  1. We have to rehabilitate prisoners and give them something to start with once they are released or they are more likely to reaffend. "That looks dangerous." Leopold Stotch

  3. Uh? That's a pretty strong statement, which as stated I do not grasp. Can you elaborate? Consider Orwell's 1984. That's what it means. Sura 9, verse 29 - compare/contrast Mein Kampf - compare/contrast. Green Eggs and Ham - compare/contrast "That looks dangerous." Leopold Stotch
  4. There is a higher risk that your plane will have a malfunction that causes it to crash than your plane being hijacked causing it to crash. However, for most people fear is often irrational. "That looks dangerous." Leopold Stotch
  5. In the US, the First Amendment already gives them that rein. Incorrect. You are allowed to practice your religion to the fullest extent so long as it complies with all other laws (this is not free rein). Native Americans, Rastafarians, etc... are not allowed to perform rituals that do not comply with laws regarding drug cultivation and usage. Strawman argument. These guys were not smoking ganja or taking peyote on the plane. The original statement was that the First Amendment gave religion free rein and the reply was providing a case in which it doesn't. Please read previous posts before replying to statements made. "That looks dangerous." Leopold Stotch
  6. It is a sad state of affairs when people believe that all cops are corrupt liars. (There are some corrupt people in every profession because every profession is filled with people and some people are corrupt. That doesn't make everyone in every profession corrupt.) PS: Have you ever gone to serve a warrant and get shot? "That looks dangerous." Leopold Stotch

  8. It's interesting to see who behaves with dignity, whether they win or lose and who doesn't.... regardless of whether they win or lose. "These bastards who run our country are a bunch of conniving, thieving, smug pricks who need to be brought down and removed and replaced with a whole new system that we control." Michael Moore "I would like to apologize for referring to George W. Bush as a deserter. What I meant to say is that George W. Bush is a deserter, an election thief, a drunk driver, a WMD liar, and a functional illiterate. And he poops his pants." Michael Moore Who is behaving with dignity whether they win or lose? 10. There is a fine line between using your rights and abusing your rights. I don't believe we should ever take away our rights or others rights. We should learn how to use them appropriately and so should others though. Just because you can do almost anything at anytime doesn't mean you should do almost anything at anytime. I personally don't think there is ever a good time to stand up on an airplane and begin praying outload (any religion) in a foriegn language. Given the time and place of the current event and the similarities to the recent historical event I think it was a particulary bad time and place to do such. "That looks dangerous." Leopold Stotch
  11. Don't need to, we've killed tens of thousands by invading their country and dropping bombs on them. But we haven't killed tens of thousands by hijacking airplanes and crashing them into buildings (hence the context which you refuse to take into account). So killing them our way is acceptable, but their killing us their way is unacceptable? Should Arabs be afraid to be on a plane with Americans because we have killed tens of thousands of them (as you have stated)? No, because we haven't killed tens of thousands of them (as you have stated) using a plane (hence the context which you refuse to take into account). "That looks dangerous." Leopold Stotch
  12. The internment of (legal) Muslims is against everything this country stands for. (Illegal Muslims should be deported instead of being placed in internment camps.) This country (along with many others) has made that mistake before and should learn from it so as not to repeat it. "That looks dangerous." Leopold Stotch
  13. This attachment is just for you! "That looks dangerous." Leopold Stotch
  14. Billvon, There are conflicting news sources. This has and is leading to some amount of confusion (which usually occurs when discussing events taken from news stories). Can you give a link to the story you read so that I have a more well rounded idea of what transpired. Thanks, Leopold Stotch "That looks dangerous." Leopold Stotch
  15. Not all of those planes are US planes and not all of those planes are commercial. However, it does show that if you are flying from the southern portion of the US you should be aware of Cuban hijackers more than Arab hijackers. What was the number fatalities of all those hijackings? How about after exclude deaths of the hijackers? We were discussing the issue of being hijacked, not the issue of dying, so the amount of deaths does not matter. (You can follow the previous link and tally the deaths up if you want to.) PS: It does not appear that the goal of any of the Cuban hijackings was to kill mass amounts of civilians though. "That looks dangerous." Leopold Stotch
  16. Total death count was less then 2500 on 9/11. More people are killed then that every month in alcohol related motor vechicle accidents. I'm not sure where you got your tens of thousands of people figure at. Comparing people killed in alcohol related motor vehicle accidents to people killed in hijacked planes is comparing apples to orangutans. Read all the previous posts and you will understand where tens of thousands comes from. "That looks dangerous." Leopold Stotch

  18. It appears as though some of this debate centers around misinformation. I was informed that they (three of the six) stood together (not next to each other since their seats were not next to each other) on the plane and prayed out loud together. It was this act that I stated was inappropriate. If they stood and prayed together in the terminal before boarding the plane than I retract my statement. "That looks dangerous." Leopold Stotch

  20. I already did search wikipedia and posted the following: So your statement is wrong. Nonsense - between 1968 and 1972 alone there were 124 hijackings of US planes. Once again, can you please supply your sources. I looked at wikipedia like you mentioned and did not find that information. "That looks dangerous." Leopold Stotch
  21. But you aren't taking into account history. Christians have not commited a terrorist act invovling the hijacking of Arab airplanes and crashing them into Arab buildings in an attempt to kill Arab people. If the situation was reversed then I would be ok with such people being asked to exit the plane (if they were first asked to stop what they were doing and did not). "That looks dangerous." Leopold Stotch

  23. According to the news stories (which aren't always accurate or containing all information) the Imams were asked to exit the aircraft but refused at which time security became involved and then the Imams were handcuffed. If these events are correct then handcuffing the Imams was the proper way to handle the situation at that point. "That looks dangerous." Leopold Stotch
  24. Because the context of this discussion is about the removal of Muslims from an airplane. I just hate how you always wake up with them nibbling at your arm. "That looks dangerous." Leopold Stotch
