  1. How are you guys so confident it's just a "correction"? It is normal to have a bear market once in a while, doesn't have to be a depression.
  2. I didn't realize you knew me so well. I won't try to have an objective conversation with you. I LOVE capitalism and won't apologize for it. I LOVE personal responsibility. I LOVE giving money to charity... but HATE being forced to. I hope you don't have kids your teaching this bullshit to. Beleive it or not I care about my kids more than money. That's why I'm gonna teach them about money, and how to make it, not beg for it. Good luck pal
  3. Really? Can you give some examples of this? GDP will FALL if this is true. It definitely didn't happen last time, in fact we came out of a recession fairly quickly considering the other circumstances. I'm certainly not a huge fan of our current tax structure but your post almost sounds ridiculous to me. Beleive it or not, most small businesses in this country are corporations, it's not just Starbucks and Wall Mart. Almost all employees in the US are working for a corporation of some sort. Your drop zone is probably a corporation too, unless it is a club.
  4. That's not what I got from Bernanke today. What's your opinion on this... do you think inflation concerns are more important to them than domestic growth? Do you think domestic growth will not be a problem this year making it a moot point? Maybe... i'll tell you next year... but my shirts were paid for in gold quite a while ago thanks to FED policy. Maybe I don't give our FED people enough credit, but once this credit market starts getting really tight I just can't beleive their gonna bring rates back up at the same time. This type of thing is just a hobby though, i'm an amateur.
  5. How low will they go this time? I want to sell my precious metals after such a good run but can't bring myself to beleive anything other than rates will be going right back down.
  6. Priceless... that sounds like a large part of academia to me.
  7. *** I'm responsible. I work hard. I invest. Someone explain why it should be taken away and given to those that dont. *** It should not. I don't know what income bracket your in, but as far as taxes, I will suggest you just memorize the serenity prayer. You must accept this, it will not change in our lifetime. It will probably get worse. As for family, who i'm sure you genuinely wish to empower, I feel your pain. Some people get motivation, some do not... I wish I knew how to create the motivation. I've tried the education route but they just don't get it. It doesn't matter what the scenario is, they will always be a victim. Part of my family, I would give up everything for today if I had to, yet they would never ask. The other part, who have had every opportunity I have and more, will never stop asking. I believe the only answer is motivation. Some people get kicked around, and decide to change their life, others don't. Some do just not understand adaptability. Good luck.
  8. This is what I thought you meant... Meaning if I were a banker, I would seriously consider other business avenues if it were up to the president to lower my interest rates (after the loan is made). There is no easier way to make money legally than to loan your money out with interest. This is tried and true, with thousands of years of history behind it. I suppose congress could pass legislation to do so but that would be counter productive to what all the "Keynesians" over at the FED have been trying to do. They have been staving off recession,(as you've pointed out the technical definition) since 2000. That is why they have lowered interest rates so much and sacrificed the value of the dollar. Maybe they're right, maybe not, I don't think the jury is out yet on that. If they pass laws to decide what the banks MUST do it will seriously tighten liquidity, which is the opposite of what they have been shooting for. Puting money into the economy is the whole point of lowering interest rates. That keeps the economy going and hopefully raises GDP. However I haven't read exactly what this "bailout" is, I'm pretty confident its all voluntary at this point. (I'm a small business owner, not a banker). If its NOT voluntary... then I'll start to worry. Other wise I don't think its gonna make much of an impact, many housing markets have a long ways to fall to meet rent comparisons. If i'm wrong I'm sure there's a banker here, or mortgage guy, cough...cough...(salesmen) who can set me straight.
  9. Thank you...how do people believe this? No one would EVER get a loan if that were true.
  10. They should be hooked up to lie detectors and asked yes or no questions about all their philosopihes. That would be entertaining.
  11. I have concluded that BUYING is where you make your money. If its rental property, this will determine your future cash flow which is the whole point, usually.
  12. You think i'm defending Fox news? That's pretty good for a laugh too.
  13. Oh my God... of course the anchor knows its a joke.
  14. Gaddafi's invite of inspectors in 2003 was coincidental too of course.
  15. Sure, but "good citizenship" is very subjective... especially in something like this with so much political clout. The politics can create a perfect storm of sentiment, capital, and legislation for who ever can utilize it. DISCLAIMER: I will not argue about wether global warming exists, is man made, or can be fixed. I have no opinions on this.
  16. If I had to bet money on it, I don't beleive CEOs of large corporations would urge the US president to do anything unless they were poised to step in and take advantage.
  17. Is that supposed to be some kind of British humor?
  18. It must really suck to have to rely on other people to take care of you. Try Tony Robbins or something.
  19. Looks like they are, notice the stock price is cut in half in a few months, under heavy volume. http://finance.yahoo.com/q/bc?s=MER&t=6m
  20. A VCR is no big deal but if someone tried to steal my DVR, i'd gun them down in the street like a sewer rat.
  21. Look out business owners. The Green Mafia will soon be taking a cut of YOUR money.
  22. The US probably won't be the next ones to use a nuke. Pretty good chance we'll be second to next though.
