YOU PUNK! "The restraining order says you're only allowed to touch me in freefall" =P
-
Just and uneducated guess, it could fall into trespass. The child is not following school rules, has been asked to leave, refuses to leave. "The restraining order says you're only allowed to touch me in freefall" =P
-
Yes if the child was holding still they could have lifted the desk and put her in the hall. A child struggling with them is another story. She wouldn't be removed from the desk, and I doubt she would just be compliant if they just moved her and the desk either. "The restraining order says you're only allowed to touch me in freefall" =P

I don't like this, by what does the cop and school so? So do they let this kid challenge their orders, ignore them, and remain in class distracting the other students? Is the officer supposed to turn around and leave after she won't get out of the desk on her own? "The restraining order says you're only allowed to touch me in freefall" =P

This is too bad. I have recommended their products to many new jumpers due to their previous customer service. I guess that has to stop. "The restraining order says you're only allowed to touch me in freefall" =P

Rate of decent for a cutaway main?
DougH replied to jaybwise's topic in General Skydiving Discussions
Highly variable. Sometimes they wad up and fall fast. Other times they stay partially inflated and mostly untangled and float off for what seems like days! "The restraining order says you're only allowed to touch me in freefall" =P -
That's a very good catch. Is it a catch? One hand per handle, duh right. You pull the cutaway, risers release and in this case the skyhook is going through its motions. Your right hand stays roughly in this spot because you arch through the deployment. You pull the reserve handle after the risers release, even though the skyhook or rsl has pulled the pin(pins). You might be quick draw mcgraw with the timing of the cutaway and then reserve pull. Again your hand would end up roughly in that location if you are arching through the reserve deployment and the camera snaps the still at the right time, or your grab the right frame. The assertion being made is that this guy kept the handicam in a filming position and didn't pull the reserve. You can't tell that from a single frame. "The restraining order says you're only allowed to touch me in freefall" =P
-
How do you know he hasn't pulled the reserve handle already in that shot? His hand would roughly be where it would be following a pulled reserve handle. "The restraining order says you're only allowed to touch me in freefall" =P

I struggled with being on and off until I switched to vaping. It isn't better than doing nothing, but it is certainly better than the 2000+ chemicals that make up cigarette smoke. "The restraining order says you're only allowed to touch me in freefall" =P

I was just going to share that link. I was listening to it last night, I thought it was balanced and well done piece. An interesting fact that was claimed is that the animals targeted with approved hunting were older males that are no longer breeding AND were so aggressive that they were killing younger breeding black rhino's. So this raised money for conservation, for game wardens, and anti-poaching units AND was potentially protecting other breeding pairs. This guy could have just put 350,000 in as a donation and not taken the animal, but he contributed more to conservation that the people on social media whose idea of animal conservation was to send hate messages, including wanting his children and wife to be raped and killed while he watched. This also happens with dropzones operating two smaller Cessna's, especially with AFF students mixed into the loads. "The restraining order says you're only allowed to touch me in freefall" =P

Never had a student head butt me during a jump. But a hard helmet is going to reduce the clearance between their head and my face! "The restraining order says you're only allowed to touch me in freefall" =P

IMHO this is a can of worms. There are strict legal requirements that need to be followed, regular recorded board meetings for example. There are IRS regulatory hurdles to jump through to qualify for 501(c)(3) status, also annual tax filings. Then you get to the bigger issue; this organization needs someone to solicit donations, manage the all of the compliance hurdles, and then evaluate cases for fund disbursement. One injured skydiver could drain the whole charity depending on the need. How do you determine who to give to and how much, and who not to? You can make your own tube stows. Just source silicone tubing. "The restraining order says you're only allowed to touch me in freefall" =P

Gilbert is already married. He was on a celebrity edition of wife swap. "The restraining order says you're only allowed to touch me in freefall" =P

I think this has the potential to be a good law. I am from CT, I don't live in a very gun friendly or self defense friendly state. I could shoot a person who confronted me in my own home in self defense and still find myself spending my net worth defending myself against an over zealous dickhead prosecutor. Yes the state has the burden of proof in my example, but I bear the financial burden of going to court to defend my innocence. This isn't cheap. "The restraining order says you're only allowed to touch me in freefall" =P

We could caption it for you. Nooooooooooooooooooooooo bear, I am a whinny bitch, why are you me treating me like a whinny bitch. Stop it bear, stop it bear. "The restraining order says you're only allowed to touch me in freefall" =P

] I was hoping that the wind was blowing that bear spray back to her, but apparently I got my hopes up for nothing. It may have been an overreaction, but 15 seconds in I was hoping that the bear would bite her in the throat out of pity for our ears! Instructor skill set -> list for resume
DougH replied to toronto_bill's topic in General Skydiving Discussions
What is the resume being used for? "The restraining order says you're only allowed to touch me in freefall" =P -
Yes! The hair mousse story totally explains why she has sticks and leaves in her new R25 Updo. "The restraining order says you're only allowed to touch me in freefall" =P

I plan on stopping in during the event. The one benefit of my broken ankle, I am not stuck doing tandems and wishing I could attend. If you see a guy with a weird peg leg device hobbling around say hello! "The restraining order says you're only allowed to touch me in freefall" =P

Can't wait. Grew up watching that show, my mom was a huge fan. I just started re-watching all of the episodes on Netflix!

10 dollars that it was another skydiver or a tandem waiting to jump, they probably didn't even consider the risk, so posting signs will solve the problem. "The restraining order says you're only allowed to touch me in freefall" =P

Go read some of my earlier posts. They can film the exit while holding on to their harness. FOV is obviously tighter but it works. "The restraining order says you're only allowed to touch me in freefall" =P

Contractor tax situtaion from skydiving
DougH replied to kawisixer01's topic in General Skydiving Discussions
Registering an S corp and filing a 1120S for him is going to be a lot of work, without a lot of benefit in my experience. Liability wise he is still the individual doing work jumps, so it doesn't shield you from liability. They sue the S-corp and they sue you the jumper. It can save some on self employment taxes, transferring some wages into s-corp earnings and distributions. But depending on your state rules on registering a corporation to do business, you may find that the minimum annual or biannual state fee outstrips the employment tax savings.
