  1. Because he did his job that he was paid to do? TRUST ME...I'm not a Cochran fan but....
  2. All that was needed to say about it has been said and the thread was locked. Let 'some people' know that the word is out. But here is the link if your interested. Thread is http://www.dropzone.com/cgi-bin/forum/gforum.cgi?post=1544968#1544968.
  3. Yeah, I need to find some of those hot wood fetching squirrels for our dz!!! They could sniff wood out from miles away.......
  4. A body can do all this also....something to consider The only thing that has nearly hit me on the ground was a hook knife dropped by some jumpers doing crew and they had a wrap. Apparently, the one threw his knife after he cut lines off of him.
  5. They offer a nice relaxing 30-40 min ride to altitude when full! And if jumping from a cargo door, you really have to watch how many people get in the door.(it's pretty far aft)
  6. I can get you in touch with Brian Smith at The Ohio State University. I(and a couple others) assisted him in getting a class together where students get course credit for a skydiving class. The course helped get the OSU club up and going. Now they do a bunch of fundraisers and raffles to assist in getting newer jumpers some financial breaks. The club sponsored a lot of the collegiate national fees the last couple years. He is currently working on a second(4 credit hour) class in addition to the current program. If the proposal goes through, the university will allow him to "cater" the class to the students skydiving level. IE: he can make the course AFF Lv2-7 for a new student who just passed the first class.....OR he can make it so the student can get the credit for passing the coaches course if they have 100 jumps. Anyway, it's been going on for a couple years now...and we have OVER 100 students signed up for the spring semester!! As far as covering your expenses now....Find a rigger to teach you to how to pack....Be patient, it might take a little while, but think about what your working towards!
  7. "Yeah, but didn't you do 250 tandems out of it?! What about the other 150?" I was talking to a new guy about something and I told him a similar saying like" I can show you video of 200 aff that I........" and he came back with that quote above. Damn kids nowadays.
  8. ....traveling to wherever I can make a few bucks until the end of april!!!
  9. DUH! After seeing that "sexy, skydivin, librarian" shot I took of you on your posts now.......we might have to do a full pictorial!!
  10. How about a crockpot full of boil'd pee-nutz and sweet tea in that there fidge?
  11. Since it's still in question whether you "truely" consumed it AND kept the Jager down, I don't know.... [/typing like Pyke] Ahhh, kids these days.....'hangers' get you caught... and like I said, I respect a real game....
  12. I'm in.......I'll bring the bottle, We will pour it into 2 glasses....I'll drink one, you the other! And then........LOOK OUT PYKE'S GONNA ....can somebody get him some paper towels and water!!! Hey, charity is for charity...But I RESPECT the game too much to have "fun" when there's $$ involved!! Just get Fast Eddie to watch. I sat shuffling while looking at him in the eye during the last sat. tourney. For 20 min he wouldn't take his eyes off my hands!!! **edit....new dz policy? I thought that was the FAA motto that replaced their old one..."We're with the FAA...and we're here to help!"
  13. Really?! I thought this was a friendly game.... what do you guys normally play for? Is it going to be a 10 person tourney or just a few of us? I'll have to monitor my alcohol intake if I'm playing. That last table started to get rough on me because of all that J.E.LL.........O! I can still deal pretty well drunk.....my playing/reading skills go WAY down though....
  14. LOL!!!! Sat night buy in? Why am I getting this feeling I'm not going back north this year?? Quote from the guy who brought me up through the sport:"Hit on em all.....it's good practice." Good luck pot and kettle
  15. Only if you pre-chew it for me too! Oh, wait I forgot...Pyke don't eat meat since that time in high school..... ....says the guy who's making big bucks at work behind his puter on DZ.com all day! [chef's voice] Oh it's on....you've done been served children...[/chef's voice]
  16. That's is true... at the 1st dz I worked at we had a smaller jav for the little girls. It was built for 5'-5'6 frame and when we "eyed" up the rig you could tell that their arms would clear the housing for the 3 ring loop....but not by much. Teaching the "swipe" was just our policy at the dz. I do agree with properly fitting gear the swipe would be unnecessary...but unfortunately student gear is student gear. They are made to fit a variety of people and your not always going to have a rig to fit every person "perfectly".
  17. There are times with little girls and the location of their handles where at "full arms extention" they are just barely pulling 6 inches out. I think the swipe is a good ideal to ensure a clean cut-away. We've had more incidents with incomplete cut-aways or improper sequence than we have jumpers running out of time during their emergency procedures. Pulling to full arm extention with a swipe ensures the clean cutaway.(this doesn't mean they take their eye off of the resevere during the swipe)
  18. Nope just the bike....I checked the weather back home and decided it wasn't time yet!! There's too much going on down here to take off to the cold!! (something really cool might happen here at the dz tmr!)
  19. You teach your students to hang on to the handles or else? The last thing I want my students to worry about as they go through their emergency procedures for the first time in real life is holding on to the handles.
  20. The "diving" your talking about is normally because the weight in the harness/your shoulders are not symetrical during the deployment....especially on a tapered canopy such as a spectre your jumping. Be easy on the packers...you might find yourself packing for yourself!!!
  21. I got to do several from the chopper in Wildwood last year including a 83 year old man! Pretty tight quarters in there, but what a blast letting go. I agree that you can have them out of any aircraft and good presentation will keep you from having one. But, I've seen more spin/near side--spins from a side door because the TM didn't present his chest to the wind. It's something your taught from your first jump...present out the door! It'll save you a lot of headaches and grey hairs if you do it.
  22. Hey, what can I say?!?! I was bored those 3 years I spent in jail!! That, and I showed David Blaine some stuff about freefall....and he showed me some stuff about cards! **My hands are like WMD's** .....to pyke
  23. What, am i your bitch now pyke? You speaking for me on the threads?..posting my name on the list?...Next thing you know your going to be ordering my food at dinner?! No, I'm going to try my best to be there A.S.A.P. But I don't know when yet. Anybody who knows what happens to me in the winter knows that I always start with plan A and end up at plan M before it's all said and done.(it's out of my hands) But If I come I WILL be there by sat night so I can play/ deal/ play and deal...whatever!! The look on pyke's face when he busted out was priceless!! The only thing better will be when I get to knock him out as a player this time instead of the dealer!! J I'll be looking out for you at the table too!!!
  24. And I'll make sure I send a Harley too! you'll see....
  25. I saw this on a BASE video,"Thread the Needle II." One guy on the bridge holding a P/C of a guy who had another P/C from the guy next to him. They left together, the 1st guy got P/C assisted, and as he opened he held onto jumper 2 P/C.......the second guy got almost 2 sec freefall from 220'!!!!! There's info in the Base forum about how to find the dvd....
