  1. I would love to come, seems like a great place to be! Think will have to wait until 2009 though It's a definite place on my list though
  2. im in! i just need to figure my way around it
  3. PM me or just be there tomorrow. I'm going to get there around 9am and will gladly show you how to pack see you there
  4. "and i'm like going to do, whatever, you know like, fuck it, you know, so , it's not a problem. and then you know what I mean, like I was saying before, you know... so whatever" -hr girl sitting next to me (i'm not kidding)
  5. or, for that price, you could fly to US for a week on vacation and do it here, it would probably cost the same or even less
  6. + The Ranch is a very friendly, opened 7 days a week, 2 Otter + Porter dropzone. Great people, great vibe, lots of organizing and cool events. Great place for team training. New Hangar needs to still be finished but is a huge improvement over the "old setup". Awesome views, but place can be hard to spot if you're new to the area. - Landing area is long but narrow (comparing to any other DZ), uneven at certain spots with ditches, and sucks when wet (gets muddy quite easily) = I recommend this DZ and will be back whenever I get a chance to.
  7. My review from last year is below. Although I haven't spent much time there this year (08) I have to admit the place is noticeably getting better. I've seen more fun jumpers, more loads, more smiles :) Thumbs up. ----------------------------------------- Let me start with positives, as I have a sentiment for this place. It is a great place for a beginner looking for wide open spaces to land and great views. Most of the staff is good, friendly people, rigger is pretty good, and they're now flying King Air. That's about it. Comparing to other places around NYC area, this place -lacks vibe (no parties,no bond fire, etc, same small group of regulars, some friendlier than others) - lacks facilities (no place to eat, no lockers, awful packing area) - gets you to only 10-11k 50-60% of the time. Lifts are $24 to 13k and $22 for 10-11k, quite pricey if you ask me. - no organizing of any sort, no RW people to jump with - everything is focused on # of tandems per day My recommendation is to go and check it out by yourself, do a jump or two, enjoy the view. Then compare to places within similar distance from NYC like The Ranch, Sky's the Limit, or Cross Keys and you will not want to return to SDLI.
  8. Just watched a BBC series The Planets (Atmosphere) where Col. Kittinger talks about the jump. BBC has a good piece about it, so I wanted to share. http://www.tv-links.co.uk/show.do/9/5258 Click on show #6 Atmosphere, it will play in flash. The coverage is between minutes 2.30 - 8. It's breathtaking!
  9. I tried exactly the same thing this weekend. My Sabre2 had some off headings in the past but they were fine, not long either, but I wanted to give it a shot after reading this post. In short, the less meticulous I am with my pack jobs, the better they open. I never touched the nose, and rolled it very slightly and I had some nice openings this weekend!!! Maybe only 1 or 2 were off by 90 degrees out of 12 jumps, besides that nice on heading :) It is a big improvement, as I used to have off headings on almost half of my jumps before that. I have to add, I changed my body position too a little, keeping my legs together during swivel and my hands just on the risers just above 3 rings to keep my body symetrical
  10. You need to be leaving on sat mornings as it only takes 1h30mins
  11. Another for the Ranch :) That, or CrossKeys of course
  12. Not sure what CK1 guys do. I haven't been there for long enough to comment (5 weeks), just posting what the listed guidelines are.
  13. didn't you post this already today?
  14. like mother, like son... there, i said it
  15. I'm happy that you laughed. I definitely like the significant inverse relationship between pirates and global temperature....
  16. Since we have a post about flat earth society... this is the Church of the Flying Spaghetti Monster http://www.venganza.org/
  17. From their FAQ: Q: "Why has no-one taken a photo of the Earth that proves it is flat?" A: The government prevents people from getting close enough to the Ice Wall to take a picture. ahahahahahah comedy gold!!!!
  18. Finally something I agree with. Skydiving is amazing, but we can't forget it's only a part of our life. There are other things to enjoy in life, and it's not like you're dead when you stop jumping (so give me a break with life=skydiving comparisons )
  19. hahaha you are a sick fuck, billy still made me laugh though
