  1. Hey guys, check this dude out http://www.rockclimbing.com/photos/Misc/Lycra--oh_yeah_baby._29286.html He doesn't seem to like skydivers much. What do those pants really say
  2. "the average wages of the south Asian laborers, who work in summer in temperatures reaching 50 degrees Celsius (122 Fahrenheit), are "probably in the range of a couple of hundred US dollars a month" for a shift of "eight to 10 hours" a day, six days a week." Corporate world at its "best"
  3. Well, I've seen $37 per jump/$75 per day rentals. Gear not top notch either...
  4. it's your leg (life) and it's up to you to decide as you know your body best. Severe sprains are worse than broken bones, as they take longer to heal and become weaker afterwards. It took me 2 months to get back up after my sprain. It didn't look as bad as it was at first, and I thought I would be back up in 2 weeks tops, but it took me ... 7 I got back under canopy after I was comfortable running, playing soccer/basketball (my educated guess ) My advice is to wait, sky isn't going anywhere
  5. Captain Obvious Ric Romero type More at 11...
  6. Do it. That's that credit cards are for Seriously, maybe you can wait a few months/year, save the money, learn more about the sport. You will never stop learning, so the earlier you start the better :) I waited a "while" after my tandem and don't regret becasue I was broke and could not afford it. Sky will still be there when you have money (or just use those damn credit cards already )
  7. It is all relative. Depends on the skill set. I'm new, just started recently (49 jumps), but I know I want to coach and become an AFFI one day. Not for $, but for the teaching part. The sooner this can happen the better. However, having said that, I know I will not do it until I am positive I have all the knowledge (ok, maybe not all since nobody knows it all), skills, right attitude, and 100% confidence, that will make me a great instructor. Will I get my coach rating at 100, 200 or 300? Will I become an AFFI at 500, or 1000+ jumps? I don't know. I only know that I will take my time to make sure I am outstanding at what I do. /wait, is that relevant to the original post?
  8. "Binary for the motherfuckin win biotches! " ??? HAHA
  9. Ha! From newyorkmetro.com: "Shuttle: A shuttle leaves every 20 minutes to shepherd you to Puck's sister bars, Swift Hibernian Lounge and Ulysses" I used to go to Ulysses every now and then when I worked downtown. My buddy (also a skydiver) and I were thinking of doing a tour of 3 places in a shuttle bus!!! Haha, that's funny....
  10. why so much emphasis on the legal aspect? Hey, don't judge me, I'm just asking
  11. Well, we are talking about music videos on youtube, if I'm correct, not sharing music. But going on tangent of sharing music here.. I'd say that sharing music fucks music labels and "artists" more than real artists/musicians. Years ago, musicians made money playing concerts, being on tours, not selling tapes/cds. Now we have people who can't sing (labels signing anybody marketable) who's only chance of making money is selling albums, because they suck in real life. Labels want $, they don't care about the true artists (who are doing well playing concerts btw). Now add few lawyers in the picture ... But it's just my theory And yes, I'm a arrrrrrr ------------------------------------------------ 1.music labels sniffing money + lawyers 2.? (lawsuit) 3. profit lol
  12. I may swing by... where is that place?
  13. I trule hate music industry. Money sharks. They would sell their mothers to make more $$$ It makes me [puke] ps how come htere is no 'puke' smiley?
  14. just did 114 on my 6th attempt. Piece of cake
  15. So, who is the TI in the movie :) I did some digging, and found screenshots from the movie SFW - chick and TI very NSFW - movie details Also - NSFW Trailer (4.8MB) - mostly skydiving - recognize those guys?
  16. Thank you all for replying! Great info, I knew I could count on you Looks like I will be at RIT Oct 14-15, and when have time, will drive to a DZ for a jump or 2. Jimmy, I think that King Air won me over Again, thanks for the info. You guys are awesome!
  17. Yes, it is. As I mentioned in my first post - I found their website. I need info from fellow skydivers about this place though. Recommendation, etc before i call the place up. Thanks.
  18. I know the Ranch. I live in Brooklyn, have been there before.. I'm visiting a friend who goes to Rochester Institute of Technology, and just want to do a quick jump there :) (withing 0.5-1hr away) Where to go, where to go? Anybody?
  19. Hi, Looks like I will be in Rochester, NY next weekend. Do you know of any nice places to jump there? I found Frontier Skydivers here on DZ, and place called "Rochester Skydivers" which is closer but I don't have much info about it... Which place would you recommend? Thanks!
  20. Thanks Riggermick! That makes alot of sense. I think I will change my habit and rotate the bag...
  21. "I think when he said "stows down" he meant toward the backpad as opposed to toward the BOC, resulting in a 90 degree difference in orientation inside the container. " Thank you, that's what I meant - ehhh couldn't get the wording together.... Well I'm not sure what the real difference is, that's how I was taught.... I was really shown both ways (stows facing backpad, stown facing boc) and said it really did not matter much, but the personal preference was stows facing backpad (so that bag does not have to rotate that 90degrees when pulled by the bridle) Also, I've seen alot of poeple packing both ways...
  22. uhmm, I was taught not to rotate the bag. I just place it stows down, so that when the container is on the ground, the bridle is in the center/middle sticking out. Was told, this way the bag comes straight out on deployment
  23. Wait, hip-hop is a dance? I thought you just grab your crotch and swing your head back and forward ...
