    It may not be absolutely wrong but given the context it can be judged to be wrong to a high degree (to a high enough degree that it may be considered absolute).     Just because something is not universal does not make it meaningless. Societies are built upon guidelines (that they create and are thus not absolute), disregarding these guidelines causes the fabric of society to tear (so they are not meaningless). Study philosophy and sociology for more information. PS: I ask you this, if there are universal moral guidelines created by God, what principles did God use to create them? If God created them without any principles then they would be less meaningful (similar to the guidelines presented by authoritarian governments). If God created them with some principles (preferably logic and reasoning) then they would have more meaning but more importantly we should be able to derive the same guidelines using the same principles (preferably logic and reasoning) and thus the guidelines are actually independent of God.     You are trying to state that universal morals exists, that God created universal morals, and therefore God exists. The problem is you are stating that God created universal morals before you prove that God exists. This is bad logic, you have to prove that God exists before you can prove that God created anything.     The same argument that was given for murder can be given for stealing. Societies have never believed the act of killing someone is wrong in and of itself, it depended on who and why. Societies have never believed the act of stealing from someone is wrong in and of itself, it depended on who, what, and why. This is because morals were most likely created by man (hopefully through logic and reasoning) in an attempt to create social guidelines that benefited the individuals and the group. Example: Do Not Steal Benefits the individual because it lowers your chance of being robbed.     I believe in the existence of God if we define God as the preternatural being believed to be the supreme reality. I am concerned about ones definition of supreme reality and ones actions to attempt to match reality to their definition of supreme reality since humans have limited mental capacities and are not fully able to grasp reality let alone supreme reality. ----- So it is not possible to believe in Karma from a scientific viewpoint instead of a religious viewpoint? Karma is the sum of all actions (causes) of an individual and the effects those actions (causes) have on the present and future of the individual.     Depends on the state. More enlightened places like Colorado legally relieve residents of liability when they use force in self-defense within their domiciles. I don't know the state by state laws ... Remember, in America it costs a lot of tax payer money to hospitalize and then incarcerate criminals so make sure you are accurate. Is that better?     Don't forget to go to the range and become familiar with loading, turning on/off safety, and firing your weapon (along with everyone that may use it). PS: My home defense is a State Trooper who lives next door and leaves the patrol car parked in the driveway every night. Makes a good deterrent. I would like a pistol and safe but I can't afford it and at this point don't think I need it. "That looks dangerous." Leopold Stotch

PS: I am just off student status so take this with a grain of salt but I believe as a student if you show up on good and bad weather days and display that you want and are willing to learn and become a part of the community someone will teach you for free.     No kids, but the girlfriend might have to use it, ergo I think a 20 ga might be the way to go. Semi auto would give me the double tap opportunity... Buckshot with a deer slug chaser.
