I've been offered a job in Australia (long term). In adelaide... not sure. Have you been there? what did you think? *************** Not one shred of evidence supports the theory that life is serious - look at the platypus.

Commiserations for your loss. Those of us in UK who have lived through the last 30 years of IRA attrocities know how you feel. I sympathise. F. *************** Not one shred of evidence supports the theory that life is serious - look at the platypus.

Not a lot to add to everyone elses... as far as one date goes? Cute and available! ie. not married, engaged or going out with a mate. For longer than one date? The right (natural) smile and the right (natural) smell. Al Pacino was right - the scent of a woman is important! *************** Not one shred of evidence supports the theory that life is serious - look at the platypus.

Noooooo! I'm confident that she looks like that all the time!! Don't deny me thinking that!

Wow! There have been a couple of 'skyhottie' threads that I remember - but I dont remember seeing that porch photo before! Phew!! *************** Not one shred of evidence supports the theory that life is serious - look at the platypus.

That just means that we are all equally sick! Well I reckon skydivers are probably quite a different social grouping to any other... so what did the other guys you discussed this with come up with? *************** Not one shred of evidence supports the theory that life is serious - look at the platypus.

Lot of 'I' in posts referring to work done by the US (and lots of other nations including my own UK) in other countries, aid, mliitary intervention etc. Funny pronoun to use when YOU have not done any of this - your military has, so credit them not yourself. Their (our) contribution to what peace and stability that there is in the world should not be used as reflected glory. If YOU didnt do it, then YOU shouldnt mouth off about what WE are doing. If YOU want to have the real right to claim responsibility for it then YOU can join US in risking your life, living in shitty conditions and giving up the things you love (including skydiving!!) for months / years at a time for a pittance while people back home claim the glory for it. Thankyou for listening!! *************** Not one shred of evidence supports the theory that life is serious - look at the platypus.

Am I cool because I skydive, or do I skydive because I'm cool?
damion75 replied to TitaniumLegs's topic in The Bonfire
I was cool before I started skydiving... now I am less cool because I dont have enough jumps to be completely cool! Hopefully this will change... in the next two decades! *************** Not one shred of evidence supports the theory that life is serious - look at the platypus. -

About 3k normally - to have some nylon over my head by 2000ft to 2300ft (Spectre snivel!) At my DZ they are not keen on people opening higher than 3500ft without warning of the JM first - but being fully open lower than 2k can be a grounding offence. Hey, I paid a lot for this camopy - I want to use it!! *************** Not one shred of evidence supports the theory that life is serious - look at the platypus.

Back in '76 when we (SA) had some of our Recces already beyond Luanda and the US had ships/troops in support just off the coast of Angola, they (I suspect the CIA) suddenly decided that it was no longer prudent to assist the SA forces. The SA forces, having relied on the US support, had stretched their supply lines too far. The rest, as they say in the classics, is history. And Angola has loads of oil. Diamonds too. Makes one think... Not the first time America has promised people help and then betrayed them... I'm thinking... promising help to the Shia and the Kurds after Gulf War 1 in 1991 and then leaving them to suffer Saddam's reprisals, Im thinking influencing the UN into quitting Srebrenica in 1993 and the consequent genocide, I'm thinking the failed anti-communist invasion of Cuba (Bay of pigs) not a great record of loyalty to a cause. Zimbabwe is probably better off without them... *************** Not one shred of evidence supports the theory that life is serious - look at the platypus.

Whoa there tiger! 'Peaceful' Jeffrey!! He never said that you did have to send soldiers everywhere! There is a difference between maintaining an interest and sending the troops! Its just that people in most countries like to look beyond the borders of their own country. As for the rest - isolationism never has worked for the USA so wake up and smell the roses. Someone wise once said "all that is necessary for evil to triumph is for good people to do nothing" or words to that effect. It doesnt always require the use of force. It only takes a few violent angry people to wreck a country. Just because there is trouble doesnt make them all guilty - I really dont think that this is a healthy attitude. *************** Not one shred of evidence supports the theory that life is serious - look at the platypus.

Time for some European input! Home DZ - Netheravon UK, excellent. Great bacon sandwiches and loads of cool people. And the view in the summer is outstanding... Cyprus (CCSPC) makes up for the piston islander (well was in 2001) by having some of the friendlies instructors and riggers I have met RAPA - Germany, how chilled out can one DZ be and still be completely switched on and safe?! Great place. I DO have to mention Eloy too though - only been there once, for the New Year boogie but how well is that place organised? Awesome. *************** Not one shred of evidence supports the theory that life is serious - look at the platypus.

Hey skymama - how about climbers, now they have tough bodies! much better than poncy soccer players who just worry about their next haircare product endorsment! *************** Not one shred of evidence supports the theory that life is serious - look at the platypus.

Great if you can get your own back - but at least you found out what a twat he was cheaply - finding this out about a friend of mine cost me 700 quid... so could have been worse - could have been over a girl. Guys who do what you do leave me in awe. I understand how tough it is but I am very impressed that you can keep doing it. Think of all the good things you do and take strength from that. Good luck.

Ok ok - sorry I jumped down your throat but it looked like I was being called a liar! Most of the countries on that list have numbers here in the hundreds, although some are a lot smaller. But surely here it is the political message of support for the operation and the US that counts? After all I cant see the US really needing military support from the Dominican Republic!!

Ok kiltboy! Is this a troll?Let me give you a clue... I am currently working in the main coalition forces HQ in Baghdad... and you are where? Scotland. Hmmm - who is more likely to be correct? 1. There are two Iceland officers in the British Led Multi-national division South East. 2. I eat dinner with three very pleasant Lithuanian officers here in Baghdad every day
