:11:3 3 day weekend, so lots of jumps. Got in some cool group jumps, and did a few hop&pops. Got in a couple of jumps on a cobalt 135 today as well. Very fun weekend.

I've been driving a sport car with a manual for 5 years now. Looking at picking up a new truck here in the next few months... it will be an automatic.

No pilot today But we'll have one tomorrow

my baglock last weekend stood me up. 145lb exit weight, 150sqft canopy.

no RR's yet... *knock on wood* I've had line twists several times... but on one of my hop&pops this past weekend I had a baglock. Interestingly enough, since I hopped out and pulled at 7k, it stood me up and when I looked up and saw the bag floating around above me I knew i had a little bit of time to mess with it before chopping. I reached up and grabbed the risers and gave a sharp yank down on them which ended up busting the bottom 2 rubber bands on one side and let the deployment continue on as scheduled. Ended up only having a couple of line twists and was in the saddle by 6k with plenty of time to still play with my canopy *whew* I packed a little bit more carefully the next time.

Does it every get old or routine?

I did 9 solos while waiting to get my A-card signed off... and officially off student-status. While I was still having a blast each time doing different stuff (stupid exits, inducing turns/flips until i couldn't hold them anymore, etc)... I was getting a little bored without anyone else to play with. Now i'm picking up new skills and practicing them... but when I do get bored of doing solos I just go up for a hop&pop, play around for a few seconds then deploy and play around with the canopy. Jumping with other people is most of what makes it all fun -
I'm a way-new jumper, and don't know all the details of your jump/history... but, IMO, an instructor who tells a student on his first jump after coming back from an injury that the next jump is make-or-break is just crazy (especially instability on exit which seems to be a common problem with alot of students). From watching some of the other students at my DZ progress, it has just taken practice and experience to make it all click together... i've seen some that scared the hell out of me and watched the instructors work with them weekend after weekend until it did all did finally click one day, and they are still progressing through the program now. If the instructor is ready to give up on you already, i'd find another instructor or another dropzone if need be. Different teaching methods work for different people. Your current DZ isn't the only game in town, there are others around who also have top-notch instruction, and i'm confident they'd be more than willing to work with you.

it's pretty normal. I'd get used to being a little sore, especially if you're not an extremely active person already. Skydiving is a pretty physically demanding sport. I've been jumping pretty much every weekend for the last 2.5 months, and usually something is sore each monday morning. My arms are sore today from playing with front-riser dives all weekend... also the mystery cuts, bruises, and scrapes never fail to appear a few days after the weekend. (Some from jumping... others from the drunken activities afterwards )

0:7: lots of beer owed on first weekend with license.

stupid people are everywhere... and they never cease to amaze me. I'm currently working for a bank, that had one of the branches was robbed some time ago. The robber presented a note instructing to put all the teller's money into a bag, and then he walked off with the money. The stupid part you ask? He wrote the note on the back of one of his utility bills with his name, current address, etc.

way to go Russel! I saw you wandering around with that handcam and student wondering what you were up to

Don't feel bad. I made a downwinder on the golf course fairway with a double PLF... feet, head, feet, head again... I was so covered in grass after that landing. I also slammed down in the peas pretty good... but hey, I got one of my 2m accuracy landings out of it

:4:2 for 1st jump on my own packjob for getting the A-card all signed off

0:3:2 Cloud ceiling was low here too for most of the day saturday. 1 solo from 9.5k. A hop & pop from 7k, and then another solo from 13k once the clouds cleared out. Sunday was a total wash. for first jump on new (to me) rig. for landing outside the beer line on my H&P... again.

College degree - do you do what you went to school for?
kris2extreme replied to FlyingJ's topic in The Bonfire
I figure i'll probably fall into this category since I'm graduating in a month with a BBA in Banking and I already know I don't want to really be in banking. Though I might go into something on the accounting side of things... accounts payable/receivables or something. All I want is a normal M-F schedule, working very very VERY minimal weekends. Then once I'm out of debt I can become a bum again. -
have you enabled the Guest account in the user settings?

hopefully the weather is good for you. The wind likes to be very unpredictable during the winter months around here. Texas is great regardless though, so i'm sure you'll have loads of fun either way

I love cats. They're always interesting. We've actually had a new kitten here at the house for the last few days... it's been fun watching it wander around and learn the new house.

Freezer. You feel nothing and wish to feel nothing so you find peace in the way you think, however, your emotions are more nuetral than balanced. Coldness and tolerance can be the ways of a passive heart.

my job is dumb. I'm currently doing an internship with a bank. However, the entire district is understaffed as far as management goes... so things are quite screwed up. I was doing fine, but now since the store i'm at has a mostly full day-to-day staff... they are having me (the only part time person) pick up some really screwed up hours. Their most recent bag of tricks include cutting the saturday full-time staff from 3 people down to 2 people... and the scheduling me to come in for a few hours just to cover their lunches. I refuse to let a 3 hour workday destroy an entire saturday of jumping, so i'll probably be quitting the internship very soon.

2 months into this internship where i'm at right now. I despise it. only 1 more month left.

I also use both. "There's a naked chick in the other room" "Lets get nekkid!"

The Midland. It says I could be from one of those big southern cities. I guess Houston counts.

I watched the first episode and thought it was funny... the second episode I could never get into and subsequently stopped watching it.
