  1. This should be good for you. Think of all the damaged stiffeners and grommets. Job security! "The restraining order says you're only allowed to touch me in freefall" =P
  2. Does anyone know how to insert the images? "The restraining order says you're only allowed to touch me in freefall" =P
  3. Nope this isn't a joke. I decided to share after I argued with some 50 jump wonder today on facebook who was sold on all the virtues of the product. http://nitrofly.biz/ "The restraining order says you're only allowed to touch me in freefall" =P
  4. I thought it was Greg... the shit storm occurred right after I reported his post in the AU tandem fatality post, and his post disappeared. "The restraining order says you're only allowed to touch me in freefall" =P
  5. Find the right used container. You can check measurements with the serial numbers if the owner is unsure. I bought one of my containers used with AAD, and an appropriate main and reserve for my experience at that time. I waited to find one that was close to the sizing I would have ordered custom. I still use it 11 years later, although it has had different canopies in it several times over. "The restraining order says you're only allowed to touch me in freefall" =P
  6. It is sad news, I have always held Sen. McCain in high regard and respect. He is a veteran, suffered as a pow, and I think he maintained a strong sense of civility and bipartisanship through most of his time serving the country in congress. After hearing him questioning Comey I feared he had some sort of neurological condition that he was dealing with. "The restraining order says you're only allowed to touch me in freefall" =P
  7. Just my opinion, but the ZPX canopies don't seem to wear as well or flare as well over the life of the canopy. I am an Aerodyne fan, but I am not a ZPX fan. "The restraining order says you're only allowed to touch me in freefall" =P
  8. Inflation is low, and the organization has made a strategic decision not to more regularly adjust for it. Last year they appeared to be managing just fine with the current membership fee. The 2% annual inflation through May must have pushed them right into the brink. It isn't unreasonable to expect for them to make a clear explanation of why an increase of fees are justified, and how that additional money will be used. Simply chalking it up to inflation is downright lazy. "The restraining order says you're only allowed to touch me in freefall" =P
  9. I am not going to look for the cite, but earlier this year I saw something about Toyota having solar panels in the roof to power the air movement thru the car. Toyota did not have it hooked into the charging system. I was reading something recently about having an induction system in our roadways to charge while driving. Very expensive but it gets people thinking about how to solve these problems. Jerry Baumchen My prius has a solar roof, it barely spins the fan while the car is off. Doesn't do much good, and it increased the weight of the roof. If I didn't buy it used I wouldn't have bought it. "The restraining order says you're only allowed to touch me in freefall" =P
  10. I doubt we will see this in the near to medium term future unless the price is artificially inflated. Increasing production in the US is making this scenario unlikely for now. "The restraining order says you're only allowed to touch me in freefall" =P
  11. Don't you think we are involved enough with private business interests ala Gear Manufacturers? See BSR for minimum opening altitudes, what about the class III medical! PIA already served that function for those company's, but USPA is increasingly pushing their agenda. We don't need to get involved with the corporate owned tunnel enterprise as well. This is a strong no from me. Focus on representing the sport and actual skydivers. "The restraining order says you're only allowed to touch me in freefall" =P
  12. I don't know how some of these people pull off many things. But hey, they vote, they drive, they have kids. "The restraining order says you're only allowed to touch me in freefall" =P
  13. Well done! "The restraining order says you're only allowed to touch me in freefall" =P
  14. How would you defend this in court? At least here in the US I am fairly confident that a ambulance chaser would bring this up as an example of gross neglect. They would point out that there are student AAD's available, and that the drop zone purposely used an incorrect piece of equipment that was intended for experienced jumpers. They would probably even bring in some equally skuzzy ex-jumper or DZO to act an expert witness, who will state that students should have student AAD's. Maybe less of an issue in Canada? 15. Interesting. I liked the Mamba and owned a few, but it was never a stellar canopy, just fun to fly. They never really got a following, and the resale value on them was terrible. I'll hang on to my gelvanor 104 that they made custom for me, never going to get your hands on one of those again. "The restraining order says you're only allowed to touch me in freefall" =P
  16. Another rave view for Sky Switches. Both the 2.5 adapter, and the switch for my A7II have been fantastic. Price, customer service, and speed of shipping all excellent. "The restraining order says you're only allowed to touch me in freefall" =P
  17. Yeah, he has some cosmic mojo issues. Is he kicking stray dogs between jumps??! "The restraining order says you're only allowed to touch me in freefall" =P
  18. I don't fuck around with those flex pins for this exact reason. If there is any cracks I can see or feel it gets a new one. That being said you can't see the whole cable during a gear check. I try to make sure I am periodically checking them throughout the day before the packers close, so I can get my hands on the whole flex pin every few jumps, in addition to the every jump gear check. What was the reserve issue, and how did the instructor like the Master 425? They work, but god damn, flying those things is like being on broadcast time delay. "The restraining order says you're only allowed to touch me in freefall" =P
  19. I have that same cage. Right now it is on a quick release plate, sitting on the porch that the helmet came with. I am thinking of buying one of the recessed Xshut mounts, and bolting the cage to that when I get a dedicate GoPro so it can stay in the mount instead of bouncing between the cage and my handicam glove. "The restraining order says you're only allowed to touch me in freefall" =P
  20. So where is the video? "The restraining order says you're only allowed to touch me in freefall" =P
  21. Equally productive! Bravo. I don't scream at people to Go, or get out. I have been at dropzones where the TI's start screaming go the second the green light goes on, and work their way up to a shrill GET THE FUCK OUT. It is pretty unprofessional from the student experience point of view. On the opposite end of the spectrum I have seen people mock up their exit in the door, for fuck sake be ready to jump, take the right exit delay, and go. We all need to work together, and both the TI's and the fun jumpers can either cooperate, or they can be jackasses. So yes, the group in the door chooses when to jump, and they shouldn't be pressured to jump when the spot is bad, there is traffic, or clouds; they also shouldn't dick around when the above doesn't apply. "The restraining order says you're only allowed to touch me in freefall" =P
  22. My math included the time on the way to altitude for them to rest their sore harnessing muscles. "The restraining order says you're only allowed to touch me in freefall" =P
  23. What is the price tag on this skydiving "college"??! "The restraining order says you're only allowed to touch me in freefall" =P
  24. Sure. They have to suck it up. They seem to get easier after more use. We have two of the new harnesses, and yes they require more umph to adjust, it isn't terrible. Tandem instructors should be burly men and women, they can't handle a little extra effort every 20-25 minutes? Second alternative, train someone on initial adjustments so the whiners have less adjustments to do. "The restraining order says you're only allowed to touch me in freefall" =P
  25. I don't know much about making statements or news reporting, but for written news can you require a copy proof before they print your statement? I feel like so many incidents and other skydiving reporting would be drastically more accurate and better, if we got a chance to read our quotes, before they fired up the presses or hit post on the final article. "The restraining order says you're only allowed to touch me in freefall" =P
