More serious than plotting to plant a dirty bomb? It is extremely uncommon, by the way, for accused persons to be held in custody for 5 years on suspicion of crimes they are not even charged with when the case reaches court. Or at least it used to be uncommon. Right. I'm sure that not being able to carry a gun everywhere you go would be just as serious as being locked up for 5 years without the right to a trial. Never implied that it was. Only that a violation of rights is a violation of rights. Can't decry one and not the others. You might want to search the archives back to when Padilla was first imprisoned without charge, to see how the devout Bush supporters (most of whom fervently declare their support for the 2nd amendment) rationalized the violation of Padilla's rights. PS, did you find anyplace yet where I argued against the 2nd amendment? Thought not. Never said you did. Only that you have an issue with people carrying for protection. Read a bit more carefully next time. BTW, have you found a suitable replacement for DU? One that performs as well or better but without the health problems? Thought not.

Are they real chips? Chipmunk Chips 4 adult chipmunks Extra virgin olive oil salt & pepper to taste Skin and dress chipmunks. Place on ice until meat is firm. Using a large sharp knife slice chipmunks into slices app. 1/8" thick. (Yes, bones too) On med-high heat fry slices in olive oil until crispy, adding spices as desired. Serves 2. How do I catch the little bastards?? They have a network of holes in my backyard. 17 HMR. Unless you want to eat them then best to use a net. Hint: They love to make dens in down spouts, tubes, etc.

US military using Depleted Uranium in Iraq!
willard replied to zagijimzoo's topic in Speakers Corner
No problem. The crazy thing is, we seem to now define ALL military weapons as WMD's. So we have been using WMD's in Iraq for years now. Aha! So there ARE WMDs in Iraq! All those Iraqi AA guns, etc. -

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=SWAaZnALTYc&mode=related&search= I want one. (To deal with woodchucks, of course. ) Anybody know what the governments cost per round is? -
1. You are wrong (again). 2. What do guns have to do with the Padilla trial? Try to focus. I was wrong? About what? Do you or do you not feel a person has the right to carry a firearm to protect themselves? If you do then yes, I was wrong. If you don't then I was. Guns have nothing to do with the Padilla trial. I mentioned to subject to point out an irony. Padilla being held this long is far from something only the Bush-heads have done. There is plenty of evidence to prove he was involved in a plot to harm large numbers of people. I don't feel a bit sorry for him.

When you find a 35 foot triple for 50k let me know. I will take a couple of them. Just the three 275 outboards installed for 50k would be a good deal if they are Verado's. While I agree that many people purchase big boats just for the fun factor(and they are fun), I would not feel comfortable running a large center console powered by a single enging to far out in the sea. Tear up a lower unit or bust a prop shaft in rough seas and then what? Swim? I have been towed in several times after tearing up LU's on inland lakes. And I am not talking about hitting objects in the water for all the non boaters here. Surfacing props can be very stressful the drivetrain and failures do occur. My last one was a 17 ft ski boat with a 125hp on it. It did 45 mph and burned about 12-15 gallons a day. My last (and only) boat was wind powered. The only boat I ever owned was oar powered. Add wind power if it happened to be going the same direction I was but the transom and my chest don't make good sails.

Taken from the Washington Post article. It is common for prosecuters to decline to follow up on allegations with charges in order to prosecute on something they consider more serious and/or easier to get a conviction on. It's ironic that you complain about this and yet feel a person does not have the right to carry a gun to defend themselves. Who is it that wants to rape the Bill of Rights?

US military using Depleted Uranium in Iraq!

A highly misleading reply. It was a perfectly accurate reply. Do you dispute the accuracy of the facts in my post? Your posts on DU have been highly selective and I consider them misleading. It's quite shocking to see a Physics Professor pander to the kind of anti-DU hysteria that's been posted here in the past. If you consider 1/2 of one billionth of an ounce of C14 in your body to constitute being "riddled with it", then we can all draw our own conclusions about your objectivity and accuracy. rid·dled, rid·dling, rid·dles 1. To pierce with numerous holes; perforate: riddle a target with bullets. 2. To spread throughout: "Election campaigns have always been riddled with demagogy and worse" New Republic. 3. To put (gravel, for example) through a coarse sieve. Unless the C14 isotope is concentrated in one area I think "riddled with it" is quite accurate by definition #2. -
My brother had taken their dog, Bernie, to the vet to get neutered. To help give the dog some time to recupe my parents took my 4 year old niece, Whitney, to the races that evening. On the way to the track my dad inquired of Whit as to how Bernie was doing. "Not too good, Grampa." She replied. "Why is that?" my dad asked. "Because daddy took him to the vet and they CUT HIS BALLS OFF!"

That would make things shrivel in a hurry. A friend of my grandfather died many years ago when he failed to pull his P-51 Mustang out of a loop high enough and slammed the ground at an airshow.

Yeah, that really sucks. Worse thing that a bank did to me was cancel my ATM card because a sequence of them had been "compromised". Went to the ATM on a Saturday afternoon to get cash for a date and the freakin' machine kept my card. Since it was my only source of cash and credit. I was pretty much screwed for the weekend...figuratively speaking. I can understand them canceling it, but they should have at least called to let me know what they were doing. -

US military using Depleted Uranium in Iraq!

Now I see. You don't care about facts, you just want something else to bitch about concerning the current administration. Well, if it's so bad and you are so sure of yourself then why are you bitchin' here about it? Do you think anyone here can or will do anything about it? Want the military to stop using DU? Then come up with a sustitute that will perform the same without the side effects. Want the war to stop? The get your ass over there and convince all the factions in Iraq to resolve their differences and quit killing each other. BTW, exactly how much DU dust would an average size person need to ingest to suffer significant health problems? Inhale? Get on their skin? What about all the lead that is being deposited there? Aluminum? Iron? Plastics? Other elements? They all have potential health risks, why aren't you complaining about these? Because "depleted uranium" sounds evil, that's why. Admit it. You don't give a fart about the people over there, you just want something else to make the Bush-heads look even worse. -
We need more information 1. How many bales can a 35-footer carry? 2. What is the top speed of a Coast Guard cutter? 3. How many HP does a fully-loaded 35-footer need to exceed #2? Answers to your questions: 1. Not enough. 2. Classified (I could tell you, but then I'd have to kill you) 3. Lots!

Boats are holes in the water that people throw money into. Some boats are fast enough to be fun.

US military using Depleted Uranium in Iraq!
willard replied to zagijimzoo's topic in Speakers Corner
So that makes it good to spread around? Regardless of its radioactivity level (and it IS still radioactive) is is also a toxic heavy metal for which there is no "safe" level. Never implied it was good to spread around. Yes, it IS still radioactive but at a level less than naturally occurring uranium which, as I'm sure you're aware, is found in our own bodies from natural sources. We are surrounded by toxic heavy metals. There is no way around them. "Safe" is a relative term. Some feel that any exposure to any radioactivity, even dental X-rays, is bad. All I was pointing out is that this is not something new and killing people by the millions. This is not some big secret the government has been keeping from people. For years tech spec sheets for the weapons that use depleted uranium bullets have it spelled out right there in black & white..."depleted uranium". Should we be using it as projectiles? Nope. Maybe someday some scientist/physicist will come up with a better alternative. How 'bout it, Kallend? Are you up to the challenge?
