Fixed it for ya. If you show a TV, a camera or a cell phone to the people of some tribe who never heard about those things, they would never understand it as well. Does it mean that those things are somehow related to God? * Don't pray for me if you wanna help - just send me a check. *

You know, in the Old Testament, God was full of Wroth and Vengeance. You did bad stuff, he rained brimstone down on your ungrateful ass or harrassed your people with 7 plagues. In the New Testament, its like he has turned over a new leaf, you don't hear some much of the nasty things he did to his people (because if you believe in it, everyone on earth is his creation) You know what happened around the time between the New Testament and the Old Testament? He got laid. (c) bash.org * Don't pray for me if you wanna help - just send me a check. *

So let's make it clear - did they have Jesus present on this AA meeting? How could they confirm that "his life has been transformed by a personal relationship with Jesus", not just by the fact that he understood the drinking problem - as he was present on AA meeting? Don't forget also that clinical studies showed that prayer had no effect on post-surgery patients - i.e. the Christian patients who prayed did not heal better or faster than non-Christians who didn't. How would you explain this? * Don't pray for me if you wanna help - just send me a check. *

Christianity - it now makes so much more sense

Then you've just said that your faith is no different from someone who believes into Zeus, Odin, or Flying Spaghetti Monster. Basically this means that your Jesus cannot do any harm to me unless I believe he could. Which contradicts completely with all Christians teach. * Don't pray for me if you wanna help - just send me a check. * -
Creationist brands cross on student's arm
georgerussia replied to billvon's topic in Speakers Corner
No way. You'd get some Christian judge who'd say that "Our Creator approved the cross as a symbol of those who are going to be rescued", and gave the teacher a monetary award for saving the poor kid from Hell. * Don't pray for me if you wanna help - just send me a check. * -
Christianity - it now makes so much more sense
georgerussia replied to livendive's topic in Speakers Corner
Well, I'd say that those Christians, who cannot tolerate anyone and anything talking about their Jesus in a way not approved by their church, probably should avoid public forums. Last time I checked the rules it was very clear that attacks against groups (this includes Christians) were allowed. If you or anyone else is not comfortable with this, it would make sense to stay away from "Speaker Corner". No, it's a bad example. Jesus is not your closest loved one. It's a well-known popular figure you MADE a fetish yourself. Using the same logic someone could ask everyone else to stop posting bad things about George Bush, since they choose it to be their closest loved one. Then it's their problem. In another thread a lot of people (some of them supposely were Christians as well) wrote "fuck the commies". Well, Christians - as a group - is not different at all, so why not do the same to them? * Don't pray for me if you wanna help - just send me a check. * -
Same as Christians - you could ask "what _true_ Christianity is about" a Catholic, a protestant, a Jehova Witness, an Eastern Orthodox, and you will not get the same answers. Which means that in the best case only one of them is right, and the rest are wrong. It's also possible that all of them are wrong. But since everything could basically fit into either "good things" or "bad things", we'll get: Gay sex - God loves us Abortion - God loves us Whatever else - God loves us Right? * Don't pray for me if you wanna help - just send me a check. *

So why anyone ever needed Jesus to "show the path", if your God has always reached out them? Why did you need the missionaries, and the crusades? Why are you so insistent on spreading the word about your Jesus if it's completely useless since the God already reached all of us out? * Don't pray for me if you wanna help - just send me a check. *

SCOTUS: Gitmo detainees can go to civil courts

Raising our kids in religion. I'm anti, she's pro

What is "blasephmy"? My dictionary doesn't have it. In fact the Eastern/Greek Orthodox Christians state that the baptism procedure cleans your slate up, and removes all your sins if you never been baptised before. And they basically agreed that yes, you could ask Jesus to suck your dick your whole life, and then - right before death - get baptised and accept Jesus as your saviour, and should go right to Heaven, since all your previous sins are now forgotten. Of course, it would definitely make sense to also accept Jehova, Allah, Krishnu, Perun, Odin and Zeus - just in case. Also I haven't understood yet what the Heaven gonna be - so far I only got several descriptions, and from all of them sounds like very boring and shitty place to be. Good - are you saying there ARE other gods? * Don't pray for me if you wanna help - just send me a check. * -
Probably the same that gave the people life directions before they ever heard about Jesus. * Don't pray for me if you wanna help - just send me a check. *

I already said it - open your heart to Zeus, and their love will come to you. Zeus is definitely greater than some Jesus. * Don't pray for me if you wanna help - just send me a check. * -
Yes, if I consider it a miracle created by a superpower. After all, we know that we could get someone back from clinical death using proper techniques, and we could turn water into wine by adding squeezed grapes and waiting a couple of months. However for anyone there is always a miracle they will believe, and to find one should not be a problem for a superpower. I would disagree. We have seen people "converted" between all of those. None of those are relevant. I'll repeat: in order to make your copy acceptable as evidence, you need to establish the following: - The fact that your copy is an authentic copy/translation of the original record. This is NOT easy to prove, since there is no certified original record. - The fact that original record represented a true and complete testimony (for example, the one who made the record didn't misunderstood the terms or even skipped some phrases altogether). This is IMHO impossible to prove. - The fact that original testimony existed, and the creator of original record didn't just think it out. As you see, it is definitely not easy. You cannot testify this, since it would be your conclusion. If a kid knows about Santa, and finds a Christmas gift in the morning, then he could believe Santa exists. However all he could only testify that he found this gift. He cannot testify that Santa exists, since it would be his conclusion. Many smart people have been turned off of Jesus because he didn't bother to provide any reasonable evidence of his own existense. All we have is a single book full of contradictions, mistakes and irrelevant stuff. * Don't pray for me if you wanna help - just send me a check. *

"Wisdom of God" is something like "conscience of Santa Claus". This is not evidence, it's your beliefs. Why should I? You already have your Jesus. * Don't pray for me if you wanna help - just send me a check. *

Unfortunately there were no miracles, which would be properly studied, documented and repeated, to confirm that it's truly a miracle. Having people coming back to life is not a miracle - it's something which happens every day in almost every hospital. The potential of human body to recover from damages is impressive, and the fact someone said you gonna die, and you didn't does not make it a miracle. "Things that can't be explained" is very broad definition - some of them could be considered a miracle (like resurrecting the dead), some do not. No, a direct testimony is not hearsay. The problem is that you never had a direct testimony. You have something which is claimed to be a copy of the original testimony, but you have no idea whether the copy is valid, whether the original testimony was recorded properly, or whether the original testimony ever happened at all. * Don't pray for me if you wanna help - just send me a check. *

I truly hope that other people who are sure of Jesus will one day understand there's even more to get Mighty Love from, and open themselves to Zeus, Rakot, Odin, Merlin, Krishna and several thousand other gods. * Don't pray for me if you wanna help - just send me a check. * -

You do. You just don't have reasonable evidence which could be considered acceptable for the rest of the people. The generic problem with all the evidence you have is hearsay, which cannot be cross-examined. It is basically the same as if I allege that Jesus lives in the cactus in my backyard, and to support that I'd provide a picture of cactus. Is the picture an evidence? Obviously; it might be considered the evidence the cactus is there. Will you believe Jesus lives there? May be; it depends whether you believe in it already, or not. This point is quite useless. Basically what you're saying is that you don't have to prove your point just because some people won't believe you anyway. This would be a good point if your goal was to convince either everyone or none. Sure, no matter what you do, SOME people would never believe in what they see anyway. However most people are very reasonable, and would accept the reasonable evidence. Most questions asked right here are very reasonable, nobody seriously asks Jesus to create a rock he wouldn't be able to lift. And if someone could not answer reasonable questions, and just says we need to believe him - how could we differ between him and a fake one? * Don't pray for me if you wanna help - just send me a check. *

Let me translate from Russian the award-winning text by unknown author. People wouldn't be able to create an aircraft. The aircraft flies without wings beating, which makes a huge difference comparing to all existing animals. Even ancient reptiles cannot fly like that. The aircraft could move much, much faster than any known animal. Inside an animal there's guts and blood, but inside the aircraft there are nice comfortable seats, air and even some food. The way the aircraft is created protects the people inside from otherwise fatal cold temperatures and low pressure. It is so complex that even the most genius person on the Earth would not be able to make it alone. And it's amazing how the sun reflects its body. Now let's think together - how could such a beautyful, reasonable and compelx thing be created by the people, who cannot fly themselves? I think, the answer is obvious - it cannot. Just think about it: the first aircraft like we know it was created less than 150 years ago, and the people occupy Earth more than two million years! There was definitely enough time to build an aircraft if they only could! They had even more iron, oil, aluminium, and quartz to build it than we have now. The brain of Cro-Magnon man has the same volume (and therefore thinking capability) as modern people have. So why the people didn't build an aircraft before? The answer is simple: even if thousands of people start throwing iron and aluminium in a pile, and pour it with oil, and do it for thousands of years, they will not create an aircraft. The conclusion is obvious: an aircraft was not build by humans, it's the creation of Higher Intelligence; we cannot understand it, and shall not even try. We shall only worship it, and the High Power which created it. * Don't pray for me if you wanna help - just send me a check. *

Everyone does. The only thing which is different what kind of evidence you need. You would probably have hard time to believe in Jesus if there were no Bible, for example - so even you need evidence to believe. And for you the Bible is part of the evidence. * Don't pray for me if you wanna help - just send me a check. *
