Toyota recall for gas peddle getting stuck on the floor mats
flipper replied to CSpenceFLY's topic in The Bonfire
Toyota is now recalling to replace the gas pedals. Word is that it's 1/2" too long. This's not an isolated issue... there've been many recent Toyota design flaws. For instance, the Tundra's frame is rotting away from the shock/strut towers and spring mounts. Sorry to all you Toyota lovers. The simple truth is that for a lot less money, American built cars are just as good as the rest. Or, maybe I should say, just as bad?? Maybe all the cars should have a tag under the hood that says, "Built by Humans". There are a few things they can do ... remove the floor mat or shorten the pedal ... in this case they are doin both ...pedal is to the the intended design ... other parts in this area arnt ... cant really say much more ... cant comment on other areas that they are havin probs with -

Your wrong, this is nothing more than a floor mat size / shape / retension issue The APM is not an issue ... -
Price..availability..brand loyalty..opinion.. They all have a part to play ... PS - I have both

Did I make the right decision not to cut away?
flipper replied to midlifecrisis's topic in Safety and Training
Like yourself and Topdocker has stated / mentioned ... this sort of action is pretty much a last chance / resort and not in anyway a 'standard' responce to a problem with your main Thanks for the information and apologese for steering the thread a little off course Flipper PS ... In my opinion the OP did the right thing :) -
Did I make the right decision not to cut away?
flipper replied to midlifecrisis's topic in Safety and Training
Over the years I have seen all sorts of damaged canopies landed safely and without any problem for the jumpers. Here, we only get the anecdotal evidence, but not actual numbers, and in a time-compressed fashion. My story is from over seven years ago. Excellent point ! My worry in this tread is that the idea of a ' canopy transfer' becomes an option that might get used resulting in injury or worse - Performing a canopy transfer using square canopies is a malfuction called ' two out ' - which I think would be a dumb fuck move to induce Please if you know different please post -

Is that what you were taught on your FJC ? Has anybody here carried out a canopy transfer ? or seen one ? there's a lot of shit swung around here in this thread.. My understanding is that a 'canopy transfer' was an option when using a round reserve Never heard it taught as part of a FJC If you know different then please post Cheers F. -

I did about 400 on a 120VG @ 1.6, was a real nice canopy to fly / swoop once you got past the openings - openings tended to be a bit wild, hunting and twisting up - think I chopped it at least twice. ( I had this canopy from new, the current owner can nomally be seen wandering around the DZ looking for his freebag on a regular basis : ) I then did a pile of jumps on another 120VG and found this one to a real nice opening canopy, then another load of jumps on a 107 - again no probs Guess what I'm sayin is there are some good and bad ones out there, I reckon they are pretty good canopies : )

What do I want ... an answer to the question !!! .. thats why I asked If I wanted to know about swooping ... I would be asking this elsewhere Do I want someone to get hurt or killed ... of course I dont ... Now you either know the answer to the question I asked or you dont ... from your reply its obvious that you dont ... so stop being a prick I'll ask again ... has there been any incidents / occurances where as AAD has activated during a CRW jump ... facts please not opinion

Using my Tri 150 (WL 1.5) I have downplanes with average speeds of 50-57mph per my Altitrack. When I pitch out the door to do CRW it is usually when we do the downplane that the Altitrack finally thinks I have jumped... :) Side note: I jump without an AAD Still quite far away from the activation speed ! Is there any occurences of an AAD activating during a CRW jump ? ...

I think you have already made it clear that you are not very smart ... I hope you don't ... but more importantly I hope this includes everyone that has to be in the air with you
-
Just because its not what you want to hear dosnt make it not positive Getting / trying a 170 was a positive comment !

It's simple, he already bought a container so small he can barely fit his current 155 into it, so his first priority in looking for a canopy is that it has to fit into his rig. No, i'm not kidding. Thanks .. that explains it

Why not think about a 170 ... PD has the sabre2 150 at your exit weight as suitible for Intermeadiate jumpers http://performancedesigns.com/products.asp?product=sa

Rear riser landing with brakes stowed - good idea or bad idea?
flipper replied to mik's topic in Safety and Training
She totally did the right thing - No discussion I know of one expirenced jumper who was very badly injured landing on rears with both brakes stowed -
