wildfan75 replied to wildfan75's topic in Events & Places to Jump
The Todd patches have arrived and will be available at P-Toss. We still need some more players for the TIC tourney on Friday night. Email or PM me if you're in. Club members who still owe beer for your firsts over the summer...the time to pay up is now! Three days to go... -
Yep..Slipstream is rhemwa's team. Way to go guys! Good to see some medals coming home with MN/WI skydivers!! Now we just need to get Team Flew-ID on board during the freestyle event. And Bill...good luck to you and the rest of "Slip and Fall" in 8 way. I'll be checking scores every 20 minutes at work like I did today and yesterday.

Go Slipstream and Team Flew-Id!!!! You guys are missing P-Toss so you better bring home some hardware!

Hmmm...I don't know. How about SKYDIVE??? Skydive Wissota in Chippewa Falls, WI is open all year 'round. If its warm enough for the planes to start (hehe...we plug them in at night), its warm enough to skydive. Come join us!

Todd often said that if he won the lottery he'd get breast implants because he loved boobs so much, and then he'd have a set of his own and could touch them anytime he wanted. I just got a return email from the organ and tissue donation people. They were able to harvest some of Todd's skin. The email goes on to say that with technolocial advances, human skin donations are not the prefered therapy for burn victims. Instead, skin is now used for breast reconstruction following mastectomies. Todd's going to get his boobs after!! Who knew someone could laugh and cry so hard at the same time as I am right now. Us girls at the dz were going to make shirts that said "Todd thinks my boobs look nice today"...a comment that many of us heard quite often. Maybe the shirt should now read "Todd's boobs look like today".

Hmmmm...Wildfan75 votes for the Wild of course.

Profile addition for those who've passed away
wildfan75 replied to cpoxon's topic in Suggestions and Feedback
My view on this subject has changed. I don't think anything should be done. It should be left just they way they left it. If the family wishes it changed, I'm sure that Sangiro and the other mods would have no problem changing it. But if the family wants it to stay they way their loved one left it, so be it. -
My fiancee died 69 days ago. Not only did I lose my best friend and love of my life, but also lost my entire "future". Chock one up for "bad in '08".

Do DZ Liability Waivers Hurt the Sport?
wildfan75 replied to GLIDEANGLE's topic in General Skydiving Discussions
My guess is that we'd have about four dz in the US, and the topic of conversation among the jumpers would be "You wouldn't believe the day in court I had today!" or "So I was in the middle of doing this surgery and..." Instructors would quit due to the risk of "losing it all". DZO's would close the doors to the risk of "losing it all". There is no amount of safety of gear, airplanes, training that can prevent the "one idiot" from closing the doors of a dz. On the other hand, the selective process of telling someone "Sorry, skydiving is no for you" increases. I have the same "last will and testament" thing as FutureDivot, and it was drafted and certified when I had about 12 jumps. You can keep all of the people safe some of the time. And you can keep some of the people safe all of the time. But you can't keep all of the people safe all of the time. Humans error. And that's just life. -

wildfan75 replied to wildfan75's topic in Events & Places to Jump
We've gotten some more great giveaways including: *30% off any Aerodyne product *30% off any Micron or M-Series container (Thanks Bigway and Hausse!!!) Also, I should have the "Todd Patches" by P-Toss. See attached for what they will look like. For as much as I'd like to give these away, they will be sold at $2/each to cover the cost. Dinner Saturday night will be a turkey dinner with stuffing, mashed potatoes and gravy (same as last year). Only a week and a half away!!!! -
Do DZ Liability Waivers Hurt the Sport?
wildfan75 replied to GLIDEANGLE's topic in General Skydiving Discussions
I'd rather have someone be scared away because of the liability waiver than have my dz close over some frivolous lawsuit for some guy/girl can't grasp the concept of "flare" and we're found liable because we should have known that he/she had poor upper body strength. -
My fiancee had 4500 skydives when he first "flew" into the tunnel. He did two hours in three days and couldn't believe how much he learned, and you could see how much faster and accurate of a free faller he was. I had maybe 200 jumps when I did 20 minutes in the tunnel. I still kick my own ass for not getting more. I really wished I wouldn't have listed to everyone telling me that "You should only do 20-30 minutes your first time in the tunnel. Anymore is overload." Damn them!! I can't fathum how much I would have learned in an hour or two based on what I learned in those 20 minutes. I think the tunnel to skydivers is like dangling meth in front of a crack addict. Its all very expensive!

Thank you, April!! That is great picture of Todd. You'll have to burn some pictures on a disc from that weekend and send it to me. You were going crazy with your camera and I'm sure there are a boat load of good ones of the Wissota CReW! Todd was so excited about the CRW camp weekend. He was so excited for me to start dabbling in CRW. It pains me to say that other than one "attempted" CRW jump, Todd and I never built the awesome two stack into a downplane that we always talked about. Our one attempted CRW jump pretty much consisted of him yelling "Sashay! Sashay! Sashay!" at me for 10,000' while I tried to keep his old Fury flying straight. Apparently the some of the lines that were finger trapped together were out of trim. The rule about Todd's Fury was only Todd could jump Todd's Fury. Imagine my surprise as I walked out to the plane on that jump and asked him, "What am I jumping?" and his response was, "My Fury". The old Fury got jumped about 500 times more than it should have. After Mary rode a stack almost to the ground and not aiming Todd directly into the peas when she released him, Todd decided it was time to retire the Fury. It had absolutely no flare left in it and it was either peas or knees. About three weeks before Todd passed away, we had a proper bonfire ceremony and burned it. I'm glad he got to do and was there for that. Two months down, the rest of my life to go...

Are these pictures of Joe in the tunnel???? If they are, they should be saved as Joe isn't going to "do" the tunnel anymore. Joe--How's the shoulder? Get through the 100 ways okay?

Unfortunately the image of you in your wingsuit, with matching shorts, t-shirt, rig, socks and tennis shoes is something that sticks in the brain. No picture needed. Hopefully we'll see you for the film festival on Saturday night...just need to talk someone into being a DD to drive to Baldwin and back.

I was just in Perris for the P3 Big Way Camp and on the advice of two frequent Perris visitors from my dz, I flew into SAN. If you're going with or can organizing with other jumpers flying into LAX, fly into LAX as they have shuttles going "that way". I flew into SAN, rented a car from Fox Rent A Car for $85, and spent $12 in gas going from SAN to Perris and back. Traffic was non-issue (flew into SAN at 7:45pm on a Wed and flew back from SAN at 2:20pm on a Monday). I was bummed to find out that the ride back was so smooth, or I would have stuck around Perris or stopped at Elsinore for "one last jump" before heading back to the airport. Bob and Mary weren't lying when they said traffic is predictable in SAN, were as LAX is not. Bring tank tops....California is friggin' HOT!!!

"It will get better over time." Guess what people? It doesn't. One day more is just another day longer that I didn't get to hug him or look into his eyes, another day longer that I didn't get to talk to him or hear him laugh. What's the stupid things you've heard people say?
