Fixed it fer ya, there, good buddy! Amer'ca will get great again, jes' ya wait n' see. You betcha! Don'tcha jes love that Joe the Plumber, Joe SixPack, and Joe Biden are speaking? Highest voter turnout in a long time, good ole' buddy. Gotta love democr'cy. Bush should be terribly embarrassed at what he cost the 'Pubs this time around. He'll hate himself every day he's on the board of the bin Laden family oil company, enjoying his ill-gotten gains on a beach, boat, and boardroom as he and his buddies have collectively robbed America of dignity and integrity around the world.

Hey, we got it before the flight...that's all that matters. Besides, I saw you at Nationals. Neither one of us was doing anything, right? But you owe me a shot of Oban.

Remster has it right. So...either do a number of jumps with a coach, or head to a tunnel where they can teach you this within a few minutes.

if you ask Parachutist really nicely, he might tell you about it (although he can't tell you the name of the product, or when it will be released).

Not where I live. If less than 33% of the district turns out to vote, the district votes are not counted. I live in an area where we don't get polls, we only are allotted mail-in. Easy as hell, yet for some reason, our district struggles to make the 33% cut. This year, looks like we will count. Who knows...there is a snowball's chance in hell my presidential vote will actually count this year, as all 5 of Utah's electoral votes will go to McCain unless Obama can take the pop vote this time around. I'm with you, Jerry. I've always voted since age 18. Therefore, I earned the right to bitch and whine.

No fooling. Check out this story. Can't believe people would act this way towards children over an adult-determined election. America more divided. That's what'll likely happen after this election, regardless of outcome.

Still not seeing it either. Given that we're leaving for Elsinore tomorrow, really hoping to see before we leave so that it can be studied during the flight down, and during down-time in Elsinore. Elsinore doesn't have the best web-connection speed.

I'm considering doing a live webinar as an experiment with skydive photographers, wondering if there is enough interest to put it together. We have a live webcasting system that we can set up for multiple viewers. It would be (most likely) in Windows Media format, simply because its easiest. If by chance it did carry a cost, it would do so to pay for the bandwidth involved, as it could potentially be expensive. We'd take questions via an instant messaging system. At this point, no lecturers are lined up, not topical outlines created, no dates/times determined. I'm shooting from the hip here, hoping for community development to drive any agenda. I'm interested in your comments and input.

Kwik is fairly well known, they buy ads in small magazines. Never used em', but see their name a lot. I just use Sony. The thing with the HC3 is (as you've found) it's more or less disposable.

No it's not, but it didn't stop Flock U from doing it Anyone know who's behind this site? To clarify...Flock University hired a guy to build a website, and he copy/pasted from one page on your website. The moment Flock U was informed the content was there, it was immediately removed, apologies made, and the web person flogged to within an inch of their life (not a skydiver, so legs were broken and fingers maimed) He is also no longer building pages for Flock U. Not aimed at anyone in particular, just the general skydive mentality... A comical aspect of this is that some of the people that get their shorts in a knot over illegal use of their content on a website are the same guys that won't bat an eyelash at using copyrighted music in their YouTube vids or their wingsuit DVDs. Does this fit?

it's not a significant factor in the fundraising. Not unless the LDS is in bed with insurance. LSD Church Corporation of the First Presidency owns Beneficial Life Insurance in addition to five different broadcast networks in California. Not only do they have eclesiastical interests, they have financial interests and the means by which to get their opinion heard.

Copyrighted Music – Staying Ethical, Honest and Legal
DSE replied to AFFI's topic in Photography and Video
Sweet! I'd love to hear some of your work. Post t somewhere? -
You know the rules of skydiving and your spouse, right? First she hates skydiving. Soon, she hates your skydiving friends. Finally, she hates you and all your skydiving friends And divorces you for a skydiving friend that quit skydiving. Skydiving can empty your bank account and emotional life faster than you can possibily fill it up by jumping. But some of us try anyway. I think I'm starting to lost the race.

Really, really excited to see the smile on your face, Fozz. That is a great lookin' suit, and it's great that it fits you!! Very much looking forward to more jumps with you. It's been a tough October for you, but that only means November will shine just a little brighter. See you soon, my friend!

And then there's this. That was a cheap shot, Professor.

Jump it a few times, watch it explode. seriously. The HDD system needs air pressure in order to function correctly. Altitudes higher than 9m/10k feet will blow it up sooner or later/most likely sooner. There is a lot of discussion about HDD cams in the Photo forum.

whats a good freefall time for a beginner?
DSE replied to skittles_of_SDC's topic in Wing Suit Flying
Perhaps this is why some have privately given you your own "Bounce Bingo" number. Me...I'm not that cruel. I'd just call it a crater looking for a coordinate. Then again...maybe you have mad skillz. The incidents forum is *filled* with mad skillz guys. I honestly hope you're never one of them. Maybe...you're just lucky. -
it's hosted in utah, which is what led someone to mistakenly think it was my creation.

Of course people have the "lookey-loo" "rubber-necker" mentality...but this doesn't belong in a video given out to someone. Either cut it on the editing room floor, or angle your shot so the incident isn't in the background. I don't see rules from skydiving organizations, but as a camera op for national events, we're often under contract to *not* show emergency services in the background. They don't want the liability to become unmanageable. Imagine 4 cameras all catching the same incident in the background, that's 400% more effort to contain, explain.

Wingsuitworld.com is a very cool website, looks like it's using Joomla as the back end so it's very sweet, lightweight. But...in perusing the site, I see a lot of content taken from other sites, including my writings for Flock University and Jarno Cordia's writings for FlyLikeBrick.com Anyone know anything about it? Cool site, nice layout, but using copywritten material without permission....not so cool or nice. both Jarno and myself have asked via email to have content removed, and to their credit, it has been removed in the past hour or so.

For tandems, we shoot either HD or SD, always widescreen. Videos are edited/burned in Sony Vegas Pro, DVD Architect Pro, and we have a slight advantage over other DZ's with an inexpensive tool we'll soon announce to the world. But....That tool only shaves about 1-2 mins off the template process. The *new* version of the tool (TBA) will shave almost all the time off the editing process. For tandem DZ's...it's da' bomb.

whats a good freefall time for a beginner?
DSE replied to skittles_of_SDC's topic in Wing Suit Flying
Not having seen you fly...I'll use my input to say that the person I took is no more, no less ready than you. He has the same number of jumps in approximately the same time frame. He is very current, very capable, and it was his birthday. Can't at all blame you for being excited for wanting to fly a wingsuit. I was the same about cameras. However, the BSR's are what they are, because of skydivers who have gone before most of us. 200 jumps sure seems like a lot of jumps until you've got double that number. When you hit 1000, it seems like nothing. I'm sure to the 10K guys out there, it seems like you're still in AFF as far as wingsuits go. I can think of more than one skydiver with more than 5K skydives that won't regard anyone with lesser numbers as having any value or skill...that's nuts and more than one of them are skygods of the worst kind. But...200 is the number recommended by manufacturers and USPA. Since I hold USPA ratings, at some level it's a responsiblility to observe that BSR. I've violated it once. I am bothered that I did so. And won't repeat that error. He was my second student, and I was overly excited. IMO, it was my responsibility to keep him inside the BSR's, not his to keep me observant. IMV, this entire discussion isn't about you. It's about instructors, and about those people that are itching to wear nylon, but can't because they haven't reached the numbers. 200 doesn't mean you're ready to go, it merely means you've reached a threshold when you can be considered to go. Why have a BSR if folks are willing to violate it, and more importantly, when the USPA does get off their collective ass and create a WSI rating (and it is absolutely coming, you better believe it), why shouldn't they just say "500 jumps" period? Obviously, the 200 jumps in 19 months with coach isn't working out the way it was expected to. -
including capture About 60-70 seconds per jump changing text on credits About 10-15 seconds(worst case) music setup No set up time, as it's part of several templates already built rendering Dual core 2.12GHz machine, about 2.5 mins burning Same machine, about 4 mins To qualify a few of the answers.... The primary videographers at our DZ use MSPD cams, so it's card-transfer, no capture. We can Xfer up to four cards at once either to local or network drives. Files go on the timeline in order as they're shot. Music is already roughly timed, as length of vids doesn't vary much. We only have a few short tweaks here/there to do, so figure about 90 seconds for editing the entire thing. Soon, we'll be faster. Shortly, we'll make our bullet-proof, top-secret tool available to the skydiving public. Final actual skydive videos are between 5-7 mins. We duplicate the exit shot and deployment shot, slowing both duplications to 40% of original speed. We also incorporate flash transitions, personalized titles, "thank you" at end, plus birthday, anniversary, or other special occasion overlays when merited. Burning takes longest, primarily because we include a separate credits page for each videographer, and a 9 minute "So you liked your skydive, this is AFF" video with it. If those came off...it would tremendously speed burning. We can burn up to four DVDs at once on two systems, both networked to same HDDs. We also could go faster if we pulled the Blu-ray burners out and put 24X burners in all four slots. if you're a serious tandem operation...IMO, this is the only way to go if you want students walking out the door w/DVD in hand.
