I'm pretty sure any response you get justifying this will be from people who derive their income, or some type of net benefit, though taxation. "The government doesn't create anything it just redistributes" is a cliche for a reason. People who actually create wealth are the ones who are forced to recognize this. Magna Carta came about because of people with money saying enough is enough. The American revolution and any number of other things as well. The world is a lot easier to traverse these days, people can move, and take their wealth with them. At one time kings and queens actually had to go to banker types to finance wars and such, not the other way around. The idea of making people beleive we can tax our way into equality is a joke. I have little respect for people who live their whole lives as institution men.

It can also keep heavy hitters from leaving the party since it's getting a whole lot easier to find other places to do business.

Having a wall stolen is naive? Do you rig yours with C4 and a pressure guage or do you post sentry's?

Invite ahmadinejad and his supreme leader to the white house for barbecue shrimp and coronas. At the same time send kermit roosevelt jr jr jr to tehran on vacation just to see what happens.

I suggest you understand how to defend youself because police can't stop you from getting robbed or harmed. I would never bet my life on the police protecting me. Even in a communist stronghold like California you still have the right to trial by jury, just like the cops.
-
Why do people call the police to protect them if they don't like the way they do business? The cops didn't just show randomly.

Oh yeah... the "free" state of Maryland.

Must be a Tough Day to be Crying the "R" word...

Real growth. Seriously people if you want a new definition then just make a new word. -

Great idea, lets stop quantifying them. Then we can just say we are... or we aren't in a recession, call it a gut feeling. -
Awww... life must be hard for this poor little enlightened fella. He'll probably go nuts when his mom kicks him out of the cellar and makes him go get a job.

Excerpts from Ron Paul's new book The Revolution:

I'm starting to think we're there. A year ago I just thought we would just see low rates again, and the inflation that follows. I hadn't envisioned all these maneuvers by the Fed. Republicans talk a big game about free markets when they're rising. Once they're falling... they don't like them to be so free. -
Why Pilots Should Not be Allowed Firearms on Planes

I'm with you, many don't understand the inside of a gun. I don't have padlocks or even thumb safety's on any of my handguns... just holsters. Yet by the grace of god i've never fired one accidentally or "negligently". The whole idea gets tiresome to listen to. The TSA system sounds bad, but still... come on. -
Wright & Obama: when does "angry" become "hateful"?
joedirt replied to likearock's topic in Speakers Corner
I liked his speech... his explanation was good enough for me. As a white guy growing up in a very diverse and lower income neighborhood I thought he nailed the present day race issue pretty good. I do think what your talking about is semantics. It's a ton of other unrelated issues as to why I won't be voting for Obama. -
Being "oversold" is subjective. You make it sound like a stock market, not a currency. Why would people buy dollars when we keep creating money at unprecedented levels? The floating exchange rate still holds but theres a problem. If the workers in S America are making $1.50 hr US, and the worker in China is making $0.50 hr US, and the worker in the US is making $10.00 hr US, Then how far will the dollar have to fall before our manufactured goods become cheap? Even worse, since the Euro, Yen and other major players are on fiat currency too we could have global inflation. Especially if they decide to follow our lead and "liquidate" their markets. Then the dollar could bottom yet oil, gold and commodities would still rise. This is how I see the fundamentals.
-
You got any fundamental reason why the dollar will rise?
-
Sadly that is the most important point that people don't get. Many societies have gone to fiat currencies, but we are the first one to convince the majority of the world to do so.

I like the way Ted Nugent puts it. http://youtube.com/watch?v=T_QjEL0uUgo "Lets imagine there wasn't a second ammendment..." Good luck telling people in this country they don't have the right to defend themselves. Lots of flyover country to de-arm. -
*** Instead, the tax system isn't designed to be "fair", it is designed to provide the federal govt with a tool to control the states. *** Amen to that brother. Money is control, that's all it is.
-
If those were my only two choices sure. Bring em home, shut em down. Its not though, there are lots of other taxes. Air traffic control is hardly the first thing that needs to go, surely you know that.
-
Yet another reason to get rid of income tax. You probably pay capital gains too, but you probably don't make a living at it. We pay enough in local taxes, our feds don't need to distribute our money to pay cops and pave roads. Its funny how you continue too bash our government but you don't think money is where the power comes from. This nation did just fine before there was an income tax.
-
Why do keep defending the federal government robbing us of our money when you clearly believe they are irresponsible at spending it?
-
Yeah these guys are obviously racists since they don't like the government collecting their money and deciding how to distribute it. Probably hate children too...don't want them to have health care. Tell it to them sister.

Excellent article, thanks for posting. I think voters are more or less in two categories. The first saying what will you do for me. The second saying what will you let me do. It feels like its getting a bit lopsided lately.

Gotta wait another 6 months before you can say "recession."
joedirt replied to lawrocket's topic in Speakers Corner
Yes. I wouldn't bet either way that we'll have a recession... obviusly many people think that recession is a subjective term, of course their wrong. What the stock market might correct in a couple of weeks though, can take housing markets years. Since both residential and commercial contruction were quite an influential part of our GDP recently, it very well could fall down to the negative. Expecting market situatons to fall back to sustainable prices isn't "doom and gloom" in my book. It's just smart investing, and part of a cycle. It's actually what investors should look for. When people think of their primary residence as an investment, then this is the attitude you get. Many people in their twenties have only seen housing prices go up untill this year. If the economy does grow while real estate falls it will be a great opportunity for those who are prepared. Maybe I'm wrong. Perhaps our FEDeral government can fix all our markets in a continually upward direction... but that's not what i'll bet my money on. -
What will you do with YOUR economic stimulus money?
joedirt replied to quade's topic in Speakers Corner
*** I do believe the Middle Class pay the biggest share of the total taxes is this not correct? *** Propaganda hard at work.
