As it has been mentioned, any Apple software is going to transcode to AIC or ProRes. This will not only dramatically increase the amount of hard drive space needed, but it will also slow the import of the footage. I currently use Premier Pro CS4 on a Macbook and it will support AVCHD natively. However, it requires a lot of processing power. Premier Elements will support AVCHD I believe and so that is a much less expensive option. If you use Premier and Encore together that can save some time also. Another option is just using Boot Camp and a copy of Vegas. I have that available to me, but I have been sticking with Premier. I am interested to see what happens when Snow Leopard and how it helps with AVC stuff. Anyway, good luck and try different things. Sky Canyon Wingsuiters

Was one of them Cory? Ha. When this pilot flew in NE he was very professional and listened to different viewpoints in regards to jump operations. Glad to hear everything worked out. Maybe the divers are scared of tripping on the wing spar so they have to crowd the back. Sky Canyon Wingsuiters

I know how you feel. With being a new TI I see it happening to me a lot. Oh well, I need the money. Sky Canyon Wingsuiters

Yeah out of an aircraft you wait 3-5 seconds, (more for stability and clearance issues), but think about how long it takes to get to terminal on a sport jump out of a balloon. Would be a cool thing to do though. Sky Canyon Wingsuiters

Wide Angle Lense = Lower Quality Recording?
mnskydiver688 replied to nakedfool's topic in Photography and Video
I have heard some conflicting stories about whether the Century or Raynox are better. I am currently using the Century and have been very impressed with the results. Beyond the HD the biggest selling point for me and Century was the fact that it is low profile. Sky Canyon Wingsuiters -
Might turn out to be an unpopular idea, but when I transfer footage I make a folder for the individual dates and put the respective footage in each folder. I have also started including a text file with a brief description of what the clip is. By using a basic text file it opens quickly and easily. Just a thought. Sky Canyon Wingsuiters

New Student...please help

While Sudafed may be a good temporary solution. Using an expectorant also will promote the loosing of congestion and help to get the mucus out. I had the toothache thing happen a few weeks ago. Exercise helps to loosen up sinuses. One thing to keep in mind is when blowing your nose don't push too hard or you can push bacteria into your upper sinuses giving you a sinus infection that can drag out the problems. Yes please do not track up jump run. At the very least use an L pattern to get off jump run. Also with just tandems and wingsuiters don't worry about taking time in the door. Heck the farther away us wingsuiters get the less turns we need to make. Sky Canyon Wingsuiters

Well I don't think there are a lot of top secret designs with wingsuits. If someone wanted to figure out the design, just buy a suit and take it apart. I don't think it is necessarily about the design just that Tony doesn't want rogue Tony-suits flying around. Considering the amount of work involved he shouldn't worry. In regards to Butters post, I wonder about what people fly right off of a FFC too. I have noticed that once a highly experienced jumper does a successful first flight course he gets the keys to castle in regards to whatever suit he wants to fly. if someone with 500 jumps goes and does a FFC and then on his second or third flight wants to fly a Mach 1 what would be the average response? Keep flying that Intro for a while and then maybe try a Raptor or other comparable suit. But, I guess it really not my place since I do not know him and do not fly with him. Personally, I will continue promoting a more conservative approach to wingsuit progression. Sky Canyon Wingsuiters

Are all malfunctions human error?

If you really wanted to go nuts about it, because a parachute system is designed by humans, any error or malfunction could be blamed on human error. Sky Canyon Wingsuiters -

Yes I recently worked with Gary at a boogie last weekend. As Sandy mentioned, he is a good stand up guy. There is always risk on both sides of a transactions like those done on Dropzone.com Sky Canyon Wingsuiters -
Hey now! Those were all completely on accident... I never flew in front of you at the correct angle to totally steal all your air. Sky Canyon Wingsuiters

If it were me I would keep all my raw footage organized and in one place. If the project file copied the footage you would quickly run out of space on the computer. So the project file itself is like a map to all the footage and the timeline itself is like the planned path of your trip through the map. May be a bad analogy. Anyway since multiple projects may be using the same footage you wouldn't want the projects moving it. Hope this kind of clears things up. Sky Canyon Wingsuiters

He is an Turbine baby! The only WDI he knows is that green thing by the door that most of the time lights up at a time when he ends up back at the airport. Ha! Sky Canyon Wingsuiters

Yes the Mac mini's and MacBooks use an integrated graphics card. It is an Intel card that can access up to 144MB of system memory. I guess since you are using FCE it has the ability to function with those computer specs, but I run into problems with my MacBook and that has 4GB of Ram and a 2.4 Ghz processor. That is with Premiere Pro though. Personally I wouldn't try to use a Mac mini for editing. My preferred use for a mini would be a multi media center that is hooked up to an HD TV and is only used for viewing videos and listening to music. Pair with a wireless keyboard and mouse and you have a cool home theatre setup. Sorry getting off track. Anyway, good luck getting that setup to work for editing. Sky Canyon Wingsuiters

That is Quinn from Z-hills jumping one of Chuck's demo suits. I was at Z-hills when the photo was taken and I don't remember Quinn mentioning anything about hitting a plane. I guess when I saw the picture I automatically thought it was a fluke exit shot. Sky Canyon Wingsuiters

Funny you should mention that about "balls to wall flying". Could you elaborate? I am looking to find a new flying style for my wingsuit flights. What are the physics involved with this "btwf" style? Sky Canyon Wingsuiters

Ha, I guess I would compare a wingsuiter to the space shuttle. We both need parachutes to land too! Sky Canyon Wingsuiters
