and i get a call from my coworker dave. He tells me that he is at Play It Again sports getting baseballs for his two kids and he asked me what kind of stick i was looking for. Well...he bought it for me and told me that i can pay him back when i have it. Suprisingly it was cheaper at the store than online...which is amazing. Online i foudn it for 59 dollars plus 12 for shipping because its an oversized item. They had it there for 29 dollars! They are the only sports store in northeast florida that actually stocks brand name hockey gear! Ive had a great night so far! My roommate and i(the good one) went skating like i do every sunday night. Well rick tells me that he is thinking of joining the police force upon getting out of the navy in a few months. Now when i first got out i looked at the Jacksonville Sheriff's Office website at the requirements to become a police officer. It specifically stated that you need a completed associates degree or have 4 years military experince working in a security related job. The security related job had me cancelled out. I was a cook in the navy. So i threw that idea out. Well....we said otherwise that you just need military experience period. So theres a clay country sheriff that stays at the rink for security. We started talking to him and as it turns out all you need is 2 years military experience...thats it. It doesnt matter what you did in the military as long as you were discharged honorable. Im going to do a little more research but im giving serious thought to doing it considering i wanted to do it almost 2 years ago! Im qualified through the military to carry everything from a 9mm to a M16 so he said that will help out immensely also. Pretty much he told me that if it came down to it and it was between me and someone with no military time and a degree they would take me. So hell yeah! Then on top of that...i have been searching everywhere for an adult rollerhockey league in jacksonville since i got here in 2005. They didnt exist. Well i asked to talk to a manager of the rink to see if he knew of anything. Apparently my timing was impeccable. The manager i talked to was actually the manager of the rink in Mandarin and they are actually starting a league on the 26th of this month. They are having a meeting tomorrow night at 7:30. Im so excited! I havent play organized hockey in over 8 years. A couple pick up games and intramural stuff here and there....but nothing league structured and sanctioned. Another hell yeah! My life is actually starting to get better!!! Dude...i feel ya. My last serious relationship has been over for almost a year and every month or so ill get a text from her asking me to come over and fix her car or do something to help her out. She told me when we were still together that if we ever broke up we could still have sex. Yeah right...not my style. I wont go into great detail about hte break up( if ya search ya might find the thread..lol) but yeah i want nothing to do with her...and ive told her that numerous times and she still continues to try and contact me. I recently found out that she has a new man and she has been with him since like a month after i left her....and she STILL tries to contact me..lol. You have 2 options. Continue dealing with what you are now or change your phone number and be selective on who you give it to. Meaning i wouldnt give it to anyone that has contact with her.
