Reply To -------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Therefore, it should come down to a personal choice -------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Think of the children. The govt. forces me to pay property taxes for the support of the school system and I don't even have children. Never have. Where the hell is my choice?

If a woman has carried up to the point of viability, she has had plenty of time to think about the situation. Using the argument to justify the heinous act of partial birth abortion just doesn't hold water. The child is one minute away from taking its first natural breath, and its life is taken. I say, give me a break! OTOH, if the mother dumps the kid into a trash can as she walks out of the hospital, she goes to jail.

The position of the pro-choice crowd, whether true or not, seems to be that in order to save the life of the mother, the child must die. -------------------------------------------------------------------------------- There's no argument that abortion is legal, or that there are situations where the final solution is the best solution. I just believe that the 'life of the mother' argument, which seems to be the first one presented by the pro-choice crowd, is really a bogus argument, especially if the child has already reached the point of viability.

Are you a closet right winger? Come on out!

How many people who turn a blind eye from the abhorrence of the murder of millions of unborn babies, would gladly send someone to jail for throwing a bag of newborn kittens into a river? It's pure hypocracy. -------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Hey, you missed one that would be really good. Shoving a pipe into the base of their skulls and sucking their brains out.

Quote -------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Just recently, and I don't know the exact numbers, a child was delivered at 23 weeks and has done well. -------------------------------------------------------------------------------- The position of the pro-choice crowd, whether true or not, seems to be that in order to save the life of the mother, the child must die. With today's medical advancments, the viability of the fetus is greatly increased, so the death of the fetus is most often up to the mother's choice. The irony of it all is that women are supposed to be in touch with gentler, emotional, ethereal side of life. There are 40 million dead babies who would disagree, if they could.

Sorry. I believe basic human rights should be extended to all fetuses, and for female fetuses, I believe they should be given the right to choose. It's only fair.

Vanessa Williams isn't white?

I have a problem with the whole 'saving the life of the mother' argument. It just doesn't hold water, considering today's medical technology. Just recently, and I don't know the exact numbers, a child was delivered at 23 weeks and has done well. There are very few honest arguments in the defense of abortion. Saying that you don't want to end up on the public dole doesn't work. The child can be given up for adoption. Saving the mother's life doesn't work, especially after a certain point in the pregancy. The child has to be delivered anyway. Why does it have to be killed. Vanity is not really a reason, just an excuse. Legitimate reasons would be, rape, incest, or bringing a severly deformed child into the world, and even that has its limitations.

I am loaded at 1.1:1 and know that on any given dive, even if I open a little lower, that eventually I.m going to end up landing last in my particular group. If I happen to open over the holding area, then I might spiral down to get out of the sky, otherwise, I try to get stacked in the pattern, by going into brakes, knowing that faster canopies are going to pass me anyway. It seems that most of the time, landing is a free for all, whereas, a nicely stacked pattern is not only orderly, but a thing of beauty. Any thoughts?

Quote -------------------------------------------------------------------------------- I would love to see an across the board study of every woman who has ever had an abortion, and the number who actually have a deep regret for doing so. I'll bet it's huge. -------------------------------------------------------------------------------- So you don't think that most women come to the reality that they have extinguished the life of their own child, by choice?
-
Where would you stand if your 15 yr. old daughter presented you with that argument? Whether you have one or not, I don't know.

really try to stay out of things here (SC) but this is a hot issue for me. I would love to see an across the board study of every woman who has ever had an abortion, and the number who actually have a deep regret for doing so. I'll bet it's huge.

Taking a Chicken on a Skydive -- Animal Cruelty?
Royd replied to masterblaster72's topic in Speakers Corner
If it has the ability to contemplate its own mortality, it should also be able to appreciate that fact that it has just flown higher than an eagle. BTW, certain chickens do fly. Bantees, left to themselves, roost in trees. -
I believe that every unborn baby should have their opportunity to end up on death row.

The problem here is that if the mother's health is in danger, the child still has to be removed. Why does it's life have to be snuffed out in the process?

I find it quite ironic that those who pretend to stand up for the downtrodden, and "Life's less fortunate",[heavy sarcasm] think that it's OK to flush the truly innocent ones down the tiolet, on a moment's whim, to protect the less innocent. I say that those who use public money for an abortion, comes to the realization that they have murdered their own child, and goes into a depression, doesn't get public money to fix their mental health.

Reply To -------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Personally I'm anti abortion except for very exceptional cases. Having placed a probe on many a pregnant woman and working for years in a Neo natal unit I doubt not that life starts before birth. -------------------------------------------------------------------------------- So life isn't life until it's up and walking around.Kind of eliminates the slime pool mentality.

He called me Son. He taught me to tie my shoes. He carved my first stick horse, and a whistle from a willow. He helped me find the original pet rock, which I carried with me everywhere until I accidentally dropped it into the outhouse. He taught me how to milk a cow. He taught me how to fish and to appreciate the wilderness. He taught me how to butcher an animal. He taught me how to plant a tree. Thousands, actually. He taught me not to let my employer down, and how to apologize when I did. He taught me the meaning of pariotism. He allowed me to be myself, and gave me room to make mistakes. He understands that I am a free man, and just enjoys our conversations every few months. He is proud of me and I love him.

Consider it like getting a new set of tires on your truck so that you can go to work. It could be a valuable asset.
