  1. In Reply To -------------------------------------------------------------------------------- How would bloody feel if you were put on a wall by a superior species cos they liked the colour of our skin or hair? Bet youd smile then! -------------------------------------------------------------------------------- The problem that I have is being taxidermied and then being stuck in a box with a lid on it.
  2. Seems like the yes men from the other side don't know on which side their bread is buttered. Who caved? The stupidest man in the world has outfoxed all of those intelligent liberals one more time. I love it.
  3. His previous veto stood because even the Congress didn't have >the strength to follow through. Wrong! He used the veto to deny a bunch of greedy legislators billions in pork that had absolutely nothing with supporting the troops. Supplying troops and giving spinach farmers a free ride shouldn't even be on the same piece of paper. Let's get honest, here!

    !@#Termites!@#

The problem with termite damage is that much of it can remain hidden without opening things up. I recently did a job where a dryer vent apparently became misrouted and put a lot of moisture into the wall. I was supposed to put on some new siding, and upon realizing that the nails weren't grabbing anything, I started tearing the sheathing off. I ended up rebuilding about 6' of wall from the floor to the rafters. There was no obvious evidence until I opened it up. From your description, I would access the job from inside the house by first removing the flooring. Not only will you be able to find the limits of the damage but you will have an easier time of replacing everything. Trying to install joists in crawl space is most often a nightmare. Depending on the amount of damage, I might cut all of the damaged joists the same length and install a header to support them. Then reinstall new joists with hangers, or set them on a ledger board. I use screws for all of the major fastening. This would eliminate having to use twice as much lumber that scabbing would use.
  5. Does condecension fit the bill?
  6. I don't think you read the paragraph you're quoting. -------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Funny that the Dems look like a sieve when it comes to leaking intelligence that always seems to give the enemy an advantage, but they couldn't come up with the info about wmd's on their own. Oh, I know. Pelosi didn't have the ability to talk to Sadaam in person. -------------------------------------------------------------------------------- I'll paraphrase it for you. The Dems were duped into voting for the war because intelligence was cherry picked in order to present the view that the Repubs wanted to present. All but a few legislators jumped on the bandwagon to go to war. Now that it is no longer expedient to hold that position, they have now climbed over the fence. These people simply do not know the meaning of personal integrity. Joe Lieberman [D] Conn. is the only Dem that comes to mind who actually understands the concept of sticking by your guns, at the cost of the derision and alienation of his party. He grasps the reality that the enemy is not contained within any given borders, and we may very well be taking the fight to them in a number of countries over a period of several years.
  7. Reply To -------------------------------------------------------------------------------- According to the recent Senate Intelligence Committee report, the Bush administration classified and withheld the intelligence unfavorable to its position from the Congress. The senators and representatives were fed only the cherry-picked intelligence that Bushco wanted them to hear. -------------------------------------------------------------------------------- So, back then they were voting a position that would put them in the best politcal light, but now they have seen the light and are voting their consience? Still hypocritical. -------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Funny that the Dems look like a sieve when it comes to leaking intelligence that always seems to give the enemy an advantage, but they couldn't come up with the info about wmd's on their own. 8. So, back then they were voting a position that would put them in the best politcal light, but now, they have seen the light and are voting their consience? Still hypocritical. If tomorrow, everything fell together politically, and started to show serious improvment, they'd all be back on the other side of the fence.
  9. Why is it that I detect on this thread a sense of contempt/hostility toward christians? -------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Pardon me. Haven't you shown disgust for anyone who has faith in Christ? Just another character in a huge fairytale.

    Chicks on Speed

Danica looks good in that layout, but that Latina is definately spankable.
  11. Do we need to go back and look at Shillary's record on supporting the war? Integrity? She must be a member of the hypocrat party.
  12. >what we did was nothing more than sophomoric pranks. I never saw pictures of that in the press. Believe me, if they were available, they would be out there.
  13. My point is that compared to the pictures of torture, what we did was nothing more than sophomoric pranks. Strange that the human rights orginizations never uttered a peep over the Pearl or Burg videos. I guess they just consider it a way of life with those people.
  14. No more so than putting a thumb tack or a piece of chewed gum on the teacher's chair.
  15. I'm really disappointed that they have left out a couple of the more severe methods of torture. [1] A pair of panties placed over the head. [2]Having several prisoners perform a kneeling, cheerleader pyramid.

    Noah's Ark

To build the first vessel ever mentioned, of those dimensions, would have required years of labor and would have also required a reason to do so; i.e. a forewarning. On an aside, it is my understanding that the dimensions of the ark are perfect in the boatbuilding world.

    Noah's Ark

No. He didn't spend his daylight hours sitting on his ass posting on the internet.
  19. Some people? Well, let's give the phrase some thought using rather recent history. Let's play teacher/ student, OK? In the last century can you name several groups [some] of people who chose not to live peacefully with others around them, and had to be dealt with severely[ the sword]? Oh, by the way, this is a history lesson, not a vocabulary lesson. Germany/ WW1 Germany, Japan, Italy/WW2 Iraq/Gulf War __________________________________________________ My questions in the previous post were rhetorical to make a point. I didn't really expect an answer. The point was that those who treat others in their society harshly only respond to that same level of harshness, in order to teach them a lesson. And yes, I believe that we are in a global ideological war spawned by the religion of Islam. Some people; oops, there are those words again, aren't going to figure it out until they are picking glass out of their face from an explosion at the local mall.
  20. Sorry. That was a typo that I didn't catch in my proof read. Basically, I was saying that there will be a war with radical Islam coming to a town near you, soon!
  21. Hasn't law enforcement captured several radical Islamists recently, who were plotting to do serious damage to the infrastructure? It was their intention of bringing their war of ideology to people whom they consider to be infidels.
  22. Yea, I'm just winging it off of the top of my head. What are their laws concerning women in general? How about women who have sex outside of marriage? Do they sit them down and have a nice little talk with them? How do they treat someone carrying a Bible instead of a Quran? It is a religion that does not know the meaning of tolerance. There are some people who only respond to the most severe of punishment. Let's say that I have a naturally antagonistic neighbor. Maybe he has dogs that bark all night, or holds loud parties into the night. I call the police on him, he suspects it's me, and the next day my mailbox has been destroyed. It finally comes to a head to head and I soundly kick his ass. Instead of trying to get along, he starts looking for an opportunity for revenge. This person is only going to understand incarceration or death. Some people simply have no intention of getting along with their neighbors. In Baghdad there are different sects of the same religion and their way of resolving differences surely isn't to sit down and have a talk. They blow each other to bits. Have I missed something in my observations? No bigotry or racism in that observation that I can see.
  23. They are particularly attracted to the sound of a skilsaw. I've had many of them land directly on the saw or on my hand while cutting lumber.
