  1. Isn't it a great comfort to know you can do anything you want in life to anyone you want.. but as long as you get last rights.. and ask for forgiveness that you will be saved?? I hate to say it, but you have missed the point entirely . The purpose of any person seeking spiritual insight is to be able to live and do no harm to yourself or others. In the end, it is the hope that God will say welcome home my good and faithful servant. ...
  2. ---Second the Christian god is omnipotent and omnipresent therefore the concept of free will is a farce… I disagree, free will can coexist inside of omnipotence. --How can the Christian god exist when “non-resistant non-belief “exists???????????? I will be more than happy to take a stab at it, but you will need to provide a definition . And while you are at it, what is your definition of sin? ...
  3. Since SIN is an entirely HUMAN construct, I have no problem in comiting as much as I can get away with. I have yet to feel the need to confess any of it, or that it's going to send me to a hot place, or a cloudy place if I confess. I am happy to SIN as I am not constricted by a faith dominated by madmen. Are you ? Sin is a toxic by-product of the human free will. It has damaging effects on all who are touched by it. If the Catholic Church can lead a person to God and show them a way to escape the ravages of sin, I am all for it. ...
  4. --Do you believe in fate? My personal belief is that we can have a life characterized by destiny if we choose that path. We can also choose to make our lives one big disaster full of missed opportunities. --Some say the world will end a certain way. I believe the end of the world and death will just the beginning of something else. Matter and energy are eternal.
  5. Good grief. Non-sequitur piled on top of assumption piled on top of wishful thinking. I think you've demonstrated my point brilliantly. Well then, I guess we can both sit back and feed good about ourselves, because you validate my point as well. ...
  6. The sum of that equation would of course be God. That does not even make sense. Of course it doesn't. The concept of God is foreign to you.
  7. your unifying equation is called M theory. It has absolutly nothing to do with a character in a storybook written by people who had absolutly NO understanding of the natural world, at random times over many hundreds of years and endlessly transcribed translated altered messed with and interpreted by lunatics hell bent on personal power and control over populations for thier own gain. Once further theoretical and practical work is done on M theory, I'm certain that an equation like you mention will be constructed. Will that then be enough to call it a day for the brainwashed flock? I doubt it. Unfortunatly we as a race are excellent liars, we lie to each other and we lie to ourselves in the face of overwhemling EVIDENCE to the contrary. We continue to be hindered by outragous beliefs formulated when we were basically in the bronze age. why this is I dont know. how anyone in the modern world could possibly even consider reigion is beyond me. It's sad. There's no need for it and it causes all sorts of suffering (recent Isreal / Gaza conflict...) I couldn't agree more with your analysis of religion. Many have taken the beauty and simplicity of God's Words and turned them into a religion for the reasons you mentioned. This is regrettable but does not diminish the intended value of God's Word for spiritual edification. You have also described the dilemma we face because of our creative intelligence, good vs evil. But you have failed to provide an answer for the harm caused by our evil acts or a means of escaping them. As a species we have proven that reason and logic alone are insufficient to save us from ourselves. ...
  8. No. It's the complete lack of evidence or even a coherent argument for the existence of god that makes the god hypothesis highly improbable. It's got bugger all to do with certainty. Evidence can present itself in many different forms. Arguments are useless when concepts are foreign. Intelligence that allows us to observe a perfectly ordered universe ,has to be something other than coincidence. There has to be some unifying equation that describes the interchangeability of energy, matter, time, space, and intelligence, since they all came from the same place. The sum of that equation would of course be God. ...
  9. You see, people hear phrases like uncertainty principle, wave-particle duality and probablistic, and they think that quantum mechanics means you can't prove anything so there is enough wiggle room for any old crap to be true. QM has to be the single most misunderstood subject on the face of the planet. It's a crying shame. Even so, the illusion of certainty that causes one to close the door on a relationship with God based on an incomplete understanding of science, is the biggest crying shame. ...
  10. Right, you have nothing but an old book that is only evidence that people were able to write. There is nothing to back up any claims of any supernatural events or beings. No evidence of spiritualism or any deity. You can quote the bible all you want. You have a really convoluted view of the world more delusional then anything. We shall see. ...
  11. I am nothing and likewise have nothing to prove. I base my case on the Living Word of God. "If you can't see God in His Words, then even if He raised someone from the dead you would still not believe." Luke 16:31 ...
  12. Please understand this is not intended as a personal attack but my comments are out of concern.... You cleary are not able to repsond to any post in an intelliable way??? You seem extremely delusional and incable of grasping reality, please seek help if you need it before you harm yourself or others. This is my last post in this thread... good luck and I hope you recover. I agree trading personal attacks will accomplish nothing. But honestly, it sound like the main obstacle we are encountering is that the boundaries of reality are a lot bigger than you have made allocations for in your personal construction of what you think is real And I guess we will just have to wait and see it that was really your last word. Hopefully not, I enjoy conversing with you. ...
  13. Only if you define illusion to mean real. An electron may be described by a wavefunction and have wave-like properties (under certain circumstances) but it is still as real as real can be. To say that everything is just waves and therefore an illusion is to misunderstand quantum mechanics. The other problem is what is really happening and what we think is happening when we try to measure what we are observing. ...
  14. There is no other reality. Spiritualism that you speak of has "no way to measure or quantify". Just like you describe your god. It's all in your imagination. It sounds like you are starting to get it. There is true reality which for the most part remains hidden. And then there is the holographic projection of reality we create in our imaginations based on the input of our senses. I feel much safer with Gods take on reality than some human contrived substitute. ...
  15. So to sum up what you are saying, god lives in ones imagination, through the “feeling” that god is there. So round we go in circles, as I have quite clearly at categorically shown you the feeling that god exists is in its self evidence for his non-existence. So to repeat myself again to you, and maybe this time you will take note… Apart from our feelings about what constitutes reality, what do any of us really have. You feel God doesn't exist, I feel that He does exist. You have no more proof to back up your feelings than I do. My feelings are based on a body of knowledge that claims God as its author and has real time benefits for its adherents. I have experienced those benefits which is the basis for my feelings that God exists. What is the basis for your feelings? Do your feelings of a nonexsistant god allow you to reach your highest potential? If it does, then you have found the keys to the meaning of the mystery of life. If it doesn't, you need to keep looking. As for me, I have found the keys. ...
  16. How about just for once, you provide a single piece of evidence for the existence of your god and not more excuses??? Can you do this??? As you might of guessed, there is no way to measure or quantify God. If your reality is limited to the scientific method then He could as easily be there as not. If you wish to know God you can only know Him through your spirit. If you deny your spiritual perspicasity then God will always be unavailable for you. If that is your choice, may you be fit and multiply. Since you really have no other purpose here. ...
  17. How can you not question the existence of your god, when all you have is excuses for his failures? I do question the existence of God along with every thing else. I just read an article that noted the observation of an unexplained interference in a quantum gravity wave detector in Germany, time and space may be even stranger that what we thought. A relationship with God is only meaningful when you spend your efforts addressing the personal needs God has provided answers for. In these areas, God is a powerful ally. Looking for answers where none are available, just makes you crazy. Faith that God is in control is all that is needed. ...
  18. -- Well, per Bill Cole the world was going to end in 2006 (possibly) but is definitely going to end in 2007. --Just thought you all should know, what with the Convention canceled and all. So his date may be a little off, his prediction will be here in the blink of an eye, cosomologically speaking. I guess the question is, is this all there is? ...
  19. "To whom much is given , much is expected But the kids are getting given more than I am! (Assuming the conventional view that heaven is nicer then earth) Sorry, good question, but the answer is not part of the little bit of information I have been able to scrape together in my spiritual journey. I concentrate mostly on issues that are relevant to living a godly life, and leave speculation to a later time. ...
  20. OMG...how big is your bag of excuses!!!!!! why do you insist on defending a baby killer...i just dont get it... in one sentance you are saying that god is a loving parent and in another you are defending him over the murder if children??????? Also its not hard to understand, every single child in that list died as a DIRECT result of faith in someone who isnt there. EVERY single one would have most likely survived if that had recieved reall medical aid. Please understand, I recognize that you are asking a lot of good questions, that I have also asked, that demand answers. The only problem is that in some cases there are no clear cut answers, we will have to wait for clarification at a future time. In other cases it is criminal neglect by deluded parents trying to create god in their image. What I am saying is death as a result of human evil is very bad, death from the Hand of God is good, since it is part of our experience here. I don't see where death makes God evil. Death is a part of His plan for us. It is just the next step in the progression. ...
  21. So if I'd been a cot death or whatever, I'd get a free pass, but just because I survived to maturity I need to follow all these nonsensical rules? Why do the kids get special treatment? That's not particularly fair, is it? "To whom much is given , much is expected." I think innocence or lack of it in children has something to do with reaching an age of accountability. There really aren't any rules. You can do and think what ever you want. There are directions though, if you have a particular destination in mind. ...
  22. Well you must be special then because he was far from "all things a loving parent could be" when he let all these children die.. So why did he let them all die, is it perhaps becuase he might just not exist????? Death is certainly a sad event because we can no longer be with the ones we love. But death is very much a part of our experience here. Death as a result of criminal behavior should be prosecuted to the fullest extent of the law, since only God has the right to number our days. I can't help but believe that children have a special place in Heaven when they die. The death of a child is hard to understand, but it doesn't stop me from seeking what I may understand. ...
  23. Also as a loving parent, I would think it a horrible failure on my part if I didn't educate my children well, and supervise them kindly, teaching them how to live safe and well, and warning them of unknown or unexpected dangers. If they asked me to butt out I might. But if they didn't, it would be unconscionable to ignore them, to offer them no comfort, protection, or advice. Indeed, society would deem me fit for prison if I did. It would be felony criminal neglect. Yet that is God: An absentee mom--who lets kids get kidnapped and murdered or run over by cars, who does nothing to teach them what they need to know, who never sits down like a loving parent to have an honest chat with them, and who would let them starve if someone else didn't intervene. As this is unconscionable, almost any idea of a god that fits the actual evidence of the world is unconscionable. And any such deity could never be the Christian God All good points. Ultimately what one gravitates to is what can be understood and is meaningful. I can not speak for anyone else, but for me, God has been all the things a loving parent could be. I did have to relinquish control before I could experience what God had to offer. I don't know why the suffering in the world is allowed to continue, but the suffering I have experienced personally, has brought me closer to God. ...
  24. This is where you and I differ considerably, I have quite the opposite, I have absolutely no craving to know god, which I feel is truly a blessing in my life. Many consider this to be simply biological, the "god gene". However this does pose a tricky theory for the god followers... however I post this knowing full well that it will simply be dismissed and ignored by you in your typical close minded approach to your belief in god. .... Weak theistic evidence, then, provides strong atheistic proof. No worries.
