  1. are you trying to say there are not millions of guns in the hands of criminals? Guns are Bad M-kay. I think (I may be wrong) that what he was saying is that criminals are, by definition, non-law abiding people. If they are willing to kill another human being for their wallet, do you really think they care about some law that says they can't have a gun? There are thousands of gun laws in place. Unfortunately they are often used as a political tool, i.e. the law is passed but not enforced, then it is claimed that more laws are needed because the first one didn't work.
  2. Ok, I'll try to explain this as simple as I can. The video playing in the background was recorded before the actual broadcast. That means they used footage from earlier in the day...maybe an hour, maybe one minute.....as background for their news anchor. You cannot use the background video as any kind of timeline simply because you don't know when it was filmed. All we can tell is that it was filmed sometime between when the towers fell and when #7 fell, and then replayed as background for the newscast. It don't mean nuthin'. I like the so-called "experts" who say the building fell in a controlled demolition manner. Why? Because it fell straight down? That's the way gravity works, it pulls things toward the center of the earth. It doesn't pull sideways, it doesn't pull up. It pulls pretty much straight down. If the people who operate these CT websites would put that much time and effort into finding altrnative energy sources we would probably be oil-independent by now.

According to the article in NSS News, the Naica caves were discovered in 1912 and the mining company almost immediately closed off all access to avoid pillage and accidents. Very few people have had the chance to visit, almost all have been there on research. The crystals formed underwater and were submerged until mining operations started. The caves were discovered by accident from inside the mine. Once mining operations cease, including dewatering operations, the caves will flood again. This is expected to happen in a few years.
  4. Or SSDS. Same Shit, Different Shovel
  5. The first link is someones idea of a sick joke and not connected in any way to the NRA. The second link, I fail to see any connection at all to what is discussed in this thread. (Voting in Austin on May 25, 2005?) The third link is just someone's opinion, not facts. You are entitled to feel any way you want about our Constitution. Since you don't care for it then it's probably best you don't live here. Yes, I have pointed a gun in self defense. Twice. I'm still here because I was able to protect myself, so I think it would be safe to assume that it did help my safety.
  6. Charlton Heston probably assumed it was going to be a respectable interview. Instead, what he got was Michael Moore spending most of the time trying to get him to admit that the NRA was, in some way, responsible for the death of a little girl. CH may have come across as befuddled, but Moore exposed himself as the pathetic wretch he is.

The pictures are VERY real. The cave they were found in is profiled in the Feb.2007 issue of the NSS News, published by the National Speleological Society. Due to the temps inside the cave (45-48 C) combined with 100% humidity, the people who mapped this cave did so in an environment that was very intolerant of mistakes. If they stayed too long, intentionally or by accident, they could die from heatstroke or literally cook to death.
  8. Sorry for the loss man. It's never easy even with the ones you've only had a few months. I agree that you shouldn't blame the vet. A couple friends of mine are vets and trust me when I say it hurts them almost as much as it does you. They are vets because they love animals. Most could make a lot more money as MDs and the schooling is just as tough. Add to that the fact that spaying a female is a lot more radical procedure than neutering a male. It's very invasive and involves removal of internal organs. Take some time to grieve. It's perfectly normal to get mad for a while, I always did. In a few days you'll be able to better accept her passing. Try to keep your chin up!
  9. The website is claiming the BBC released information of the collapse of #7 in a newscast aired 1/2 hr before the collapse actually took place. I didn't see any evidence anywhere on that site that they were telling the truth about the time it was aired. For all we know, from info given on the site, they could be making that up. The nice sarcastic remark (Concerning #7 still there)set in text on the screen while the women tells of the empty spot in the skyline where the towers once stood means nothing more than the operators of the site don't know that pre-recorded footage is usually used in segments such as that one. This is all old accusations that have been dragged around for 5 years and not one person...NOT ONE...has come out to say they were part of it. The number of people it would have taken to pull this off would be in the hundreds.
  10. Maybe you can convince the department to start a new division similar to smoke jumpers. You could be on standby with your rig. When a call comes in a heli takes you to the site and you jump in and get there faster than any cruiser could. Literally swoop in and knock the perp on his ass. You could call yourselves "Mugger Jumpers" .
  11. The Cleveland Indians logo of Chief Wahoo is, in my opinion, rather disrespectful. But the name has a very different story. The Cleveland Indians are named in honor of the first Native American to play in the major leagues, Louis Francis Sockalexis. Baseball Hall of Fame player-manager Hughie Jennings wrote of him: “At no time has a player crowded so many remarkable accomplishments into such a short period of time as Sockalexis. He should have been the greatest player of all times - greater than Cobb, Wagner, Lajoie, Hornsby or any of the other men who made history for the game.” Luckily the team mascot, Slider, has no direct connection to the name or logo other than owned by the same team.
  12. I agree completely. It pisses me off how stupid and inconsiderate some pet owners can be. There's a cat that comes into my yard to eat my fish out of my fish pond, I've rescued a couple of mice and a bird from it as well. I pellet gun the fucker in the ass every time I see it in my yard. I don't have the heart to actually hurt the cat, but I won't let it keep killing things in my yard either. Racoon traps work well. That way you can do it humanely - that and they sink really fast when you throw them in the water. That's called a "flea bath". Just soak for three hours and no more fleaa problems for the cat. I used to have a beagle that started to bark at night. I did the usual yelling, rolled up newspaper, etc. No neighbors, so it was only my problem. It finally got cured to the point where as soon as he saw signs of movement in the house he would shut up, only to start again an hour or so later. I think he was just fuckin' with me. I learned to sleep through it and eventually he stopped altogether. I'd have taken more drastic measures but damn could he run a rabbit!
  13. No disrespect intended. My apologies if you were offended. I was merely pointing out that risk is very seldom truly a consideration in wages, i.e. the athletes get paid millions to play with a ball while the cops who put their asses on the line to protect those athletes get paid very little in comparison. There is just something about that system that irks me, but I'm not sure what can be done about it.
  14. Pro athletes in NY get paid even more.
  15. ...and Happy Birthday Mr. Einstein
  16. I believe Big Bone Lick is just south of "FLORENCE Y'ALL" "Hunt the hare and turn her down the rocky road and all the way to Dublin ...."
  17. Here's a nice flow chart that has helped me from time to time. It's not exactly for your situation but I think it'll do.
  18. My thoughts too! Meet the Jetsons! Here ya go guys! Flying cars! http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=5RWp_B4uNS8
  19. It seems, though, that anytime someone questions the validity of CO2 being a major cause of gw they are called wackos and ignorant hicks. It doesn't make a good impression on the general public.
  20. I know plenty of Democrats who share your views and plenty of Republicans who don't. The line bewteen the two parties is not just gray, it can be very tough to see if it even exists.

    Life is good!

been better Yeah, these non-OTR days really suck. But Hey! Just a few short months from now....
  22. Now that's just plain cruel. I mean, if somebody tries to harm you they may deserve to get shot, but death by a thousand cuts is going too far. The again, whenever you "carried" you would always have a snack handy.
  23. don't forget Paul Michael Glacier And the one that was a mile thick and covered much of the upper midwest. It left us some really cool lakes, though.
  24. It's because the people who design the things never have to work on them. Ever wonder what a car would look like if it was designed by the mechanics who would eventually have to fix it? It would probably resemble a '57 Chevy. Front engine, rear drive, simple, lots of room for big guys to turn wrenches.
