I'm getting one this year. Last year I skipped it and ended up missing a week of classes. I lost 10 pounds in 3 days, even though I was drinking as much water as I could and eating whatever I could keep down (not much). Proabably should have gone to the hospital but I didn't think I could make it on the bus or on foot, and I didn't want to bother anybody for a ride. I do not want a repeat.

In the US there really isn't a packer rating. Mains can be packed by the parachutist who will be using it next, a rigger, or a person under the supervision of a rigger. Reserves must be packed by a rigger.

Not quite. FilmGIMP is an editor for doing touchup work on individual frames of a movie, like hair and dust removal when converting from film to digital. It operates on frames stored as individual files, not an entire movie in a file. It is not a non-linear editor. There are a few NLEs for Unix-type systems, such as Kino and Cinerella. Freshmeat also has a few more likely prospects.

Parachutes Are Fun is a DZ, as far as I can tell. Their website says they have a King Air year round, but I know for sure that it's at a DZ in Illinois for the winter. I'd call before driving out there.

A lot of DZs get rid of their turbines in the winter because they aren't profitable to operate. This has to be planned well in advance to get contracts sorted out and whatnot. I'm sure they try to time it to coincide with the reduction in students that cold weather brings, but it's impossible to predict the weather weeks or months in advance. I'd give it a few more weeks. Once the weather gets a little colder fewer students will show up.

Disclaimer: I am not an experienced skydiver, nor a rigger. If I recall correctly, only the Cypres and Astra cut the reserve closing loop. I believe that FXCs and Sentinels pull the pin mechanically. I have no idea how a partial pull on the reserve handle would affect these units. D'oh, Lisa beat me to it. I should just skip fact-checking next time.

Next time you log in, do a "/join #Dropzone2" I have op status there and the offender has been kickbanned. If Slappy could pop in and do the kickban in #Dropzone, it would be appreciated. Update: He left before I finished this.

More than 6 months pay at minimum wage. If somebody swiped half of my paycheck for a year, I would expect them to go to jail.

During school I can afford 3 a week, give or take. I've done an average of 4 a month (student status, summer break, saving for a rig), but about 20 in the last 2 months.

You input method is broken. fscanf only reads one line at a time, at least on my system. So what you need to do is loop and keep a count of what line you are on, then do your fscanf like: fscanf(inputy,"%d",&inputarrayy[lineNum]); /* hint: start at zero */ There are far more efficient ways to do this. Your method of input takes O(n^2) operations, while it can be easily done in O(n) time.

Depends how you define a load. I've seen our DZ do at least 8 c-182 loads between 2 pm and sundown. That was all S/L students, so they only went to 3500-4000, but turnaround was slow (gearing students, barely enough gear to go back-to-back, etc).

Just trying to clear up some misinformation... Ad-Aware will not stop these messages. The ability to receive them is built into Windows. You can shut it off, as detailed in a previous post. The reason that Kazaa breaks when you run Ad-Aware is that it Kazaa is full of spyware. By reinstalling it you are just undoing everything that Ad-Aware fixed. Try Kazaa Lite instead.

I don't know the details, I just got a massmail from Anita saying that Archway has one of SDC's Super Otters for the weekend. The Caravan left last weekend and they were supposed to get Parachutes Are Fun's King Air for the winter, the Otter thing was an unexpected surprise.

How could they pass up the Super Otter? Of course, some of us jerks have homework and couldn't go anyway.
