I'm not trying to start any old debate. However. In this post http://www.dropzone.com/cgi-bin/forum/gforum.cgi?post=433474#433474, I asked Bill Booth what he thought of camera flyers and the Skyhook. His answer was that previously, entaglements with the reserve bridle bouncing around was a big concern, and that concern was aleviated by the skyhook controlling the bridle. This conflicted with my thoughts that most entaglements were caused by the departing main, not the departing freebag and bridle. I consider it a very rare case where it's wise to disagree with Bill Booth.... Any thoughts? _Am __ You put the fun in "funnel" - craichead.

It's called a Honeypot, and has been used for decates to capture criminals. It'd be no different then the police opening a bank with poor security, and waiting to see who robbed them. Providing opportunity to commit a crime is not entrapment in itself. It's only when the police actually encourage people (c'mon, man... just do it!) that they can be accused of entrapment. _Am __ You put the fun in "funnel" - craichead.

In the womens forum, he told us that he didn't pass his second static line jump at Eloy, because he couldn't find his ripcord. Eloy != StaticLine != Ripcord. Do the math. _Am __ You put the fun in "funnel" - craichead.

Dubya says he's alive, which is good enough to prove Bill's point that we shouldn't be so quick to believe the stories as they first come out. _Am __ You put the fun in "funnel" - craichead.

Mister Bill and Tandem question

I think I know what your answer will be, but I'll ask anyways. What are your thoughts on the skyhook and camera jumpers? _Am __ You put the fun in "funnel" - craichead. -
I grew up in a residential neighbourhood literally a 11 minute drive from downtown, in Toronto. It was literally a 45 minute drive to get OUT of the city. In the immediate neighbourhood there were 3 known families of racoons, one of which lived under a neighbours back porch. There was also 2 families of foxes. There were even cases of coyote's that had entered the city by following the high tension electrical corridors, which were usually connected to large park systems. The animals would slowly penetrate the city. _Am __ You put the fun in "funnel" - craichead.

Nobody is suggesting a stalemate. There are a ton of reports coming out of Iraq that they're essentially taking a 'breather' - waiting for supply lines and reinforments to catch up. There's a very big difference between waiting for more ammunition because you ran out, and a "stalemate". There's even reports that marines on the front lines are running out of rations. What I find most interesting is the stories of the aircraft carrieriers running out of Cruise missles and "smart bombs". The story is that supplies are stuck in the Suez canal for a bit. If you've got some wildly contradictory news source, please post it. I've seen these stories written from at least 4 different newspapers, in three different countries - all with reporters on the front line. On the other hand, General Tommy Franks is denying both that there is a pause, and reports that he had asked Rumsfeld for more troups before the invasion. _Am __ You put the fun in "funnel" - craichead.

American news coverage tends to be very one sided, tends to lack critical thought, and largely repeats what it's been told in news conferences. American news is pretty good at reporting events and factual data, but sucks in terms of insight, analysis, and context. All of the sources I posted above also have reporters on the front lines, traveling along with the troups. There was actually a pretty funny story from the CBC a few days ago, a bunch of Iraqi's tried to surrender one of their reporters. The reporter put the iraqi in the back of their truck, and delivered them to an English base. _Am __ You put the fun in "funnel" - craichead.

The Altimaster folks are at all the bigger boogies giving out new wristbands and new glass... So I don't worry so much if mine gets scratched, I know it'll just get replaced at the next boogie! _Am __ You put the fun in "funnel" - craichead.

www.theglobeandmail.com www.thestar.ca www.nationalpost.ca www.thetimes.co.uk All have war coverage that is far more insightfull then what we're seeing on the cable channels and most US newspapers. Even before the war I'd been getting most of my International news from foreign sources. It really is amazing how poorly these issues are covered in the US. _Am __ You put the fun in "funnel" - craichead.

Not only in opposition to Sun Tzu, but in opposition to the Powell Doctrine... Which I find even more interesting. It seems like yet another example of conflict between Rumsfield who wants to just go, and Powell who was always pushing the diplomacy angle. _Am __ You put the fun in "funnel" - craichead.

Oh! Even better! http://www.cjpc.state.tx.us/stattabs/statecomparison/CrimeIncRate1.pdf These stats, published by The Criminal Justice Policy Council, a Texas state agency, show Texas crime rates to average a full percentage point ABOVE national levels. Better go check yer numbers, dude. _Am __ You put the fun in "funnel" - craichead.

Actually, this is entirely false. Violent crime accross the nation has declined steadily since the early nineties - the height of the "crack wars". I believe the myth of the violent society is largely propagated by the media seeking to boost ratings for their news shows. http://www.ojp.usdoj.gov/bjs/glance/viort.htm Ya got blinders on, dude... _Am __ You put the fun in "funnel" - craichead.

There's a lot more to hardware then bus and processor speeds. I personally think these results are much more indicative of Adobe's focus on the PC platform then it is of any weakness in the Apple platform. _Am __ You put the fun in "funnel" - craichead.

Something to think about. In February of 1994, Apple introduced the Quick Take 100, the first consumer digital camera. It cost $749 and could store 32 images at 320*240 In 2003, the Canon PowerShot G3 costs $770 at bhphotovideo, comes with a 512MB flash card, capable of storing 864 images at 2272x1704. As an added bonus it has a 4X optical zoom. Are you sure you won't regret this next year? _Am __ You put the fun in "funnel" - craichead. -
Yeah, but only when used properly... and that's pretty tough to pull off. Consider the attack on the Tokyo subway, 300 people crammed into a tight compartment, you'd think it'd be a perfect opportunity for a gas attack. The attack only kiilled 7. _Am __ You put the fun in "funnel" - craichead.

I met my girlfriend (craichead) at the DZ, and things are going awesome. RiggerRob once said "skydiving couples never break up, one just looses their turn". I've a few friends who're in the middle of less serious relationships at the DZ. One in particular seemed a bit upset by how quickly she lost her turn. I think the success of dating a jumper at the DZ entirely comes down to making sure that both parties are looking for the same thing, and both understand what the other wants. As in all relationships, comunication is key. _Am __ You put the fun in "funnel" - craichead.

If he does not like forward movement, then he will dislike the Navigator. The Navigator is a tapered nine cell, that will get more forward movement to an equivalently sized triathlon. He'll find the least amount of forward movement under a very large seven cell, either the Traithlon, Spectre, or Icarus Omni. That said, he might enjoy learning to fly modern canopies. Gentle gliding landings are a bit easier on the knees then pounding in... ;) _Am __ You put the fun in "funnel" - craichead.

The idea of using Nuclear weapons in Iraq makes little sense to me. Bush has sold this war largely on the basis of liberating the iraqi population. You can't nuke people you're trying to liberate. Secondly, the idea that this might be a valid technique to save the lives of servicemen is bunk. If the US were truely interested in saving the lives of servicement, they would not have put them at risk in the first place. Bush decided that freeing Iraq was worth the loss of servicemen. Bush made the decision that US lives were worth risking. This is very different then Hiroshima, where LBJ (wasn't it?) decided that taking Japan was NOT worth risking US soldiers, and ruled out an invasion force. Once US troups hit Iraqi soil, Bush made his choice and effectively ruled out "protecting soliders" as a justification for nuclear force. The point of Hiroshima was to seek the surrender of Japan, and it accomplished that goal very effectively. Nuking Baghdad does nothing to further the goal of liberating the Iraqi people. _Am __ You put the fun in "funnel" - craichead.
