....And what I said is ...if the harness is fitted correctly then the position shown in the picture is not a problem and I agree with you ... a harness not fitted correctly and with a student in that position there is a chance that the TI is landing alone
-
From what I can see in the pictures, I reckon its fitted correctly

Hi Can instructors who use hand cam during tandem jumps maybe help out with the following questions .. How many jumps have you done with it and what problems have you come across using it What advice / guidance does your governing body offer on the subject ( if any ) and finally What level of expierence level do you think a TI should have before use Cheers Flipper
-
If the harness is fitted correctly this isnt a problem .... the Y harness stops the student / passenger from lifting there legs ...
-
***Can any of you 3, determine in a blink whether it's a left or right twist? Yes If this method is so perfect why dont' they teach it on first jump courses
-
Hey Format ... glad you made it through that jump You should remember that line twists are a malfunction ...and are more than a risk for just you ...all the time you spend with twists you are at risk of flying into someone else ..up the line of flight or landing off ... again more risk I have seen the vid where Brian 'eventually' gets it under control ... he has a heap of jumps ... years of expierence and IMO he just gets it together and no more on that jump ... this method of getting twists out is bullshit You should be more concerned with sorting the situation and reducing risk to you and others around you as quickly as possible ... If you cant control your canopy then get rid of it ... Later Flipper

Canopy transfers - Was: Fatality in Rockmart, GA
flipper replied to upndownshop's topic in Safety and Training
***It is still my opinion that attempting a canopy transfer with a square reserve is not the smartest thing going. Agree ... Two canopies out is a malfunction .. -
Get a container that meets your canopy needs ... then as Aggiedave sez get the manufacturer/Mrigger to adjust the harness for you I have a rig that was custom made and one that had the harness adjusted ... no difference in any way ... except the cost
-
Nope don't arch, easily have my legs as low as yours ... no problemo Prefer to have my legs low and in the air flow, to me I have more control this way
-
Keep your shit straight .. keep the twists out of your brakes ..

One peeve of mine is hearing someone say, in talking about their first tandem jump, "Gee, I could never have done that on my own." After I land with a Tandem the most common thing I get asked is '' how many Tandems do i have to do before i can jump on my own ?''

Why do some jumpers think it is okay to lean on others in the jump plane?

Do think a jump pilot has a reason to be angry when this happens?
flipper replied to peek's topic in Safety and Training
I found myself in the door with a very unsafe choice to make. Try and pull my student back into the plane or exit with an exposed drogue... Been there myself ... reckon you did the right thing Flipper -

Travelling To/From Moscow - Airline pops the reserve
flipper replied to frost's topic in General Skydiving Discussions
There is no way in hell I would ever check my rig. Why not ? ... Have done it dozens of times ... no problem -
Agree .... seen them used for years without incident ... Just coz they arent the latest and greatest dosnt mean they are not up to the job
-
Alti 2 would rock if ... they worked in the cold ... batteries lasted more than a month ... body didnt crack ... strap didnt fall apart ... software was glitch free ( too many problems to list )... buttons didnt need huge force to operate and yes I know ....send it back and they will fix it ... just got fed up with the eternal circle of... it goes fucked -send it back - get another one... etc etc Saved myself future hassle and got a Viso
-
good onheading performance ... soft openings ... in flight it is fairly similer to most other tandem canopies ... light toggle pressure and good power in the flare for landing ..
-
Agree the first one was no way an exp jumper ... kinda look at HD and SF with a tandem as unacceptible ... bit like hookin a tandem to land ... Its the student / passengers jump .. not the instructor ... and dont see why the instructor has the right to make the jump any more riskier than it already is ... and it also gives them a shit video The so called instructor on the SF jump should prob have his rating pulled

Nice one Bruno ....

Whats the differance between God and a Tandem Instructor...
flipper replied to Rover's topic in General Skydiving Discussions
We do what the customer wants ... if they want to learn ... we teach ...if they want a carnival ride ... then thats what they get I treat the tandem as an introduction to the sport ... my goal is to get them back on the ground in the same way they arrived at the DZ ... the next is for them to learn / have a good time I then do my best to get them to go the AFF / Raps route -
