  1. "They say I have ADD but I don't understa... Hey look! A chicken!"
  2. The benefits of your degree are largely dependent upon what you are willing to make them. If you spent all that time in school with the expectation that once you got your degree people would just line up to give you a job then it really doesn't matter what your degree is in, you are bound to be dissappointed. However, if you are willing to take that degree, whetever it is, an use it as an example of what you can achieve then you will be making use of it, regardless of whether you job is related to your degree. The world doesn't owe you a thing just because you went to college. So you have to start at the bottom of the ladder...so what? Almost everyone does. As an employer the things I valued most in an employee were dedication to the job. Not neccessarily to the company, but to the job. Get a job. Give it 100% effort. Show up for work on time every day (NO EXCEPTIONS!). Keep your job, don't bounce from job-to-job. (Would you hire someone who had 4 different jobs in the last 18-24 months?) If you do these things I can promise you that it won't be long before a potential employer looks at your resume and thinks to himself, "This guy has what it takes. He takes his job seriously, he's not lazy, and he is smart enough and dedicated enough to get a college degree. I think I'll hire him." I was 40 when I went back to school to get my degree. In two more years I'll have that degree. And like every other freshly minted college grad I'll be starting at the bottom. Granted, my years of experience will give me an advantage, but in the end I just did things backwards than most.
  3. Veronza Bowers Jr. is not a political prisoner. He is incarcerated for murder, not for his political beliefs.
  4. Candy Dulfer. Ok, so she plays alto sax and not guitar but she's damn good at it and one damn fine lookin' woman!
  5. Everything you listed is a pretty big hurdle to jump. I agree that "laser pistols" won't be on the frontlines anytime soon, if at all. But think of this... If you knew your adversary had them you would have to go to great lengths to protect against them. Anything you didn't want a hole burned through would have to meet one of the conditions you stated. That in itself would be a real PIA.
  6. SRV couldn't read/write music. Not a note.
  7. I was waiting for the singer to jump into the mosh pit full of Rotts. Definitly better talent than a lot on the radio these days.
  8. Ok, I gave in. I cast a vote for JD based on my feeling that his songs are a lot easier for a beginner guitar player to learn. Dang if that ain't a tough choice. I'm just glad you didn't throw Jim Croce into the mix. The it would have been an even tougher choice. "If you could read my mind" "I'm sorry" "Time in a bottle"
  9. I refuse to vote until I can vote for both. Though they were/are folk singers, their music is too different from each other to have a fair comparison.
  10. It's all fun and games until it results in an idiot or sex maniac for a president, which has been the case since 1993. The process eliminates worthy candidates. I agree with that 100%.
  11. It's going to be interesting to see if the Dems can hurt themselves more the the Rebubs can, and vice versa. Self destruction in politics is so much fun to watch. Anybody have some popcorn?
  12. Yes! The Munsters theme song. A group called "White Pigs" did a cover of the song back in the early '80s that really kicks ass.
  13. That's a pretty clear statement. Identify yourself (This is my house, can I help you?) and put your hands up into a non-threatening position. (Out from your sides in plain veiw would be good.) Nowhere does he suggest putting your hands up over your head like you were being robbed by Billy the Kid. That implication comes from your posts, if not directly then implied.
  14. Just when I thought it was safe to go back in the water.
  15. Really. This girls writing makes a lot more sense.
  16. Don't eat them while drinking beer. They are really gross if they come back up.
  17. Don't I know it. My friends house was ransacked while they were at work. The cops had the right house number and almost had the right street. With humans running the system mistakes are bound to happen. Best we can do is make every effort to minimize the number. I am sure there cases where the cops get carried away and over zealous. As far as the case this thread is about I am not willing to place blame anywhere until all the facts are out, and that probably won't be for a while.
  18. I knew it! Finally someone agrees with me!
  19. Huh? I don't eat that good. So even if I had a cat you can bet he wouldn't either.
  20. Not knowing the entire set of facts didn't stop you frommaking that smart-aleck remark. I find the number of times they missed "vexing". Nope, he fucked up. Me being alive must be "vexing" to you though since I wouldn't be if not for having a handgun with me on one occasion. So yeah, I do feel a hell of a lot safer when armed. Being defensless never did sheep much good. Agreed. Unless that cop has identified himself first and tells me to do so and/or has his weapon pointed in my direction.
  21. I don't know what it was other than green, in my fridge when I was hungry, and it didn't smell. The crust was kinda fuzzy.
  22. I don't know about that. I think we can fairly conclude that having a gun in the home for self-defense may well backfire on you. And so can doing your own plumbing repairs, lawn mowing, etc. Leave it to you to pull some out of context meaning from this. I was refering to a judgement of fault, not of whether homeowners having guns is good or bad. If you're going to reply to someone's post at least stay on subject.
