Clark is for tax increases and affirmative action and against the war in Iraq. I am surprised you would vote for him. Although he is against assault weapons, that doesn't necessarily mean he is for gun control. I just am not seeing it I guess. Why this guy?

It's about freekin' time! -- Wesley Clark for President!
JohnnyD replied to quade's topic in The Bonfire
That is a good point, although greatly simplified. I do agree however, that the cost of this debacle is immense - more than most people projected as a worst case scenario. The difference could be made up in reducing the central gov't., which should also include a reduction of the military and our insistence in being involved in everything. Extremely unlikely. -

Great. He is for tax increases and affirmative action. Any other reasons I shouldn't like him? -
Sigh. So much hate - and in the name of love.

I am also very much unaffiliated. It does seem to me that your beliefs (at least socially speaking) are more in keeping with those of the republican party. Is this guy you will vote for in keeping with what I perceive to be your beliefs? He is, after all, a democratic candidate. Does he significantly depart from some of the democratic platform? I truly know nothing about this man. What is it about him that you believe in?
-
Why? Because he was a general? I would have guessed you were a republican.

Oh.. that's right... and we harbor Freedom Fighters... not terrorists. Ok, so if two groups both believe they're "the good guys" and they both go about killing the other group "the bad guys" ... how do you decide if 'good' or 'evil' prevailed? Simple - History is not told by the losers. Quite obviously the last man standing surely must have had god or allah or whatever on his side. He has triumphed over evil.

Does he need an accountant?

This is very true. I don't know where people get this stuff. I had a ring in the side of my nose and I totally loved it and really miss it (now a working professional ) I think rings in the side are WAY sexy. Rings in the middle make me think of cows (NOT sexy) and studs make me think of teenage girls with no fashion sense who listen to hip hop (also NOT sexy). As always, you can't please all the people all the time, so just try to please yourself and "your mileage will vary"

AAAWWWWW, How romantic.

Still begs the question: how does this happen?

I'm sure there are many people wondering the same thing, myself included. It seems the only passing guesses currently are along the lines of: mostly elderly people who are alone, as their families are on holiday.

The costs can pile up quick. I recall that the City of Chicago began purchasing semi-trailer freezers from dairy trucking companies because the morgues were full. Interesting point about the lack of pyro., but it should still be prime news material.

I was working in a lumberyard (outside job) in Ottawa in the summer of '95. It was insanely hot that summer. There was about a four week period in which @ 150 people died (IIRC) due to the heat. It was a huge deal on the news every night. Although I do laugh at the French jokes, 3000 already dead is 9/11 type devastation. Why are we not yet providing aid to France?

If you're going to be in town a while, feel free to hollar up displaced San Diegans!

I am SO feeling you. Just bought one and one of everything to go in it.

Skydiving becoming MUCH safer for students ?
JohnnyD replied to XWuffo's topic in Safety and Training
I disagree only partially. I have seen many very successful static line jumps out of 182s with the student holding on to the strut and dangling their feet into the relative wind. When they release, they are already in a pretty good body position. On the other hand, I would never put a static line student out of a side door aircraft. Exiting and getting stable completely unassisted on a first jump is just too much to ask of most students. -
Happy B-day! Do it up large!

My wife suports 100%. I'm taking a sanity/financial break from jumping right now and she is trying to find ways to save up money and time to get me back in the air. Not too shabby for a one jump wonder.

I think someone needs a hug. or a nap

I definitely didn't mean to imply that the possible sentence fits the crime, only that 31 yrs could definitely break someone at that place.
