The FBI Fingerprint System: It was my understanding in 1967 that even though a central system had been established in Washington for the storage of Prints that the existing computer system in use now was not operational until the 1970's. In 1967 not all of the states and prisons had complied - and it was the 70's before this would happen. The operational central system in place for the print cards in Washington was a manual one in 1967 the last time Duane was incarcerated When the computer system started there were errors and to this day not all of the prints in the manual system have been checked against those in the computer system. I have maintained that more than one prisoner in the Jefferson system managed to get his prints changed in the system through the corruption at Jefferson. This would mean that the print card sent to the FBI central system would not be the correct prints of that individual. The prints used by the computers system were the last known prints for that individual. Old print cards from Folsom, SanQuentin, McNeil, Canon City and Columbia along with military prints need to be checked against the prints in the current system for Duane Weber. Military prints? You guys out there who served in WW II - were you fingerprinted ?????? In the 40's. All of this useless information being provided by the FBI in the media is not helping to find out who Cooper was. If they are going to disqualify an individual then it needs to be precise and backed up with data based not only on the physical evidence but on the history of that evidence. The FBI never revealed, but denied Duane's criminal background - and told me that Duane had never been in McNeil and SanQuentin and Folsom. The research of a jounalist and myself produced the papers to prove his prison record. I feel all of the current media is a smoke screen - the FBI and CIA and others know who Cooper was - otherwise they would have made a more concerted effort regarding Duane's past criminal history. Good Grief! You guys have been busy. I don't understand a lot of what you guys are going on about, but I have to get my two SIMPLE cents in on this - Duane always said KISS - (keep it simply stupid.) I had read about the paper sack only once and it was in a spoof book - did not realize that he actually did board with a bag. Lunch, supplies, smokes, gloves or a tie and clasp to plant? . A tie with Multiple DNA and you can rule Duane out without even knowing if that was the tie he was wearing! The only reason I say this is because an individual contacted me yrs ago - and this is one of the things he kept hammering me with -that the tie and the clasp was meant to incriminate another party. I discounted most of this person's information - except the fact that he was able to put Duane and his wife in Mn. for a short period of time. The wife of the day - told me when I questioned her about this that she had forgot about being there because it was only for a few wks in the late 60's when they were running from the FBI. The rest of that story is not for a forum and the FBI is aware of this individual. The money coming up at Tena's bar - ha. If you go to the Columbia - say across for the Portland Airport or an old motel that was near the Old bridge over to Portland. Throw a bag of money - a paper sack with just some of the money- into the Columbia. He may even have put some rocks in with it. It would float down the river and the river bends down near the bar and the package would have got caught up in other debrie - water soaked enough that it set in at Tena's and then got covered with debrie. Remember that it was fall when we went there in 1979. It had all winter to accumulate the few inches of sand over it...according to Bryan all he did was rake his hands over the area - he was NOT digging. I have been to Tena's bar and that seems to be a shallow area in the spot I was told the money was found and there appeared to be a marsh type area on the Oregon side.. In other areas I was able to go to I did not see what I would call a beach only at Tena's. Ckret, why did Flybounce call you Bob way back when? He was already aware of you - this was not in your profile...... NOW - I have a question for you Ckret and one that NEEDS to be answered. Was there not a shoe shine guy set up at the airport in 1971? Do you know who he was (his name) and if he left the area a few years later? I have a REASON for needing this answer. When Duane and I lived in Mobile, Al. we went to N. Orleans - and he was looking for someone... and the told me something about the man. We did not find the man. Again this is not something I discuss in a forum and I have already said too much. Somewhere along the path someone said that the ticket would have been faded and unreadable, but you have the broading pass and you can read that. I just remember what I said out loud to Duane - I do not remember if it had a name. Out-loud I stated that it was an OLD ticket from Portland to Seattle. On the copy of the boarding pass you presented - it had a name on it - was that written in by the ticket agent or did the passenger sign it? I do not remember if there was a name - but I remember that it seemed to have some red carbon print. I remember telling Duane that 1971 was the first time I had ever flown in a commercial plane....maybe why I remembered the date. [reply wont' change the fact that the fBI closed the case on Duane, his DNA doesn't match, his prints don't match, he can't be placed in Oregon, he can't be placed in a harness, and Florence Schaffner said he isnt' Cooper. I guess, now, he is just one of 1,000 suspects, hoping to be the man. But, the real Cooper, doesn't want the press, or the jail time, or his assets taken away. Folks this post was made by a member of this group several months ago. Who is this person that would state these things when I nor the general population knew anything about Duane's DNA not matching the supposed DNA that was retrieved?? How could this person know if Florence had seen a picture of Duane??? The FBI needs to check this individual out? What do you think? Duane's prints nor DNA matched, but the FBI has ignored my plea regarding my request into the prints - as I have stated before (other prisoners in Jefferson managed to change their prints in the system of a corrupt prison and got away). Duane's prints need to be cross checked with his prints from the other prisons he resided in. How does this person who made the statement about the DNA know that it didn't match???? - no one but the FBI knew when he made that statement in Sept. As for Florence - I have never shown her a picture and the only one I know that was shown to her was e-mailed to a cell phone and she viewed it as a phone pic with no explanation of his age or the fact that most of the photos of Duane from the era of the skyjacking have been destroyed. This was the NY magazine writer. Anything else she may have been shown - I would not have a clue as to what pic was shown or what explanation was made regarding the pic. I was told she said he was "too Old". Obviously no explanation of age was given to her as Coffelt who she ID'ed was older than Duane. FBI are you listening? Can anyone fill me in on any available skyjumping near the Pyramid Lake area in the 60's? Legal or Illegal activity. Anyone have any pictures of any skydiving in that area for any time before 1970. Any information regarding the training of prisoners as firejumpers or rangers in a program for Folsom in the late 50's will also be appreciated. What happened to our avatars? You have one and all I have is an X in a box! Very confusing. Now to the subject: Since agent Carr is so busy doing interviews let us talk about what is not being done - NOTE CARR IS NOT MENTIONING THE SMOKE BUTTS! They don't want the general public to know they lost evidence. 1. There has been NO mention of the raincoat. Are they now going to say it doen't exist? 2. Did they test the cords where Cooper would have held them to cut them - if so did that DNA match the DNA from the tie? 3. Have they even given a thought to the knife that cut the cords? 4. What about DNA from the parts of the chute that he would have to touch to open it in order to access the cords. 5. Cooper did NOT walk out that stairwell - Would someone who knows the plane please explain that to Carr. We know that there would have been a change in the cabin pressure when the stair-well was lowered and then a bump of some sort when he let go of the stair-well. Would the aft-stairs have had a rebound when he let go? 6. WHY are they using only the old unreliable composite? It seems like they do not really want to know who Cooper was. . While Carr has been busy with the TV and Newspapers I have been busy with the facts at hand. The truth has now been recorded on film and tape to be used in the event that I am not around when the time comes. Two full days! I also included things that I do not talk about here or elsewhere - events and clues that could cause me a lot of trouble if I ever to took them public. Pressure Bump: There would have been compression felt by the plane when the aftstairs had fully deployed. Cooper then BACKED down the stairway holding on to the rails. Then there would have been a blip when he let go of the stairway. He held onto that stariway because he was looking for a landmark. He did let go till he had to. I have the weather report for that night - and there was visibility. As for extreme cold (it would only have been for the time he held on and for about 30 seconds of free fall.) He missed his landing site. but he made do and he knew the area like the back of his hand. The chute he buried behind a tool shed at a tower (from the things he said and where he took me I believe this to be a fire tower). There was no tower there in 1979 and he thought he had taken a wrong road (path) - we didn't have time to go back. The shed he said was were they stored their tools - this is what made me think Fire Tower. He pointed North of there and commented something about from how far you could see the tower light. This area was forested. He said something about the path north of the tower, but I do not remember what he said. Geeze, I just remembered what he said - God, I was a dumb bunny! He sure as hell couldn't make it out of town with a bundle on him or be seen carrying a bundle. Therefore he stashed it in different places - why? - just encase someone found the stash. Don't put all your eggs in on basket. I have talked in the past about the flood having disloged or excavation having dislodge one of the packages - why he couldn't find all of it and how he knew it was worthless when I read the article to him in the paper. The river curves below the area he buried it in - and if the bucket or whatever he had it in was dislodged by the building of some very nice homes (there was an old cottage there in 1971) and between the excavation or flood it would have been in the water. I am sure he had a land mark and that land mark was probably gone also as was the cabin in 1979. The money is then in the bottom of the Columbia after the flood or development and ends up at Tena's Reef ---- BUT that does not explain How he knew the condition of the bills and the paper bag he threw away about 30 minutes after we left the location up-stream. What does make sense is that he found part of it. That money is found four or five months later? (I only remember that we were there in the late fall.) Again I have explained all of this before including where he got the bucket - and a change of clothing...would like to know who owned that cabin on the river in 1971. Was from what I was told (by a resident or the area) a seasonal cabin for recreation .

Florence positively Identified Coffelt yrs ago. - this was in a two segment article written in I believe 1985 by Byron Brown for a magazine out of Las Vegas called the Las Vegan Magazine. She also I according to the writer ID'ed the Northwest employee.

Thanksgiving Eve. brings so many memories back to me. I recalled Thanksgiving weekend in Ft. Collins, Co ... and a house we rented there in the late 70's. This would have been 1979 - after our trip to Washington earlier that yr. This was not a night of dreams - he was very drunk. He was talking about his feet being very cold - I just didn't understand why he sat there looking at the wallpaper and talking to himself. When I asked if he was alright - he started talking about the wallpaper and silly little stories about what the patterns reminded him of. He kept taking his slippers off and on - saying "I never want to be that cold again". Again he was very drunk--- I was not finding it amusing. Now, when I think back on the yrs. I remember how important Thanksgiving and Christmas were to him. I am not sure what he would want me to do with all of this - all this information I have in my head about him and his past that he did not tell me. I cannot conceded to the FBI - they have not let me know if the FBI file prints are the same prints that he had in SanQuentin and Folsom and McNeil - do those prints match the FBI file which is prints taken from his last incarcination in Jefferson? Why can't the FBI just make copies of his old prints and compare them to the last prints that became part of the computer system (They do not match). The stewardess - needs to see the photos, I did not reveal on-line, but I can't get her to talk to me. I have called, but whoever answers the phone claims she is not Florence Shaffner. The writer with N.Y. Mgz has photos of his subject and calls me from a busy restaurant asking me to email to his phone pics of Duane. He said that she said "He's too Old." Ms Shaffner needs to know I do not have photos closer to the crime time line except for the three not so very good polaroid shots. These photos I acquired from the ex-wife, but Duane had told me that all pictures of him had been lost. Others are prison records and the younger ones are from his brother who shared what he had with me. The brother was 10 yrs older and lived with his grandparents. I need to talk to her about his voice and let her hear a tape. I need to talk to both of them regarding - grammar and expressions. It takes things like tonight to bring memories back. I am sure they are as fed up as I am of being made a fool of in the media. I had sworn not to post in the forum, but I need help in getting pictures to Florence and being able to sit down with her. If she could do this for a N.Y. newswriter - why not for me? I remember a plane trip we took while living in Co.-(from 1978 - to 1980) - We were flying to ATL. I do not recall what airlines we were flying, but Duane got real nervous - what he said made me think he had been involved with this stewardess on the flight and he didn't want her to recognize him. He didn't order a drink as usual and he kept his face in a magazine. I even remember what I wore on that flight...but, not why we were going to ATL. On the return trip he was his old self and I found out later that he had stashed something (which could have put me in prison) in a gift he got me. I never forgave him for that - but, I did let it go. This Thanksgiving brought old memories back to me - but, why? The stewardess "thing", he was a risk-taker, the gamble he took on stashing something in my belongings.....I don't know...... I have recalled this incident before, but do not know if I ever shared it with anyone. Perhaps now the memory nags at me because, just maybe that stewardess on that fight was one of the stewardesses on the 1971 flight. I have not been able to let go - and cannot until I get the answers from the FBI that I need and to meet both stewardesses. To see that hotel registration I have begged for and to learn more about the boat incident he talked about in WA. Interesting idea? Why doesn't someone do a book with pictures and dates of all of the famous skydivers who have done these amazing jumps. I don't mean Cooper or moviestars, but real skydivers - a portrait/picture book with short storys about each diver. I would buy the book and I bet lots of people would. This is the statement I am releasing to the public. It has to be said before I close the door on this. The statement: DNA EVIDENCE I have to question the validity of DNA testing done to exclude individuals concerning the D. B. Cooper incident in 1971. In the past 36 years the evidence may have been compromised. Considering that the study of DNA did not exist until the late 1980’s, it is highly unlikely that the evidence was preserved in a manner that would have protected the DNA. I therefore, would question any DNA evidence that excluded anyone without further investigation in what items were used to extract DNA and VERIFICATION that the CHAIN OF CUSTODY was maintained throughout the last 36 yrs, when dealing with and handling this item. The only DNA evidence I consider valid would be the cigarette butts. BUT, the FBI can’t find them. There are too many questions unanswered. My own limited research and what Duane told me - leaves me with little doubt he was D.B. Cooper. This is the most difficult post I have ever made. I got a phone call this afternoon - from the FBI. I have been informed that DNA has been extracted from the necktie. This DNA is incomplete and can be used only to rule a suspect out, but is not conclusive. The DNA that I provided to the FBI in 2003 - does not match the DNA found on the tie. They had several different hits on the DNA that I provide therefore they are sure that they have isolated the DNA for Duane L. Weber. What I do not understand is - if it is only a part of the DNA - how that works to rule suspects out? Also - the tie was handled by FBI agents and other personnel because DNA was not available in 1971. The person who made the tie and the sales clerk - did they find other DNA on the tie? I have lots of question, but I am sure the FBI will have the answers. As I told the agent - nothing takes away other facts. The ticket, the stub, the bag, the places he took me and what he told me. Many of you could come up with many theories - Duane was the man on the ground, Duane had to have known who Cooper was, Duane's familiarity with the area - the list could go on and on - including the conspiracy theory - which has been brought to me time and time again. Right now there is nothing I can say - except that I did question the agent about the cigarette butts and felt they would be the only DNA that could not be compromised. They are working on the retrival of the butts, but at this time NO CIGARETTES. Remember the prior agent said the butts had been lost and then refuted that statement in another phone call. At this time I do not know what to say or how to feel. I know I feel relieved, but also sad, very sad. I regret that I have spent 12 yrs of my life so intently on this search and that I forgot how to live my life just for me. I guess the "Joker" played his cards right - the joke was on me. It is evident - I am having a difficult time dealing with this right now, but I will go on with what is left of my life - right now I am just not sure how. My hearts tells me he will always be Dan Cooper - my heart tells me he was Dan Cooper, but the FBI's technology says he is not.

It was well written, but not worth all of the hype the writer put me thru. His suspect is a former Northwest Airlines employee by the name of Kenneth Peter Christiansen. This writer went to see the stewardess and you can read her reactions in the article. She had this same reaction to another suspect by the name of Coffelt (the article on Coffelt I have. but it is not available online). In that article she identifies Coffelt just as she identified this man as being Cooper. The article on Coffelt was written in 1983 and published in the Las Vegan Magazine in Nov. of that yrs. In this old article she describes Cooper as a "terribly lonesome man". She is also quoted in 1983 as saying that Cooper had a "longer, fuller face" than the composite. In that old article she positively identifies Bryant "Jack" Coffelt as being Cooper. It is difficult to believe this writer gave her the description of this man....5 ft 8 inches, 150lbs, hazel eyes. This in no way matches any description given by any witness in 1971 including Shaffner. She was shown a pic of Duane, but I do not know what photo she was shown - according to the writer he told me she said "he was too Old". Well, maybe she was looking at a picture of him as a older man. She said Duane's forehead was too narrow - she was not informed the picture was made by someone much shorter than Duane and that makes a difference (his forehead was NOT narrow). Since pictures of Duane from the late 60's and early 70's are almost non-existent I have to work with the photos I have. The picture printed in the NewYork Magazine shows a man who looks much like the old composite - but surprisingly enough if Shaffner believe this man is Cooper - she needs to see photos I have never made public. Of course, they show him as a older man. The writer pressed me for the location of Tina Mucklow the younger stewardess, but I promised her that NO ONE would ever find her though me and I kept my promise. This writer promised me things he never delivered to get information - he did a good job on the article, but I think his methods are very underhanded ....that's the new generation of writers. If anyone knows how to get the old Las Vegan article please let me know. That needs to go on-line with a link to it, but I have never found it. New Suspect on the horizon. It may very well be the same suspect that was presented to me about 4 yrs ago by an attorney in the N.E, but it never made the media. I would assume he felt he didn't had enough to go public. I didn't go public for 5 yrs with what I had...I just chewed on it and kept researching along with the help of several individuals. I feel used! I gave a lot of information to this person who contacted me, but he NEVER provided what he promised me (a picture)....sounds like the Cooper trolls or groupies who pestered this thread for a long time. If I can get to WA. and find those places he took me to (one I know has had a lot of development since 2001 when I tried to retrace the trip he took me on and the site on the river was already developed...I didn't know the dates of the development, but there had also been a flood). Either he put that money in the river, or it was dislodged from the excavating or the flood took it from its hiding place - the areas he took me to are up-stream from the location the money was found in. The Columbia flows to the West. What is to be found in the forest - parts of the parachute. He took me to a place and pointed out something. It was an area where at one time had been a tower (I don't know what kind of tower) and told me about a shed that was near it used for tool storage - He said he buried something behind it. In retrospect I believe that to be the chute and/or briefcase. More likely the chute - after he cut away a piece of memorabilia...that being the item that I found in his things that was part of a parachute. There is another place where a barn was and a cement block building - like an old dairy - there was a cottage behind the cement building.. Have never been able to remember exactly what he said about that place....other than to say he used to know someone who lived there. He did say something else, but it is lost to me forever. Well, you have my take on what could be found - there should be treasure hunters willing to take on a search with metal detectors. I never disclosed the locations of these places for fear of people damaging personal property and my being held liable for the damage. If there is a reliable group of people in WA willing to undertake this (with permission from the property owners) - I will share the locations, but not in the public media. I did disclose these things to the FBI 12 yrs ago and ignored.. I pushed this to the back of my mind although you will find my mention if it in my early accounts to the FBI and others. Jerry Thomas was supposed to check it out, but he is the one who told me that the Washougal could never be on my left from a certain location. When I went to WA in 2001 I found the area -with the help of the people I mentioned in an earlier post. The experts (Jerry Thomas and others I contacted) told me it didn't exist . I was then later able to locate it on a map. All I had when I was in WA. in 2001 was my visual memory. NO ONE really wants this case solved, but me and my time is running out fast. Good News, Bad News Bears: Got some news regarding something happening in the very near future, but I don't want to get my hopes up until it actually happens. I have been thru this before and nothing materialized...so, I will wait until I know something for certain. I haven't been on lately since I am NOT feeling well at all - somedays it is all I can do to take care of myself, the dog and get to the Drs. The days I have to go shopping are very trying....Emotionally and physically I am failing. I just want to finish this assignment, Duane inadvertantly placed in my hands and hope that someone has heard me. I have made a lot of noise, but perhaps not in the right places. If anyone has any suggestion about how to get the FBI to research the things I have pointed out, let me know.

Some of the places we went to were unusual and some things he said did not seem to be a norm. The kid is a grown man now with two families of his own to suppport now - families of his own to support now. He has been trying to sell the bills to the highest bidder. Just to get out of trouble. Thank you for the information. It provided me with a general idea of just what I would be looking at. . I won't need any help financially, but it was nice of you to offer. On some of the commercial fights we flew during our marriage Duane made some odd comments and when in WA made statements that I feel are related to land marks from a plane. They talk about the weather being bad, but the weather report was not that bad - I have the weather reports - used for aviation. The visibility was good - with areas of rain and wind gusts. One seems to forget that the weather might be bad in Seattle, but not in Vancouver or East of that area. Fronts move and the plane was moving. I have also spoke with several individuals who lived in the area and remembered the night well. Two of them claimed to hear the plane over head and they did not live in the flight pattern.. I know they were telling the truth (they were married to each other at that time) and later divorced. They contacted the FBI regarding something the husband saw the next morning, but basically ignored by the FBI. The FBI simply didn't believe Cooper could have made it to that area. We now know. of course, that the plane flew East of the intended route due to the weather. The report states otherwise, but in those days a pilot would go off course to avoid bad weather. It was a common practice and they had a man on the plane with a bomb and they certainly didn't want turbulence. I know Duane enough to know that he had a target and I do believe he told me his target - in a round about way. Hence why he named a specific destination, but they fouled him up by telling him they need to go to Reno because of the gas. If there is a woman pilot out there that would be great - it would be possible to share a room and that would keep the expenses down.
