Yesterday, the wife and I had a discussion about chicken eggs (no, were not weird, she is a 3rd grade teacher and they have some in an incubator). From the discussion, there is somthing I can't come to understand (if it's true). She claims that as the chicken develops inside the shell, the egg as a whole gains weight. I understand the changes taking place inside the shell but can not understand how, without adding anything to the inside of the protective shell, it gains weight. I argue that the overall weight remains constant. I lost a lot of sleep last night on this and could use some insight. Thoughts? "Always do right. minmal - please disregard any advise I gave you here. Aparently, I don't have a clue as to what I am saying in regards to skydiving as I am pretty new myself. Of course, I would just like to say that yes, you need to speak to your instructors about your jumps and what you intend to do... opps, sorry, there I go again... please disregard. BTW, if you need any advise on aviation safety related items (besides skydiving), let me know. It's part of what I do for a living. "Always do right. My hats off to you. Good luck in the puddle jumpers boot camp and Rescue Swimmer school. I was a swimmer in the Navy for the first 14.5 of my 23 years (so far) and got to do multiple tours of duty flying mountain SAR as well. There is no greater feeling than that of having saved the life of a fellow man or woman. Be strong and learn well. Your life will also depend on what you learn in training. Yes there is one rule. Have fun. Enjoy that you are not trying to accomplish anything for your instructor. Just stay stable and altitude aware and pull at the right time. Enjoy the scenery. Thanks Doc, you made me laugh. As I age (only 42 now) I am becoming more aware of the problems I am likely to face soon as I have a few risk factors, mostly genetic, related to certain types of cancer and hope to head it all off as soon as possible. I found out a little while ago that I am not headed to Afghanistan for a year as was thought. Not that I would shirk my responsibility if ordered to go but, my orders to Orlando, Fl are back on for June and year-round skydiving (minus sub-zero temps) awaits.
