Best jumpsuit to help slow fall rate.
wildfan75 replied to garymccutchen's topic in Gear and Rigging
www.skimmersuits.com -- The "Big John", if you're seriously fast. I thought I was going to need one but we just went with a regular RW suit with puffy sleeves and Kim's booties are big (added drag and power). If the regular suit slowed me down, the Big John has got to be mega slowing. Good luck! Fast fall rates blow but a custom suit will make a huge difference. You'll finally get to start flying naturally and concentraing on the dive vs. your fall rate and your confidence will skyrocket. Or at least it did for me. -
Add Playboy deal to that list. http://www.msnbc.msn.com/id/21834395/?GT1=10547

I think Rehmwa's use of the word immediately is being misunderstood (Bill--correct me if I am wrong please). A true hnp, clear & pull, is a "Go, Arch, Look, Reach, Pull" or "Go, Arch, Reach, Feel, Pull", in one fluid, steady and stable pace. So, in that sense, you're are leaving stable and immediately deploying stable. It will take a second or two to go through the motions but it shouldn't be "Go, Arch, Look at the nice sunset, check your fingers for hang nails, Reach, Pull" nor is it a "Go, Arch, Front Role, Get Stable, Reach Pull". Sorry to pick on you Kelpdiver, but the whole point of the clear and pull requirement for the A card is to learn and prove that you can exit stable and THEN deploy stable immediately. If you can't do this, then it shouldn't be signed off the card. And all seriousness aside, if someone is having trouble exiting stable and staying stable, I don't want to do RW with you. Waiting for you to get stable just cost us 2 points on the hill. Editted to change Bill's name to Rehmwa as to not confuse Bill Rehm with Billvon.

Chuteless Stunt Twisted into "Guy with Terminal Cancer chooses..."
wildfan75 replied to BIGUN's topic in The Bonfire
Sweet, a new porn site. Thanks Bigun!!!! -
Quick question...do you think that the line twist issues was a result of jumping the Katana (characteristics of the canopy), or because you were jumping a canopy at a WL of 1.9 (according to the WL from your profile)?

Should D license requirements be changed?
wildfan75 replied to Croc's topic in General Skydiving Discussions
You should try one before making that recommendation. They're not that dangerous, but they are different. The B requirement is suitable. You don't need 500 jumps to do one. Quote I have done them and I agree that they should not be a requirement for any license. I agree that there should be a license and skill requirement to do them, but not a requirement for anything. IMO I don't think they make you any better of a skydiver or prove anything other than you can safely skydive in the dark. I think that a better requirement for your D license woud be a CReW jump, like a 2 stack. That proves that you have a more "advance" concept of how to fly a canopy vs having it fly you, and with all our canopy collisions, and incidents and fatalities, I think it would be good. -
Is your 15 mile bike ride before or after you're done eating your daily lunch of 3 pizzas, a gallon of ice cream with chocolate syrup, a bag of potato chips, 3/4 of a pie and washing it down with a 2 liter of Mt. Dew or gallon of sugary fruit punch? And don't even try to tell me you don't eat that much. "I can't understand why I'm not losing weight and getting toned. I go to the gym almost every week day"

Emily Stelzer and she did great. I kept telling her that she had to come back and keep jumping so when everytime I talk about my first first freefall student everyone knows who I'm talking about. You did miss a beautiful weekend. Crystal clear blue skies, temps in the upper 40F's/lower 50F's, and winds under 6-16mph all weekend.

Very cool Especially at 4:42. That is a beautiful 9 way.

Hard openings on a spectre?
wildfan75 replied to millertime24's topic in General Skydiving Discussions
Ugh... There really aren't degrees of being a student or a license skydiver. Either you are a student or your not a student. And if you're dz is a USPA member, all students, regardless of degree, are required to jump with an AAD (Section 2-1, K, 2-d). Until you're a fully licensed skydiver jumping at a USPA dz, unfortunately its not your choice. Believe you me, no one better understands having to jump with uncomfortable leg straps (search my posts for "inter thigh bruise" and/or "oven mitts" and you'll see how uncomfortable our only student transition rig was for me). I would probably not advertise (and by advertising I mean making it know for the world to see) that your dz is allowing students to jump without AADs. Now go get your knowledge parts signed off and become a licensed skydiver. I'm sure your dz is looking forward to more beer -
Hard openings on a spectre?
wildfan75 replied to millertime24's topic in General Skydiving Discussions
They can't be too strict. They are, after all, letting you, a student according to your profile, jump with a rig without an AAD. -
Mmmmmm...Chipotle for me!
-
Yes, now that you have a beautiful new canopy that has been blessed enough to be jumped by the best! I'm gonna miss that canopy

Jumpsuit Modifications, codura source, and adding booties?
wildfan75 replied to DougH's topic in Gear and Rigging
Why not compromise with yourself? At $20 a jump (just guessing on the how much the boogie jumps are), why not do just 35 jumps at the boogie and get yourself a new suit (estimating $300 for a new suit). Best of both worlds. -
Whats up with Perris and skydivingmovies.com?
wildfan75 replied to martin-o's topic in General Skydiving Discussions
$165 is their summer price. The websites should be updated to say $175, and then with the "port and dock fees" (I guess you take a boat to altitude at Skyride dzs), its about $215 (give or take a dollar or two). Or at least that's what I was told when I called. So the prices they quote on their website is just for the jump and doesn't include taxes, fees, insurance, anal bandaids, etc. -
Skydive Wissota is in Chippewa Falls, WI, not near LaCrosse, WI. Skydive Hutchinson (MN) is closed and Skydive Waseca (MN) is missing.

Here's our S&TA. No worries about looking out for him. He's rather harmless.

I'm not that old but I remember... Atari 2600--My brother wanted one. My dad said he had to earn his own money to get one. He got a paper route and bought one, brought it home and my dad ask, "What are you going to hook it up to?". My brother had to call the newspaper company back so he could save up enough to buy a TV to hook it up to. Jarts!! Just this summer I went online to try to find a set to buy for the dz. I found out that they are now illegal in the US. WTF! But I suppose jarts and skydivers are a recipe for disaster so maybe its a good thing they are illegal. The yellow skis that you strapped onto your boots. We had a rotary phone until I was 16. I friggin' hated when you screwed up a number and had to start all over. I still have rabbit ears on my TV's. No cable, no Dish. I just can't bring myself to pay for TV. Romper Room on 45's. Wow, I feel old now.

Eric (Tonto) Stephenson - Goodbye my friend
wildfan75 replied to sangiro's topic in Blue Skies - In Memory Of
Wow... One of the threads that I'll always remember Tonto for was "Should 8 year olds be doing tandem?" (or something to that effect). He had just done lurked his daughters tandem and posted a link to some pictures. The link for those pictures are below. I'm not sure who's got the bigger smile, him or his daughter. But its obvious in both of their eyes... I've also attached my favorite of them. http://www.jsc.co.za/Photos.aspx?UserID=2 BSBD -
Pumpkin Toss-Skydive Wissota-10/26-28
wildfan75 replied to wildfan75's topic in Events & Places to Jump
Alright... My new main is hooked up. The car is loaded with 130 dinner rolls, 60 hot dog buns, 60 hot dogs, 40lbs of boneless turkey breast, a 20lb ham, 14 boxes of Stove Top Stuffing, 3 boxes of potato buds (yeah, that's right, you're getting instant potatos!), 12lbs of baby carrots, 16 cups of gravy, 3 stalks of celery, 6 apple pies, numerous spices and assorted ingredients and 2 cases of beer. My (and Todd's) costumes are ready and packed. The pumpkins are at the dz (Thanks Connor!! You're not as bad as people say you are!). The creeper wheels have been greased for Creeper Wars 3 (Julie--it is so GAME ON!!!!). The clubhouse has been cleaned. We start at 1pm Friday. Let's have at least 4 people there to get that 1st load up so I can start skydiving! We're looking forward to seeing everyone there!
