  1. Must be their new as Scarlett just emailed it to me on 1/19/09 at my request. Editted: Now I'm confused. The chart shows that your rig was sized for a 176 reserve and a 170 main. Which you had in there originally. How has the chart changed when its the same???
  2. Here's their sizing chart: W1 main- sub 100 reserve-106 W2 main- 107-120 reserve-106 W3 main- 120-135 reserve-106 W4 main-sub 100 reserve-113-126 W5 main-120-135 reserve-113-126 W6 main- 135-150 reserve 113-126 W8 main-135-150 reserve 143 W9 main- 150-170 reserve 143 W10 main-150 reserve-160 W11 main-170 reserve-160 W12-1 main 150 loose 170 reserve-160 W12-2 main 170 loose 190 reserve 160 W12-3 main 190loose 210 reserve-160 W13 main 170 reserve 176 W14 main 190 reserve 176 W21 main 190 reserve 193 W22 main 210 reserve 193 W24 main 210 reserve 218 W25main 230 reserve 218 W26 main 240-260 reserve 218 I have a W8. There is no way that I would get a 170 in there, a 150 is tight, a 135 will be perfect and I can imagine that I'll be able to do a 120 if I ever go that low.
  3. Zero's all around for me (Damn cold weather!!), but I did make the attached new locker door for a couple of guys at my dz. I am not an artist in anyway but I am damn proud of the canopies!! And the big blue splotch is the outline of Lake Wissota.
  4. My instructors always taught me, and I always teach my students to not wear an altimeter on your right hand. The less that can interfer with your deployment sequence, the better. In the event of a bad PC throw, an altimeter could make a less than ideal situation very bad. Don't mean to hijack the thread, but any imput from other instructors?
  5. Hopefully I'll be doing better after a helicopter jump tomorrow. The forecasted high is 0F, so it will be a little chilly on the ride to altitude with no doors.
  6. 60 above zero: Floridians turn on the heat. Minnesotans plant gardens. 50 above zero: Californians shiver uncontrollably. People are sunbathing in Duluth .. 40 above zero: Import cars won't start. Minnesotans drive with the sunroof open. 32 above zero: Distilled water freezes. The water in Bemidji gets thicker. 20 above zero: New Americans don long johns, parkas and wool hats & mittens. Minnesotans throw on a flannel shirt. 15 above zero: New York landlords finally turn on the heat. People in Minnesota have one last cookout before it gets cold. Zero: People in Miami all die. Minnesotans close the windows. 10 below zero: Californians fly away to Mexico . Minnesotans dig their winter coats out of storage. 25 below zero: Hollywood disintegrates. Girl Scouts in Minnesota still selling cookies door to door. 40 below zero: Washington , D.C. finally runs out of hot air. People in Minnesota let their dogs sleep indoors. 100 below zero: Santa Claus abandons the North Pole. Minnesotans get upset because the Mini-Van won't start. 460 below zero: ALL atomic motion stops (absolute zero on the Kelvin scale). People in Minnesota can be heard to say, "Cold ''nuff fer ya?" 500 below zero: Hell freezes over. Minnesota public schools open 2 hours late.
  7. Yes. They are giving the penis' a chance to have their name on the CSR before the girls take over again in September.
  8. Tested to see if my brother's newly sharpened Swiss army knife was sharp...with my thumb. Jumped off a diving board and with the intent of grabbing the side of the pool. Chin + Concrete = Stitches (and this was the day after I had stitches taken out of my hand). Luckily I didn't have my tongue between my teeth. And like every kid from MN, ripping my tongue off a metal pole in the middle of winter (not sure what is the stupid part: putting my tongue on it in the first place, or ripping it off).
  9. What's your definition of late December? I signed up online on 12/18/08 and the money was withdrawn from my account on 12/22/08. So I wouldn't say that they haven't been processed.
  10. Since Barack is just as much white as he is black, hopefully he too will embrace what is right.
  11. Damn...I just started my subscription the end of December and got one issue. Hopefully this was a last minute decision. If it wasn't and they still took my money...
  12. It's currently -24F in Plymouth, MN. Good news is that the temp with the wind chill is also -24F. Gotta love the black ice on the roads! For those in warm weather states that don't know what black ice is, it is the layer of ice that forms on the roads from the car exhaust freezing. Its hard to see because it matches the roads, and we're far beyond the temp at which throwing some salt down will work to melt it.
  13. I just checked TWC. Duluth is only at -2F with a real feel of -22F. It is colder in the Cities than in Duluth. WTF????
  14. How is it colder in the Cities than in Duluth?? I just checked and we're at -18 and with the wind chill -36F. I want to head north to the nice, warm temps. And to think five days ago I was jumping out of planes thinking 15F was cold! 30F would be total reason to dig out the shorts!!
  15. You might as well have just named this "The Jealousy Thread". I'd love to go see Machu Picchu!
  16. I should go do the glass of water trick, video it and post it. Its so cold outside that if I took a glass of water, it will freeze and *poof* fall like snow before it touches the ground. Or I could not go outside and just post a YouTube video of it... http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ClRpaDHk8Sw
  17. You should come up and do the Polar Plunge. They cut a hole in the ice, you jump in, get out and then spend the next 12 hours trying to figure out how to get warm again. I jumped into Lake Wissota in Chippewa Falls, WI on 1/1/08. Skydive Wissota cancelled their demo into the event because it was too cold. I raised like $100 for Big Brothers/Big Sisters to get to jump into the lake. Totally worth it but I wish that I would have raised more money for them.
  18. With my frickin' hot flashes, that would be lovely right now. Good news is that that UV index is 0. Feel free to go outside naked with absolutely no sunscreen. You'll be fine!
  19. Someone make me feel lucky to the current temp is {see attached}. And someone tell me that I'm not that crazy because I don't think it feels that cold.
  20. What's a new reserve ripcord cost? What's your life worth? If you're questioning it, replace it. If you're okay with it, do whatever. Will it function properly? Probably. Are you okay with probably? If so, don't replace it. If not, replace it.
  21. I have to agree with Skymama. On August 8, 2008 I lost my fiance to a skydiving accident. Granted it wasn't at our home dz, but one of the hardest things to do was to get back on that airplane and jump out. I jumped the day after he died. I knew that first one wouldn't get any easier, but it would get harder, and I knew he'd be happy that I got back up there, regardless of the "she's jumping???" whispers behind my back. Six days later we had a Memorial Boogie for him at the dz that he died at. It was really hard to board that airplane, knowing it was the last one he jumped out of. But I did it, and I knew he was with me. What do they say about dreams? If you're dreaming and you're in danger, or whatever, all it takes is to turn around and look at it head on and it goes away. The first one will be hard, but take it from me, the second one won't be so bad (especially since you won't owe beer for it). Take care!
  22. 0:2:0 Took full advantage of the high of 16F and clear blue skies on Saturday and did an awesome 10 point 3-way and a coach jump with Roger Nelson. Yes, Roger Nelson. And no, I'm not on crack. We actualy have a student who's name is Roger Nelson.
  23. For TI--$50 and TI's are responsible for packing. If they don't want to pack, they have to find someone to do it for them and $10 goes to that packer. AFFI--We don't do AFF but we get $5 for each student we put out on the static line. Once they are on freefall, we don't get paid. Video--Tandem videos are $55 but the videographer also has to pay their slot (so if they go from 10,000', the videographer nets $40). We don't charge for solo students. If the instructor has a video camera they'll often time throw it on when jumping with students. If the student brings in a DVD we'll burn a copy for free. Coach--$0, and coaches pay for their own jumps, and the student pay it forward eventually.
  24. Freezy pops in the microwave Pizzas in the oven I sure do miss all of your lovin' I'll never forget When you looked into my eyes And with a loving look said, "Get the fuck away from my apple pies" I'll miss you today I'll miss you tomorrow Hopefully one of these days Will lessen my sorrow Hope the skies are blue up there, Buppers!
  25. But anyway that we can keep the profiles of those that we've lost over the years still... ...I don't know. What does "purging" include? I hate to think all of Todd's stuff would just *poof* disappear.
