I would venture to guess that this is just a bit of CYA for the teacher. If the teacher decides to not notify the school system of the contents of the picture and something happens, the teacher could be in trouble. If the teacher thinks this is a good kid that just needs a little lesson on what is appropriate and has the kid redraw the picture, everyone wins. Sounds like a good teacher.

What a wonderful lesson to teach your children. Do you also have a daughter? If so, will you teach her that her rightful place is in the kitchen?

Its just posturing. The Mexican authorities dropped the charges against the Dog - it was a nice jesture. The prosecutors are appealing, so the US authorities left the bond in place pending the outcome of the appeal. A nice jesture in return. We're trying to not show them up and improve our relations and cooperation. I think we're actually doing a good job too. In CO, there was a recent case of a cop killer fleeing to Mexico. Senator Salazar (I think it was him) got the Mexican authorities to actively pursue the guy and capture him and extradite him for trial. Very cool. Its not an easy situation, but I think it is very slowly getting better.

Saluting Flag While Not in Uniform to Be Authorized (StratPage)

So congress has actually made you happy about them doing nothing, because normally, what they would be doing is bad? -
Saluting Flag While Not in Uniform to Be Authorized (StratPage)

Cpl, USMC Not that it matters. So not only has my ass been in the crack, but I also get my paltry paycheck squeezed to pay for these stuffed shirts to waste my resources on totally irrelevant issues. They must have run out of issues on which to pass non-binding resolutions. -
Saluting Flag While Not in Uniform to Be Authorized (StratPage)

I can't believe we actually pay these people to waste our time with this crap. The next time I see someone get dragged away by the police for saluting the flag will be the first time. -
And the big question is how. The surge is working, but no amount of US troops can make Iraqis work together to create a unified Iraq if they don't want to, and I don't think they want to. At what point do we have to step back and let the Iraqis decide what will become of Iraq? I say right now, because in the end, they will anyway.

Bombings are down, but they are still at a level of 2.3 per day. The increase in troops is having an effect, that is certain. But how long can it be sustained? If you look at the bigger picture, what indicates that peace is on the horizon? Nothing at all that I can see. If we stop the troop surge tomorrow, what will come? Chaos. The government is on the verge of collapse. That is the key to the surge. It was supposed to be a temporary measure to decrease sectarian violence and allow the government to stabilize. Violence is down, but the government is on the verge of collapse. So the surge worked in one aspect, but not another. I don't think anything can stop the sectarian problems that Iraq has. The government we installed has no hope of being successful. All we are doing is delaying the civil war, putting AQ in the mix, and putting ourselves right in the middle of the whole mess.

Homeowner arrested after the burglar he confronted falls 30ft

Looks like the police did an outstanding job - to the letter. Dotted all the i's and crossed all the t's. Yet they are trashed relentlessly. What an unbelievably thankless job. Glad there are some good men willing to do it and do it well. -
not looking for any freebees. just want to know how to fix my itunes problem and then transition from itunes back to a normal mp3 player.

excellent point which leads me to another question. how? You remove it from your computer. Stop paying them for music. Problem solved. all of my music (50g) is in itunes. how do i just stop using it?

It was the best rationalization I've read ...for women to surgically mutilate themselves instead of learning how beautiful, strong and free they can become just by exploring and growing. I don't consider a large nose, small or asymmetrical breasts a defect, nor the women any less beautiful. It's those that do who support the surguries. Bringing up mastectomies as a rationale for millions of women voluntarily surgically mutilating themselves is something even Acme cannot believe ...but it plays well to the masses. Totally senseless. Next thing you know people are going to start jumping out of airplanes. Why? Because it makes them happy?

Such as God/Buddah/Allah/Zeus/FSM? If I could figure out a way to get a gun in there, I would have the SC trifecta. You may have that, but I bet you anything you can't slip RSL's into the mix! I am humbled. Let us not also forget AAD's. Maybel I'll try to land a wingsuit as well.

Ward Churchill: It took a while but they finally did the right thing
JohnnyD replied to rushmc's topic in Speakers Corner
Again, no disagreement. He is on the rolls somewhere, so his claims of Native American heritage are valid - sort of. It's about reading comprehension. Or possibly that wikipedia is not the authoritative source for information. Again - in an interview with Ben Nighthorse Campbell (a Colorado senator), he explained that Churchill was on the rolls somewhere. That is how he was able to circumvent the tenior process at CU. That does not automatically mean that he is of Native American descent, just that he is on the rolls somewhere. They didn't say where, they were just explaining how it worked. -

Wikipedia isn't without it's mistakes, but all these direct quotes are documented. Again, no disagreement. He is on the rolls somewhere, so his claims of Native American heritage are valid - sort of. Seems to be a moot point now, but it does highlight one very large elephant that seems to have been hiding in the corner. CU circumvented their tenior process in Churchill's case because they wanted a Native American in their ethnic studies department. Turns out that wasn't a good idea. -
Absolutely - the NYT has no problems with leaking classified info, you think they WOULDN'T have gotten hold of this and ran it by now, if it were true? The NYT reports, they don't leak. Fix the problem, not the messenger.

If a year long legal battle to keep your job and then losing and getting fired on national television is your idea of fun, I guess you can keep it. People are and should be resposible for thier actions. This guy made his bed now he has to sleep in it. Life sucks huh! Yeah, sooner or later we will all hit our bumps in the road. Some may run off the road entirely and end up in the ditch. I fail to see how that is fun or funny.
