Super Dave or Stupid Dave??
wildfan75 replied to skyjumpenfool's topic in General Skydiving Discussions
He wasn't banned from just his home dz for that little stunt. -
How many people use their dz.com email address? Could you send a blanket email and if its not replied to, then the email portion gets disabled? Then instead of 3mb x all the users, it would be MOREmb x those that use it. Anyway to disable my dz.com email and give my 3mb to BMFin? No offense, but I just don't use it, and if it would hlep BMFin...

Looks like the P/C is located in the leg strap. And the lines are daisy chained...skydiver-ish. I would agree that I think its an old timer cleaning out the closet. I'd ask to find out what the main and reserve are. Container might still be functional for belly flying, but if you send it in to have it converted to BOC, check to see what it would cost to do the free fly mods, if that's you're fancy.

Triple Zero's for me. But I did hook up a new main for a jumper, fix a twist in the lines for another, sanded the sides, finished painting, sealed and put on Todd's memorial locker door, made a cover for my special bar stool at the dz, worked on the 2008 student report, updated the club roster, tried to work on the financial report, made sure the grill starts for New Year's Eve, weather stripped the west clubhouse doors and made a little more room in the beer fridge for the beer that doesn't fit.

I need tips for proper Factory Diver helmet fit.
wildfan75 replied to funfall's topic in Gear and Rigging
General fit should be snug. Not so snug that you feel like you're beating your head agaisn't the wall the moment you put it on, but snug enough that when someone kicks you, or takes you out a little in freefall that it comes dislodged. As for where the mouth thing should line up... I jump in WI were it can get a little cold in the winter so the following advice is from my own experience. You want the mouth piece to be close enough to your mouth so that when you sort of pucker and stick out your lips, they at least touch the mouth hole. This is especially important if you're jumping somewhere were it gets cold in winter. I always make sure to breath in through my nose (taking the warm air caught in my helmet and having cold air sucked in) and out through my mouth (getting rid of the warm air). This helps to keep the air temps inside and outside more close to preventing the fogging that occurs when you have hot air and cold air mix. You could also ask any doctors that you know if they can get you one of the plastic butt plug things they use during colonoscopies (maybe ask for a new one). They fit perfecting inside the Sky System hold and help prevent the air you breath out from going through the foam, but instead out through the mouth hole. Other things to keep in mind/do to help prevent fogging in winter: * Never ride to altitude with the helmet propt on your head. You're just filling your helmet with the bad warm air that will cause fogging when you exit. * Don't talk with your helmet on. The bad warm air will escape into the helmet, again, which may cause fogging. It takes me all summer to remember to shout the count, and all winter to get back in the habit of not shouting the count. Make sure you do the in through the nose, out through the mouth all the way to the ground (and especially under canopy). Hope that helps some. Sky Systems should be able to give you great info. If you get something from them, please post it here so if the question comes up again, since everybody uses the search function here before they post it will save them time. -
I think I'm a day late but HAPPY BIRTHDAY TARA!!!!!!! See you in May!

Perris Valley Tandem Bag Lock?

I was just joking around. Maybe I should have added more laughing faces after it. -
Perris Valley Tandem Bag Lock?
wildfan75 replied to cjsitfly's topic in General Skydiving Discussions
Its called droge and typically happens with tandems in freefall. On a serious note, good to hear everyone was okay! -
See attachments. Check out those that have "S" listed. Or if you're close to another state, you could check for the same info by clicking on "Dropzone" on the tool bar above between "Safety" and "Gear". Good luck! Have fun! Be safe!

I've got about 20 jumps on a Sabre2 and about 100 jumps on my current canopy, a Sabre. These are my opinions and impressions with the two canopies: The Sabre2 has a steeper glide path than the Sabre. It was one of the reasons I didn't like the Sabre2. The Sabre2 has slow openings compared to my Sabre. Again, one of the reasons I didn't like the Sabre2. Some call the Sabre2 opening some of the sweetest you can get. I don't like the long snivels. When I toss I want to know in a relatively short amount of time that my canopy's going to open and sliders going to come down. That being said, when I got my Sabre this spring (which only had about 30 jumps on it!!) it was a little too brisk. I put a pocket on the slider and have had great openings. Actually, they are starting to get a little on the slow side (I chalk it off to some nice desert sand on a trip to Perris). I love my Sabre almost as much as I loved my Silhouettes, and boy...did I LOVE my Silhouettes!

Apparently I am not a professional then. At the end of this don't ask me why if it was so hot that I felt the need to bake something in the oven! It was a hot summer day and I was just wearing a sports bra (and shorts for you dirty minders!) around the apartment. I went to take the pan out of the oven and put it on top of the stove. I didn't quite get the pan high enough and jammed the right-out-of-the-oven pan into my bare stomach. It blistered immediately. Of course I was in college and didn't have any first aid things around, so I had to drive to the only thing open at time of night, which was 24 hour grocery store. I play the "blonde card" for it all!

Airport security and carryon parachutes....ugh....
wildfan75 replied to Chris-Ottawa's topic in General Skydiving Discussions
Not that this would help international travel, but when I went through MSP to SAN, I got stopped and when the supervisor came over and started flipping through the TSA manual thingy, I asked if it would help if I gave her the section numbers that dealt with parachutes (its on here or a link from here somewhere). She said yes and I rattled off the numbers and TSA manual volume and she closed the book and thanked me for my time. Hope that tip helps someone, it helped me. -
I just checked our weather here in MN. It's -5F with a real feel temp of -25F. Let's just make sure we all keep our tongues away from metal poles!

In Wisconsin.

:3:1 Beer owed for the first time I fell off the step. Note to jumpers, when jumping in "slushy" weather, airplane steps can be slippery. Be careful if you don't want your stomach to look like the attached picture. It looks worse that it feels though.

The first jumpable Saturday or Sunday in Chippewa Falls, WI. Just needs to be above 10-15F so the planes start and clouds need to be above 2000'...oops, I mean above 2500'.

Thanks Gag. The only thing that would have made that package better was if I could have seen the look on your face when you got it. I can't believe its been 1/3 of a year already. When I think of how long its been since I got the "I'm sorry.." line from the doctor, it seems like yesterday. And when I think about how long its been since I last talked to Todd or saw him, it seems like ages ago. Today we got our first measurable snow fall on a work day. Last December when the first one came, it took me 2 hours to drive the 15 miles from work to home. I sat and talked to Todd the entire way home that night. Needless to say, I shed a few tears on the not quite as long commute home tonight as I kept on wanting to grab the phone and just call him. This weekend I spent about 14 hours going through Todd's old DV tapes to burn off all the video footage of Skyler and Alex on DVD's for Erika. I fast forwarded through most of the skydiving footage (which seemed just wrong), but there was plenty of footage that I stopped, rewinded and watched, including some interesting line twist situations, a few "off landings" (which would you choose, clothes line or chicken fence??), a few naked jumps (including one of Gag and Todd, naked, holding hands and exiting...BRAIN FLOSS!), and tons of ass grabs. I'm only about 1/4 of the way through the DV tapes and I'm sure that I'll find plenty more to laugh about, and I look forward to watching them without fast forwarding some day. I really enjoyed watching the Sky and Alex footage. I see bits and pieces of Todd in them. From Skyler and her fearless approach at carnival rides and chicken chasing to Alex and his "oh, shiny things!" attitude (I only got through the footage of 2003 when Alex was one and younger). I hope to one day be able to tell them both how proud he was of them, and how he wished to be able to give them the world. Todd--I'm still kickin'! Miss you tons and I upheld our Thanksgiving tradition! Love you and remember, snow during the week, blues over the weekends!

Think of the process in terms of a vagina. Keep it tight. Keep it under control. Use all your limbs. You might never know what part of the body does the trick. And the more you do it, the easier it gets. Good luck.

Skydive Wissota Saturday after Thanksgiving??
wildfan75 replied to skyjumpenfool's topic in Events & Places to Jump
April!!!! It would be AWESOME if you stopped by!!!! The beer fridge is fully stocked, and there's about four cases sitting on the floor waiting for "their turn" in the fridge! (What more do I need to do to entice you to stop by????) -

Lost my DVDs in the airport...who should I call?
wildfan75 replied to WatchYourStep's topic in The Bonfire
Mmm...can't help you with lost and found info, but what movies were they? If I have any duplicates I'll send you a copy. -
One could always make a copy of their A card and keep it in a safe place, which is what I recommend to all my newly A licensed folk. And before someone says something about the USPA needing an original...you can fax in your application, how are they going to tell if you fax in an original or a copy?
-
A USPA membership plus a completed, stamped and signed A license card is also a valid A license. You don't have to send in the $20, but you do need to spend the $51 on a membership.

I prefer something in between. A bad boy that treats me great. I need a guy with a little bit of bad in him...gives me permission to be a little bad myself. But I need to be able to bring him home to meet the family and have my dad approve, pack my rig at night after a long day, sing "Grandma's Feather Bed" at the top of his lungs with me at the bar and surprise me every once in a while. Damn...I miss him!

New guy here - Almost ready for my 1st Jump
wildfan75 replied to Pokerstar's topic in Introductions and Greets
We have regular jumpers at Wissota that come from Wausau, Madison, Chip, the Twin Cities, St. Cloud, etc. If we "get together", its at Wissota. The beer fridge is always fully stocked! Sounds like there's going to be quite a few people out next weekend.
