I get what you are trying to say, but read the manual. The AAD reads differently depending on your orientation. The pressure readings must be accurate, but translation of those pressure readings compared to your true AGL altitude varies based on body position. Cool idea. Not sure if I will manage to get it pulled off in time, but I like it! "The restraining order says you're only allowed to touch me in freefall" =P

I have had a few reserve landings on a smart 175 at a moderate loading, and the Smart 110 at a more aggressive loading both were relatively docile. That being said any reserve below a 150, or highly loaded is a compromise in safety, and is going to be more sensitive to harness input.. You would get busted up bad if you were unconscious and rode the 110 in with no flare. "The restraining order says you're only allowed to touch me in freefall" =P

What happened with the company/jumpers that used to make the Skylog log books. I liked the grey 300 pagers with two logs per page. They were spiral bound with plastic binding, and plastic covers. The actually had binding that didn't suck. I think I used to order them directly off a website, but I can't find them anywhere now. There are similar products now on Chutingstar and other websites, but the quality of the binding isn't half as good. Makes me realize how much better the old Skylogs were in comparison. With the BrandX my last one had a bunch of pages bound upside down towards the back of the book, the binding is open ended so it works its way off the pages, and they were all stuck together as well from the process of punching out the holes for the binding. I guess I should have bought a bunch of the originals a few years ago. Edit: I think this may have been Skydive Aerographics, Michael Truffer's company, which would explain why I can't get them any more. Sorry to disappoint you. If it is an embedded ad "box" that is rotation it may not happen on every site view. "The restraining order says you're only allowed to touch me in freefall" =P

I was NOT expecting a Wayfair advertisement to start blasting out of the DZ.com home page unexpectedly, and on a 10 second time delay. Unfortunately I had coffee in my hands, and my volume on max! Attached is an image of where on the homepage it was coming from! "The restraining order says you're only allowed to touch me in freefall" =P

This is one of the friendliest drop zones on the east coast. Everyone is friendly and welcoming. Everyone jumps with you. Bonfires and beers when the light is on. If you are a visitor don't have any hesitations, this place loves meeting new people.

No one gives a shit about this forum, it has zero impact on our reputation, we fuck that up just fine in real life. Every online forum, for every hobby and activity, that isn't moderated to be strictly on topic, has a similar group of characters yelling and screaming just like this. "The restraining order says you're only allowed to touch me in freefall" =P

Pre tandem commandments, and being a young and dumb tandem instructor, I work worked for a DZO who would sell 6k tandems with the hope of upsells. Invariably the people who kept the 6k jump were the worst students, who were "scarred to go higher", and body positions that resembled everything but an arch. I am glad those jumps are long gone! Slap Yeti on it and you can charge anything you want. Are you going to use that to keep your stacks of 20 dollar kindling dry? "The restraining order says you're only allowed to touch me in freefall" =P

That is a very sharp looking aircraft. If I win powerball I will be taking delivery of one, all pimped out. "The restraining order says you're only allowed to touch me in freefall" =P

If you quit jumping, are you still a "skydiver"?
DougH replied to Chowder's topic in General Skydiving Discussions
My ratio of TI jumps to fun jumps has sucked lately. I am not a skydiver, I am just a carnival ride cargo plane. "The restraining order says you're only allowed to touch me in freefall" =P -
The only ones I would recommend are Chucks. An off-brand with similar style and smooth sole would work too. You can get them at discount shoe stores for a pretty good price. "The restraining order says you're only allowed to touch me in freefall" =P

I like it! Add a open swing up door and a jump step, both will be nice subtle details. "The restraining order says you're only allowed to touch me in freefall" =P

For starters don't scorch or burn it!!! "The restraining order says you're only allowed to touch me in freefall" =P

Why should either shut up about it. There is a huge septic tank in both camps, of people in power abusing women and behaving poorly. Just because the other sides septic tank smells shitty doesn't make yours a cistern filled with mountain spring water. "The restraining order says you're only allowed to touch me in freefall" =P

I like to defer to math over some religious moral ground, if you follow the math it doesn't really matter if you have personal feelings that junkies are morally wrong beings that deserve to suffer the consequences of their actions. Needle exchange program cost < health costs resulting from dirty need use borne by the rest of society. Needle exchange wins, saves us all money. It is also the compassionate thing to do!! Same goes for housing the homeless. Cost of housing even if fully subsidized doesn't come close to the cost of people living on the streets interacting frequently with medical services with frequent ambulance transport and ER visits. These people can't comprehend what they are reading in the bible. I don't think it is the bibles fault, I think they are just really fucking stupid people. Great gear, great guys. Our DZ, Skydive Danielson is literally in PMI's backyard. We have landed tandems there when the wind shifted. Obviously being the local manufacturer they have a good foothold here. Almost all of our student gear is Glides, much of the new gear purchased from fun jumpers are Glides too. Everyone has been very happy with the gear and the service. "The restraining order says you're only allowed to touch me in freefall" =P

Longmont City Council will take up skydiving noise

I searched the forum because I wanted to know this. I'm really new to the sport and am faced with the "Beer Rules" which I'm a bit uncomfortable with. I don't drink, not because I have anything against it, but the DZ is 30kms from my house and i will NOT even have one drink and then drive home. So I shouldn't say I don't drink but I don't ever drink at the DZ after a day of skydiving. Of course I want to hang out and take part in the camaraderie but I don't ever drink any beer offered. I have bought 2 cases of beer for a couple of occasions but I'm a bit uncomfortable with it. So I was thinking about bringing in something else (soda, or cookies, or something else...?)but didn't know if it would be weird or offensive. I still feel like the new kid on the block and have trouble fitting in anyway... so it's like I feel pressured to buy beer that I don't know much about and don't even drink myself. Would it be weird to bring in something other than beer? Will it be looked down on? Sure you can bring things other than beer. Some pizzas in the middle of a day are a great substitution. Cookies, unspecial brownies , water, drinks. If the DZ has a freezer a box of ice-cream treats are great too. I buy beer because I drink it, and frankly buying a case of beer is way easier for coordinating something else. "The restraining order says you're only allowed to touch me in freefall" =P

Eh, I think the two responses are a bit dramatic. Plenty of people go through the coach courses and never end up regularly coaching students. Their course dollars spend just as well as the next guy. To a certain extent course directors need bodies to fill courses and make it worthwhile. Even if you don't use the coach rating you are going to learn a lot going through the course. Having to teach something is a great way to identify gaps in your own base of knowledge. You don't need to teach students to have the benefit your overall skydiving. Student rig left side instructor handle.
DougH replied to tharshman's topic in Skydivers with Disabilities
Normally no, depending on the design. Many have a piano hinge around the whole boc, and the instructor deployment involves pulling an handle connected to the cutaway cable that hold the piano hinge together. This either opens the boc up, or in some cases disconnects the whole boc from the rig, pilot chute and all. It isn't designed for regular deployments.
