  1. Why? For regular jumpers it can be Skydive Monroe, for internet surfers it can be what ever gets their attention and gets them jumping. I am just glad it is there and open. The city announced last week, in the local Walton County Newspaper, that it will accommodate the new dropzone by clearing out a lot more trees to provide us with an even larger landing area. I will leave it to Gary to give the exact dimensions of the enlarged area.
  2. Already have the first AFF class scheduled for next Saturday. You really need to come out and jump with us again, Rick. It is nice looking down and seeing familiar landmarks.
  3. No worries, we will be there!
  4. So I can just keep looking at different sites until i get the forecast I want. That works! Now I can be a weather god like you Max. Quote WOW, what a great day jumping through the friendly skies of Monroe once again. There was a good turnout. The weather cooperated, it was partly cloudy some of the day, and rained 30% of the time. Dave, I put in a good word for you to the rest of the Pantheon up here on Mt Olympus. We are all in agreement, if you think you can handle it, COME ON UP AND JOIN US...
  5. Are you sure about that? http://www.usairnet.com/cgi-bin/launch/code.cgi?Submit=Go&sta=KAHN&state=GAQuote I like my site better, it says partly cloudy with a 30% chance of rain. http://www.wunderground.com/cgibin/findweather/getForecastquery=30607&hourly=1&yday=142&weekday=Saturday
  6. Skydive Now Atlanta( Skydive Monroe) is now OPEN. Jumpers in Northeast & Central Georgia need to come by and check us out. First load takes off 9:00 Saturday morning.
  7. Well, when you come by to check on your plane, I hope you stop in and say "hi". I will give you a tour of the new hangar. And bring your gear, we can have a jump for old times sake. After all, you were one of my AFF Instructors there at Monroe. Bill is considering a second floor as needed. That will increase the overall floor space. Drive down Poplar Street, you can see all of the cut down trees in the North and East areas. The trees on the west side are slated to removed soon. Bill said he would like to buy your 182, any interest in selling it? Peace.
  8. Goodness Gary, are you ever going to bury the hatchet? Monroe will be a great place whether or not you ever give it your blessing. The runway has been extended considerably in both directions. Many of the trees in the North, East, and West areas of the airport are being removed. Making the landing area is much larger than before. "Skydive Atlanta", "Atlanta Skydive", "Skydive Now Atlanta" , so what, do all the dropzones start suing each other? The fence across the west landing area is going to be changed to accommodate the original landing space. The sky is plenty big enough for us all. Be happy.
  9. It is under construction but it will be, Skydive Now Atlanta.com
  10. The hangar construction will be completed next week and jumping should start around the 3rd week of May. Aircraft will include a King Air and a 182. The airport has been expanded on both ends, so there is even more landing area than before. The new hangar is four times larger than the old one. Monroe once was the place to be, and soon will be again.
  11. I don't know, but you should get a patch to wear on your jumpsuit and a plaque to hang on the wall. Fill out a form and send $20 to USPA, I bet they could come up with something.
  12. Two factors come into play when diagnosing an aliment, the skill of the diagnostician and the budget you are allowed to run diagnostic tests. The biggest difficulty I have is being able to run the tests necessary to make a definitive diagnosis as opposed to a symptomatic diagnosis. All I can say though, is that it is much easier to work with animals than people:)
  13. I love this life and am having a blast. I also greatly anticipate the state of eternal awareness that comes after death and the lifting of the veil between us and God.
  14. Well, if intelligent life were to be discovered (or if they discovered us) elsewhere in the universe, would that change your religious beliefs any? It would seem to me that the repetitive pattern of an infinite number of suns with orbiting habitable planets, that could support intelligent life with their own genetic code, language and culture; would be more an indication of a designer than random chance. But, if we are alone in the universe , then maybe random chance is the force controlling our destinies after all. ...
  15. to believe that, right at this moment, we are all being watched by an invisible, undetectible entity who knows everything that ever has happened or ever will happen, and who makes things happen in the physical universe without leaving any detectible trace (not using any matter or energy), therefore violating all kinds of physical laws. That kind of "craziness" is called "faith", and it's perfectly acceptible to lots of people, but I can't see how that isn't crazy but believing in something that doesn't contradict anything in physics or chemistry is crazy. Hey Don, Its not that hard to believe or understand. He does it through quantum entanglement and the realm of nonlocalities. There is no detectable trace, doesn't require energy, is instantaneous, and it defies what little we know about the laws of physics. ...
  16. --I agree, as pride increases our perceived need for God decreases. And yes, there is nothing like a good personal disaster to reacquaint us with our humility and renew our ability to see the issues clearly. MaadMax, that's not like you. 434 did not mention pride at all. Increased wealth allows for more education; good education moves people to question more, and not blindly follow previously accepted mores; seems to result in a decrease in peoples perceived need for religion. It is my belief that if wealth and education can eliminate the need for God, then God has been replaced by pride. As said in the Bible, " It is easier for a camel to go through the eye of the needle gate, than for a rich man to enter the kingdom of heaven." _____________________________ _____________________________ --A far wiser man than either you or I, the Buddha, offered that mans' need for religion springs from fear and frustration. I find it hard to argue with that. I can see some truth in that statement, I do not defend religion. __________________________ __________________________ --Maybe just to me, but your 'humility' comment seems patronizing and culturally biased. Just my opinion, but true humility is the acceptance of not knowing (re spiritual conundrums). A basic Taoist tenet is that if you think you know THE answer, then you don't. The eternal Tao is unknowable. I don't know what is patronizing about my humility statement. Care to elaborate? Your description of humility is very good. It is nice to see someone who can explore the spiritual side of reality. ...
  17. But that doesn't mean all that much about the validity of Christ's message, does it? But it does mean something about the open minded approach these people employed to assemble truth regarding physical and spiritual reality. In light of that, their embracing God's message means a lot to anyone who still has an open mind to the Truth. ...
  18. I believe welth and high education standard make less religious people, but at once we have wars, nature catastrophes and economic downtimes it makes people back to their religions. If there is a god, he is a god for everybody, but I believe if so, there is many gods good and bad! I agree, as pride increases our perceived need for God decreases. And yes, there is nothing like a good personal disaster to reacquaint us with our humility and renew our ability to see the issues clearly. ...
  19. Do you deny a muslim or a jews teaching could be as right as an christian? Is Buddhism wrong teaching? (Devils work to mislead people on their way to heaven) Everyone has the right to follow the path of their choosing. For me those teachings, although interesting, offer no benefit. ...
  20. The lessons and events described in the Bible are there to point the way. So that a positive individual can learn the concepts and use them to find God. That is its only purpose and it does that very well. Problems arise when people try to use the Bible for things it was not designed for. Whether people can agree on all aspects of the Bible is unimportant. If you wish to find God, the Bible will lead you to Him. When Jesus returns, those who know Him will recognize Him. ...
  21. Another twist of government involvement is that they are now training Veterinarians to treat human patients in cases where the human health care system becomes overloaded or breaks down. Right now it is mainly centered around national disasters. I spent last weekend in a conference put on by Homeland Security outlining the new role Veterinarians will play. It will be interesting to see where this goes.
  22. I'd think the answer would be: ...Then, even if you are not married, you should still not do it. If it is wrong to transgress, then it is equally wrong to lead others to transgression, or even to act as an enabler for one who has already decided to transgress. In your example, it would be a matter of not being willing to be an enabler for other people who are tempted to compromise the sanctity of their own marriage. The moment you knowingly act as an active enabler for someone else's transgression, you become a participant in that transgression. Very Good!!!! ...
  23. My understanding is that the hypothesis asserts that there is a gene that up- and down-regulates production of specific neurochemicals, monamines iirc, that cause the brain to experience a sense of other-world-liness that is associated with spirituality across cultures, i.e., the gene isn't specific to one group or another. Are we thinking about the same thing? Or are you referring to some very recent work or different work? Your understanding of the "god gene" and mine probably come form the same scientific fact, but we possibly slant our interpretation of the fact in different ways. A recent article on the New Scientist Magazine web site states the facts more in depth. The title of the article was "Born Believers, How Your Brain Creates God". ...
  24. No it is you who is missing the point. FAR TO MANY people seem to beleive they can do as they wish ....fuck over their neighbors.. rob them... and do as they want all week long.. as long as they go confess those sins.. and show up ion their Sunday best to church on Sunday morning.. and when its time to die.. that final act of the Last Rights.. and they are good to go for the Pearly Gates. We are talking about two different things. As far as the people you are referring to Jesus said, " Many will say to Me on that day, Lord Lord did we not prophesy in Your name and in Your name cast out demons and in Your name perform many miracles? And I will declare to them I never knew you; depart from Me you who practice lawlessness. Matt 7:22 &23 ...
  25. How can the Christian god exist when “non-resistant non-belief “exists???????????? Ok, I assume you are using John Schellenberg description of not resisting God as the meaning of "non-resistant". I disagree with this assumption based on Rom 2: 12-16. God awareness is part of our genetic make-up. Genetic behaviorists have presented evidence of a "god gene" existing in our genetic code. For those who have not heard of God verbally, they can know God through the collection of genetic intelligence or instincts we all inherit. Also termed fixed action patterns. So "non-resistance" is wrong, which means passive "non-belief" is impossible. ...
