Never did a tandem. Way too pricey!! Did a static line years ago for a laugh, then forgot about it for a while until I saw an AFF course advertised. Paid the lot up front and after that there was no way I wasnt going to complete it!! Money is a great motivator... of course I loved it too... *************** Not one shred of evidence supports the theory that life is serious - look at the platypus.

You'd have thought that the 'Kingos' could take a joke - joining a Regiment from Liverpool!! I hope you didnt get all your kit stolen!! (British joke!) *************** Not one shred of evidence supports the theory that life is serious - look at the platypus.

I will probably get shot down in flames for saying this, but here goes anyway! The advice I got when buying my first canopy was not to buy one that was too big! I was going to get a 190 loading at about 0.9 and all the instructors recommended that I go for a 170 instead (1.1:1) - I am so glad I did. After doing AFF on Manta (288 sq ft?) I went straight onto PD9 Cells 210/190 and then pretty quickly onto Silhouette 190s by about Jump 25. I didnt find that too fast at all. I now have a Spectre 170 and yes it is much faster than the rental PD 210s at the DZ, but the flare is so much more powerful that the landings are easier. I have also inevitably screwed it up on a few occasions (!) and it is a very forgiving canopy. So what am I saying? Buy a size you are comfortable with but remember that for this amount of money you want it to last for a while - so it might be worth waiting a little longer and THEN buying something a little smaller. And Spectres rule! *************** Not one shred of evidence supports the theory that life is serious - look at the platypus.

Anything by Louis de Berniere - one of the best writers IMHO alive today - he really sucks you in to the atmosphere and location where he is writing. Probably best to start on Capt Correli's Mandolin, then work on to 'The War of Don Emmanuels Nether Parts" Great book!! *************** Not one shred of evidence supports the theory that life is serious - look at the platypus.

I don't know if it was normal, but my guys and I were doing 3-way from 21k in Eloy and found it much harder to move fast between points than normal at the top end - less air pressure? Also we were not able to whistle in the plane above about 17k...! Just out of curiosity! *************** Not one shred of evidence supports the theory that life is serious - look at the platypus.

Can I quibble? what you list as 'Agnostic' is in fact 'Deist' which is how I would describe myself. An Agnostic does literally not know whether there is a god or not (from the greek 'Gnosis' - knowledge). Sure - when you let go of that plane!! Its quite difficult to get back in, has been done but... Don't forget to close the door when you leave!! *************** Not one shred of evidence supports the theory that life is serious - look at the platypus.

RELAX!!! Remember that you didnt learn to drive in four lessons!! (I hope!) I am no AFF instructor but I can tell you that you will be amazed by the progress you will make in the next few jumps. I know what you want to hear, and it is true... this happens to almost everyone! but as if by magic when you get to level 7 you will suddenly find that you are able to do this stuff! Its like magic...

God and Bill Gates... oh and a lot of British Generals when they conquered 1/3 of the world two hundred years ago... Not sure that had a lot to do with god - again it is just pretty much because we used to rule the waves... dont any more of course... Dude, didnt you learn at school that the world is a sphere? The centre is straight underneath you! *************** Not one shred of evidence supports the theory that life is serious - look at the platypus.

Everyone has their own opinion! A number of serious UK runners are starting to run on the balls of their feet because it is better shock absorption for your knees, and doesnt stretch your thighs out as much. It can also be faster - BUT... if your calves are not up to it it can damage them! I ran through the pain barrier doing this and nearly tore my right calf. That hurt!! so take it easy at first. A mixture of on and off road is best to work on different muscle groups and take you through different aerobic and anaeoribc stages. Works for me anyway! Frank.

Chaos is good! Anarchy rules... Easy one for you since everyone seems pretty stumped by the last few: "How far are you prepared to go Mr ********" "As far as it takes" "If he pulls a knife, you pull a gun. If he puts one of yours in the hospital, you put one of his in the morgue. THAT's the Chicago way!" Shouldn't take long... *************** Not one shred of evidence supports the theory that life is serious - look at the platypus.

I am pretty sure that Reg is taking a bunch of RA to perris in April as well to get display qualified. That was the plan anyway... I was going to go with him! *************** Not one shred of evidence supports the theory that life is serious - look at the platypus.

Unfortunately I wont get to see this on the big screen - I would love to since it looks like an epic but there you go. Personally my favourite film on the subject is DOGMA. Because it emphasises the difference between having a good idea (trying to do the right thing the right way) and the sort of 'faith' and 'belief' that has caused religion to be one of the biggest causes of war through history. Cheers out. PS. And it is pretty funny. I like that in a film! *************** Not one shred of evidence supports the theory that life is serious - look at the platypus.

How often do you get scared skydiving?
damion75 replied to drakeshelby's topic in General Skydiving Discussions
I was pretty apprehensive the first time I flew my 'new' (not any more!) canopy. Down from 210 F1-11 to a 170 ZP - needlessly as it is a Spectre and truly sweet - stand up first time. Mostly worry in the plane when doing anything bigger than 8-way about messing it up for the others on the jump but fine as soon as in the air! *************** Not one shred of evidence supports the theory that life is serious - look at the platypus. -
Skydiving threatening to take over your life too heh? As for the landings... I'm no coach but if you are flying an F1-11 canopy (porous) then try flaring more smoothly instead of rushing it. If you have a ZP canopy then definitely two stage flare and don't rush the second stage! I came in quite fast in Eloy this new year, surfed a little and then flared hard - went straight back up! ended up dropping about 5 feet and looking a little foolish... not a drama - but definitely better the stand up... *************** Not one shred of evidence supports the theory that life is serious - look at the platypus.

You MUST be a Yorkshire girl with language like that!! Remember, skydiving is like life (or maybe that should read skydiving IS life!) - the things you need will always expand to fill the money you have - there's NEVER enough!! *************** Not one shred of evidence supports the theory that life is serious - look at the platypus.
