That is really just sad.

"We make a major step ... toward reducing our dependence on oil, fighting global climate change, expanding the production of renewable fuels and giving future generations ... a nation that is stronger cleaner and more secure," said the president. Um, don't look now, but the pres believes in GW. I'm covering my ears and eyes as I wait for the exploding heads.

Is anyone actually going to be surprised? What I am really interested in is Selig's press conference 2.5 hours later. Can't wait to see what the commish is going to say.

Seemingly brought upon themselves. The attitude is thick enough in CO that you can barely cut it with a chainsaw.
-
Yeah. Some areas seem to experience it far more prevalently than others.
-
Since I moved to CO, I've met more people that have quit jumping than have started. Its an unusual situation and a very strange vibe up in Longmont.
-
Absolutely. I used to live in a very bad part of a large and warm city and I had a number of homeless guys around all the time. I would give them whatever leftovers I had and would grub up some mac and cheese when they were around - hot, cheap and filling. People always used to ask me why I was so nice to them. My answer - I'm one missed paycheck from joining them.

Cook County Board Poised to Shut Down Cabela's Superstore
JohnnyD replied to warpedskydiver's topic in Speakers Corner
That pretty much says it all right there. -
Actually, the text was "Thou shalt not MURDER." - a bit of editing was done from the original Hebrew. I refer you also to Luke 22:36. I know. I just found it a bit ironic that of all places you would think you would be protected by god, it would be "his house". Guess not. I mean, they couldn't even kill people in churches in the Highlander movies. That has to count for something, right? I also thought it was a bit ironic that the head guy at the church was calling the guard a hero. Just sounded weird to me. I expect the leader of a church to be talking about compassion, tolerance, inclusion, forgiveness, and love. Not this guy. His hero is a woman with a gun who took someone's life. Not saying I don't agree, but it just seems so unbelievably out of place. I don't get the Luke 22:36 reference, but then again the bible seems to be the only book that you can extract a paragraph out of a one thousand page book and act like it has some meaning all by itself (I know, off topic) Glad to hear your brother is ok. I missed it the first time around.

No kidding. That speaks quite clearly about our mainstream culture. You apparently misunderstand the situation. The armed guards were brought in because of another shooting 12 hours earlier at another church, and the gunman was still on the loose. It was a wise and prudent security measure, and it paid off big time. It does not mean that the church always has armed guards all the time. No faith that god will protect his temple of worship/crack snorting/gay sex?????? Yeah, maybe armed guards are a good idea for that night club.
-
The conclusions you draw cannot be substantiated with the quotes you post. I still stand by my original quote that it is a sad state of affairs that a church needs armed guards. I guess thou shalt not kill was blacked out of that churches commandments and replaced with thou shalt have well armed and trained guards at the doors of the house of god, because surely smith and wesson shall protect thee when the lord is otherwise occupied.

Dude. I'm not saying you're gay, but were you also wearing frilly pantys and heels during this encounter?
-
Right. I'm sure there's no volunteers for that assignment.

She's got great boobs. What's not to be happy about?

Do you know what number the truck is? That would enable me to pull it up on a sat tracking map. Edit: Or who are the drivers?
-
That would be the cherry on top of the bullshit.
-
Looks like a full stock class. Not a trophy truck or a pro truck. The overall winner - Pro motorcycle 1x crossed the finish line around 6:45 am yesterday morning. The trophy truck winner crossed the finish line around noon yesterday.
-
What team is that? The 1000 was over for the first finishers late yesterday morning.

Got an extra slot for a round of golf tomorrow if you're going to be here by then and if you're interested.

Participants Aside, This Might Be Good For All Of Us
JohnnyD replied to rushmc's topic in Speakers Corner
Aside from the impossibility of this, am I the only one that sees this for what it is? that they are all in it together and not really 2 groups, but 1? sure, it's been noted constantly huh? I was talking about a bullshit lawsuit to generate cheap publicity. -
Well?

You get what you pay for. He's competitive, but he is not a working out of his garage type of guy. edit: I just checked the troubleshooter referral list and Chaput was number one.
-
is this typical? i think i remember him saying i had to pay half the amount before he starts and the other half upon completion. what does that say about his service? i dont believe in paying any money until the job is DONE... am i right or what? Its not unusual, but what I am saying is if you're already having trouble getting him to return calls or even show up at this point, its only going to get worse after you put some money in his pocket. Call Art Chaput. He's done work on my house and I know his CPA firm. I can vouch for him. He will come out and give you a free estimate.
