At my DZ (Netheravon) and also I think it is a BPA regulation, everyone has a flightline gear check from someone else B licence or better (it is part of the IC1 test to be able to complete this check on someone). This is then signed off on the manifest - or you dont get on the plane. I know people hate extra regulation but I am sure that this saves lives - even if it is only one life every ten years. Particularly from those little things, like misrouted chest straps and uncocked P/Cs. There seems to be little to lose and everything to gain. *************** Not one shred of evidence supports the theory that life is serious - look at the platypus.

What does "biff" really mean?
damion75 replied to sunsetjim's topic in General Skydiving Discussions
I know what it means in the UK Army - it is an abbreviation, but very rude and I don't think this is the site for it!! *************** Not one shred of evidence supports the theory that life is serious - look at the platypus. -
I know exactly how you feel! I had a break for a year in 2002 cos so much other stuff was going on. I almost quit completely but thought I would give it one more go... that was 130 jumps and a boogie ago. I can't believe I ever even thought of quitting! *************** Not one shred of evidence supports the theory that life is serious - look at the platypus.

Hey welcome! Remember, only fart in the plane if you know you can blame someone else!! Only joking of course... you can always open the door... *************** Not one shred of evidence supports the theory that life is serious - look at the platypus.

Wired is the word! Cool - keep it up, maybe see you in the plane some day... *************** Not one shred of evidence supports the theory that life is serious - look at the platypus.

That first lift smell! Definitely... when the sun is only just properly up and it is still a bit cold. Passing through 8k thinking about all those poor saps who are still in bed! and the prospect of a bacon roll when you get down... *************** Not one shred of evidence supports the theory that life is serious - look at the platypus.

I think this might be an easy one... was there a pool of water underneath him? *************** Not one shred of evidence supports the theory that life is serious - look at the platypus.

British Army - it is just a course that I managed to get a place on... proper sports jumping, none of that unpleasant military crud!! Boy just lucky I guess! *************** Not one shred of evidence supports the theory that life is serious - look at the platypus.

Yep - excited, and also slightly nervous about screwing up if I am jumping with new people for the first time... *************** Not one shred of evidence supports the theory that life is serious - look at the platypus.

I hear you! Last jump was the holiday boogie in Eloy. Next jump is when I get R&R - 27 days and counting... On the other hand, I will be getting two weeks worth of coached RW jumps courtesy of the Army so it's not all bad! Korea / Iraq, same shit, different country... *************** Not one shred of evidence supports the theory that life is serious - look at the platypus.

Ok - not that kind of smell!! I am not talking the one which fills the plane as you go through 8000' and makes the pilot get his air freshener out! I find that of all the senses, the one which brings back the memories best is smell. So lets have some smell memories... (a brave call I think!!) For me? 1. American coffee - tastes IMHO like sh*t, but the smell reminds me of being in the US, and since most of my trips there are skydiving related, this is a GOOD memory! 2. Certain perfumes, certain g/fs - nuff said 3. The smell of schools. Went to visit a mate who is a teacher and that disgusting mix of toilets and whiteboard pens brought loads of memories back... I'm sure there are more but I have gone on long enough... Your turn...

Ok - here is a mercenary idea to get some cash rolling in to run the site! Since a lot of people like to have a little status name under their login... why not make them available for a small donation?! There could either be set names for a set donation level, or more fun, people could choose their own status / title and donate a fixed amount. Totally optional since there is no obligation to donate anyway I can't see how anyone could be upset by it (it would just be a bit of fun) but could also raise some dosh for HH to continue keeping this place running... Ok - flame away and tell me why it is a really bad idea... *************** Not one shred of evidence supports the theory that life is serious - look at the platypus.

Cheers! That was probably the most useful link I have followed in ages! *************** Not one shred of evidence supports the theory that life is serious - look at the platypus.

I dont want to be a know it all or a canopy Nazi, but at 195lbs body weight (which is probably what someone on AFF is discussing) comes to more like 215-220lbs exit weight. That gives a wingloading of 1.05 psf... not far off mine... and on nearly 200 jumps I still find my Spectre 'exciting' at that wingloading in nil winds! Even on the old square Sabre that might be a little much at the moment. My friend of a similar size got a 230 and he has 40 jumps... Other than bringing this out I don't think I am going to hand out any advice other than go big!! You may not think it looks cool, but neither does falling over or using crutches!! Blue skies and good luck looking for that perfect rig!! *************** Not one shred of evidence supports the theory that life is serious - look at the platypus.

There was some 30's baseball star called Frank Robinson, everything that comes up seems to be memorabilia for that... *************** Not one shred of evidence supports the theory that life is serious - look at the platypus.

Ebookers.com - not bad prices and you can actually buy the flights at the prices they put on the screen, unlike most other sites which advertise a really good price but when you phone to book tell you it has sold out... and offer the same or worse than everyone else... *************** Not one shred of evidence supports the theory that life is serious - look at the platypus.

Dont worry - I've got a few that you are welcome to use... Women might be able to fake orgasms, but men can fake entire relationships. - Jimmy Shubert (on going to war over religion)... you're basically killing each other to see who has the better imaginary friend - Rich Jeni I found my wife in bed one day next to a vietnamese guy and a black guy. I took a photo and sent it to Benneton. You never know! - Franck Dubosc My girlfriend always laughs during sex, no matter what she's reading - Emo Phillips My Cousin just died and he was only 19. He got stung by a bee, the natural enemy of a tightrope walker... - Emo Phillips My mother never saw the irony in calling me a son of a bitch! - Rich Jeni ----------------------------------------------- Ok, they are not QUITE one liners, but what the heck! *************** Not one shred of evidence supports the theory that life is serious - look at the platypus.

Phew - for a moment there I thought someone had actually done it!! I want to be the first!! I got told when I first got out here that someone had been waterskiing on the Tigris in Baghdad - just one pass... and ever since it has been in my head to try and organise (probably on the quiet) a skydive into Baghdad International Airport. It is doable - just need a pilot willing to risk getting in trouble! Actually the Polish troops here are talking about it too so who knows. If it happens I'll be sure to post the video! *************** Not one shred of evidence supports the theory that life is serious - look at the platypus.

Er... they are not humanitarian workers, they are journalists... I have no problem with people attacking journalists - I have wanted to do it myself on many occasions... These are also not humanitarian workers - they are soldiers. You are right however that they are here solely to help rebuild Iraq, and that asking them the leave with their $1.4 billion seems a bit daft... *************** Not one shred of evidence supports the theory that life is serious - look at the platypus.
