  1. I'm very much looking forward to the weekend. See everyone there! Thanks, Sandy, for all your hard work for the NPSL meets! It is greatly appreciated!!!!
  2. :3:0 Finally a weekend without owing beer!
  3. And let me guess...You stopped and joined them? Or are you talking in the third person again?
  4. I was surprsed at how many people pack enough to get it signed off on the A license. I answered the dz phone one early winter day and the jumper was from a near by dz that closes for the winter. He wanted to know if we had packers available because if not, he could only jump twice because he only has two rigs. He had about 50 jumps and an A license. Funny thing is that we do not have packers at our dz. Everyone would rather spend their money on jumping that packing. I told him that we would have people available to help him pack. He showed up a few times and got him packing (no small feat considering he had newer slippier snot canopies). In the middle of winter, we went to a helicopter boogie and after one of his jumps he was packing. A rigger from his home dz asked him, "You must be jumping at Chip this winter?" He responded with "Yeah I am. Why?". The rigger's comment was "Because you're packing". I was glad we could help! It's never to late to learn to pack. And no canopy is ever to new to learn how to pack no matter how many jumps you have.
  5. I have a jumpsuit that I'm not using. I'm one of those "curvy" girls. Hopefully your not one of those "tall girls" and maybe we can work something out. I'll PM you with the size.
  6. I'm wondering if its an SOS that they put a dummy cutaway handle on? Before I had my A license I knew how to put a main on risers on to a harness (including checking line continuity, not just putting the risers through the 3 rings). I had watched a reserve get repacked and understood how that worked. I knew exactly how an RSL worked. I owe this to all my the instructors and experienced jumpers at my dz taking the time on bad weather days to go over things. I got my S/L-I rating last weekend, and I guarentee that I will be paying forward this time and information. While I think it takes instructors to offer their time and be approachable in order for newer jumpers to learn this, it also take a little effort on the students part. I've seen a few "young" jumpers at our dz, walk in, make their two jumps and as soon as they are done packing, head out the door. One of these jumpers misrouted his bridal on the first jump of his new to him rig and ended up with a reserve ride after a pilot chute in tow. Students have to be willing to come on bad weather days, or spend some time after sunset. The stuff you learn on the ground is just as valueable as the stuff you learn in the air. I knew how to do the afore mentioned things not only because I spent many bad weather weekend days at the dz, but also because my instructors encouraged me to do so and made themselves and their time available. If I wasn't encouraged to come out on bad weather days, I probably wouldn't have. Its a two way street that instructors set the tone for.
  7. :2:1 Beer owed for getting my S/L-I rating.
  8. 4000--Depending on the jump and who is on it, either track right now or finish the point and go 3000--Finish track, wave off and deploy 2000--You should have pulled your main by now!
  9. Then: 30 year old excited about doing my first four s/l jumps the previous two days. Single, home owner, and happy. Now: 32 year old excited about getting my instructor rating (weather permitting) this weekend. Engaged, owner of a house for sale, and very happy.
  10. Yeah! Or in Wisconsin where jump all year long!

  12. Wow! That's awesome! Popsjumper: Congrats on the 5 way!
  13. How 'bout those Northwest Division champs??? Go Wild!!!
  14. This thread might help you. http://www.dropzone.com/cgi-bin/forum/gforum.cgi?post=3058507;search_string=how%20to%20put%20a%20viso%20;#3058507
  15. :5:1 Beer owed for #400. Took advantage of having all 3 182's running and 3 pilots on hand and marked the occasion with a 12 way formation load.
  16. I did it to check it off my "list". I was going to do one tandem, get the video and watch it over and over the rest of my life. Two years, 400 jumps and thousands of dollars later...here I am.
  17. Gene was in Japan shooting a movie. How much you want to bet that he knew exactly what he was doing when he was fired? Either he knew he wouldn't be able to finish the show to the end when he started or he made the movie deal when they were filming and decided to bolt from the show to do the movie. I still think that Gene could have won, but Pierz did an awesome job raising money. I thought Trace's comments about the "BSB" were hilarious.
  18. Weather permitting I'll do my 400th this weekend. When I had about 50 jumps, Jamie did her 400th. We did a 4 way naked dive. I always wanted my 400th to be a naked way too (to keep the Team Jynn tradition), but I'm not sure if I am up for doing a naked jump in March in Wisconsin. I'm not crazy like that one guy that does it every month!! Hopefully we'll have a big enough crowd that we can do an 8 or 12 way (seeing as all three plans are up and running right now). Have fun and congrats!!!!
  19. Cut the cells apart and use them as wind socks. We are almost through our first old canopy of winds socks.
  20. I'm going to have to call bullshit on this website. I ran my home address only to find out that there is a convicted felon living in the middle of the lake closest to my house. I also ran my old address which was in south Minneapolis. Total Ghetto! Major crime area. There was an undercover cop shot less than 1/2 block from my old house. There were almost no felons listed. Totally bogus. I wanted to make sure it wasn't a map error so I ran the dz address. Turns out we have a 17 year old convicted burglar living on the dz. Total BS. I know both people living in hangers at the dz, and neither of them are Larry Wagner and neither of them are even close to being 17 (sorry hon!). Turns out I should just checked here first... http://www.snopes.com/inboxer/hoaxes/felonspy.asp
  21. Just make sure you tell him or teach how to use the search function.
  22. For a new canopy...yes, they pack like a dream. We just got a brand, spanking new one about a month ago. We had a guy with about 50 jumps struggling slightly to get it in the bag but he did it. I wouldn't say it was easy for me, but it wasn't bad at all.
