  1. Well, it could be said this way - it's just a movie, and they shouldn't care because I don't care. Then I don't understand all the fuss about Qur'an shooting - after all, it's just a book, and I don't care about it. Same if someone peed on crucifix, and uploaded it to the Internet - that's just a movie, right? Thus you're only respecting those skydivers who like everything you're doing (otherwise fuck 'em). * Don't pray for me if you wanna help - just send me a check. *
  2. Well, I could now say that it is somehow justified. I'm not commenting the movie itself, it's not worth it. I'm commenting the "who? they don't like it? fuck them" attitude shown by some fellow skydivers. If you don't respect others, you should not expect any respect either. * Don't pray for me if you wanna help - just send me a check. *
  3. Me too. But a lot of people can't - especially older people. In USSR I have never seen Pravda reviewing any movies. It was a purely political newspaper - you'd rather read there about segregation, children dying without health insurance, and amazing costs of medical school (which was free in USSR, like any other school). In USSR when the movie was banned, you'd never hear about it - you just wouldn't know such a movie has ever been released. Modern "Pravda", like modern Communist party, is just a piece of crap, a weak shadow of what was a backbone of a huge country. Still, "fuck them" is not something I would consider a reasonable response. * Don't pray for me if you wanna help - just send me a check. *
  4. We have our own movies involving the cold war. You wouldn't definitely like some of them :) * Don't pray for me if you wanna help - just send me a check. *
  5. Thank you. You're definitely making a good example of why so many people around the world are so concerned about America and Americans. Yes. In fact, 2nd and 3rd parts of "Rambo" was banned from USSR. And the reason you don't "remember" it is probably that nobody wrote about it on dropzone.com :P * Don't pray for me if you wanna help - just send me a check. *
  6. I do not have any ideals; I do not need them. Nor I need an imaginary character who would set ideals for me. Obviously. No matter what you do or don't do, there will be always a person who would not be OK with that - even if they're not directly affected. For example, a single fact that I don't give a shit about Lord and Saviour would not be OK with a lot of others. * Don't pray for me if you wanna help - just send me a check. *
  7. Yeah, even though this is one of four languages I could communicate in :) No. There is nothing which is utterly right, and there is nothing which is utterly wrong. Our value system is subjective, and tends to blame everyone else for our own problems - so what's "right" for you to do, might be "wrong" for someone else to do. Look at yourself - you probably don't like (or at least don't think it's right) when people come to your home trying to sell you something - but you have no problem with the same people who come to your home to tell you about Jesus - even though it's the same kind of distraction. Everyone knows where to buy stuff if they need to, and everyone knows where to learn more about Jesus if they need to. Again, it depends on the value system. If you look at the law as one of value systems, it's "right" as long as you're not caught, and even in this case you might be found not guilty. Unfortunately there is no known better system around. * Don't pray for me if you wanna help - just send me a check. *
  8. You need to compare apples to apples. Now you compare personal theoretical things with the /forceful/ implementation. I guess you wouldn't be happy if I compare free healthcare, guaranteed job and pension with Jonardo Bruno, burning people on stakes and multiple attemtps to start teaching creationism in public schools (that's what your "saving relationship with God" ends with). No, we will not agree even on that there is some Truth. We will not agree that even if there is Truth, it is possible to find it, and confirm that you found it. And obviously we will not agree that it is our duty. If you wanna help - better give me couple of bucks. * Don't pray for me if you wanna help - just send me a check. *
  9. On personal level a lot of people would agree that communism/KKK/third reich was a good idea, that it actually worked for them, and they talk to other communists/KKKs/reich members who share the same opinion. It doesn't mean, though, that this idea should now definitely be shared with others, or even worth something. Which is obvious, since if a person did not have similar introduction, you would not consider them Christian. It's similar to making a statement like "I only consider skydivers those who can fly headdown", and then saying that "every skydiver I've ever met could fly headdown". * Don't pray for me if you wanna help - just send me a check. *
  10. Sure. The fact someone came with an idea which looks great, and the fact the idea in theory is very good does not really mean it is doable, or even a good idea at all. So like with Christianity (which according to you started with the individual first coming to grips with the desperate condition of their soul), it does not mean that it is good, it is possible or even there is a soul at all. * Don't pray for me if you wanna help - just send me a check. *
  11. Communism started with the individual first coming to grips with the desperate condition of their life - which, unlike soul, was real and evident to anyone. And, like Christianity, the idea was great if you don't go into details (like who's gonna do septic tank cleaning). Unfortunately, no implementation of Communism ever worked. Seems like it's the same with Christianity. * Don't pray for me if you wanna help - just send me a check. *
  12. Well, the God may care less about whether there is reliable evidence of Shakespeare existence. But not with Jesus - the God, who (according to Christians) wants everyone to be saved following Jesus, should at least take a little care to make the evidence of Jesus existence obvious to anyone, not only to those who already believe in it, and therefore need no evidence at all. This is not at all difficult for an omnipotent and omniscent deity, so there must be a reason it hasn't been done. * Don't pray for me if you wanna help - just send me a check. *
  13. Are you saying that Zeus and Odin must be real, since they had been mentioned in even more than one book of mythology? Or this is another kind of "Jesus-specific" logic? * Don't pray for me if you wanna help - just send me a check. *
  14. But Jesus did not tell anyone directly that homosexuality was immoral. It is YOUR own interpretation; let's be clear about it. * Don't pray for me if you wanna help - just send me a check. *
  15. Well, those very liberal states of Kansas, Kentucky, Georgia and Alabama (they all are 16) definitely shine comparing to really conservative California and Arizona with 18. (And I found it really funny that someone could have a 16yo girlfriend in Nevada, but if they move to California, they cannot live together anymore. Those immoral Nevadians, you know). * Don't pray for me if you wanna help - just send me a check. *
  16. You might be surprised, but the age of consent (a legal definition of "is considered old enough for sex") set by law is 14 or less in Albania, Angola, parts of Austria, Bolivia (females only), parts of Brazil, Brunei, Bulgaria, Burkina Faso (the age is 13), Chile, China, Colombia, Croatia, Ecuador, Estonia, parts of Germany, Hungary, India (in Manipur), Italy, Liechtenstein, Lithuania, Mexico (some parts) Moldova, Montenegro, Nigeria (the age is 13), Paraquay (in marriage), Peru, Philippines (the age is 12!), Puerto Rico, Serbia, South Korea (the age is 13), Spain (the age is 13). Most of those countries, I'd say, are rather conservative, and not what you typically would call "without morals", thus invalidating your point completely. Actually, by looking on the table I'd say that only few countries have age of consent 18 or higher, and most of those countries are kinda weird, like Afganistan, Iraq and Tanzania; vast majority of the world has age of consent set at 16yo as well as most U.S. states. * Don't pray for me if you wanna help - just send me a check. *
  17. I guess it would take a while, because the gay population seems to be much larger than polygamist population. But nevertheless I do not see a lot of problems here as long as other issues (documentation, tax, inheritance, immigration) are solved or not touched. Again, ten people of consenting age could already live together in a family, and raise kids, so I see no problem if they want to have local government to have this fact documented. * Don't pray for me if you wanna help - just send me a check. *
  18. Same from the immigration law; they won't be able to sponsor their spouses for a Green Card. * Don't pray for me if you wanna help - just send me a check. *
  19. There is nothing written in the bible agains homosexual marriages. The bible prohibits homosexual _sex_, and sodomy laws have been repealed long time ago. * Don't pray for me if you wanna help - just send me a check. *
  20. The next logical step, I assume, should be another piece of similar stuff from shitty media. Expect to get another "breaking news" about the facility which cremates both war heroes and war fugitives on site using the same burner, disgrasing the heroes. The same facility might even cremage bodies of rapists, child molesters and drug dealers - how unappropriate should THAT be to our war heroes! Just wait until the crappy media suddenly have nothing to say about Paris Hilton, and you'll get it. And then we're not far away from having a separate facility for blacks and whites, Christians and atheists, etc. The old "would you let your daughter marry a nigger?" now becomes "do you want to be cremated on the facility which cremates member of a cult who rape children"? * Don't pray for me if you wanna help - just send me a check. *
  21. And you have never answered it. I cannot be deceived, since I do not believe in Jesus. There is no reason for Satan to deceive me from Jesus, as I'm not looking for Jesus. Which is not the case. The question asked was completely different. There is no reason to change anything just because you cannot answer a simple question. Believe me, you're not the first Christian I'm debating with, and you guys basically all talk the same way. Know what? I was _sure_ you would not answer this question. I do not believe in this. The question actually focused on the fact the family - like you - was sure they follow Jesus. And it ends like they did not. There is no reason to repeat a sermon ten times. The reason is not that we cannot understand what you say. The reason is that what you say doesn't answer the question, and this has been made pretty obvious. I'll repeat my statement in case someone would think you really answered it: This is a typical example of Christian deceitfulness. If you are sick, and praying to get healthy, but still die - Christians will tell you that you were putting God to test, and therefore this result is expected. However if you are sick, and praying to get healthy, and you got better - Christians will use it as example the prayer works, and therefore God exist. and let you think whether your reply is relevant or not. So now you're saying that everything depends on the will of the God, and you do not know the will of the God, and therefore nothing is predictable? This way following Jesus and "doing right things" will not lead you to Heaven. Your God might still want to put you in Hell, even though you lived a rightful life. And he could put a child molester into Heaven. Why, you ask? Because that was his will, and the God works in misterious ways. Basically if you follow "God works in misterious ways" you're saying that there is no reason to follow Christ. After all, you might be saved even if you don't, and you might not be saved even if you do, so why bother? Some are, that's true. But even if you're not, you still might be deceived. I could tell you what's wrong here. Hope is only good when you do not have anything else. I would not jump an unknown parachute in unknown condition just having a hope that is strengthened by a indescribable love recieved from faith in a man who gave his life for the glory of that love. I would not enter a skyscraper built by someone who built it with just a strengthened hope it won't fall down. The family in question also had a hope, and their hope was strengthened by a indescribable love recieved from faith in Jesus. Their hope failed them, like it failed a lot of people. I would like you to just answer the question directly, without involving sermons, Satan and love to Jesus. * Don't pray for me if you wanna help - just send me a check. *
  22. The situation there is not clear. I would definitely not rely on what Saakashvili says; too much politics. It was always on Victory Day during Soviet Union times. The military parade has never happen on May 1st (which is International Labor Day btw). Do you have any sources to cite? I have never heard Stalin being named or called a President. Always the Secretary General of the Communist Party of the USSR, that's whas the official title. AFAIR the first (and the last) President of USSR was Gorbachov. That's true. * Don't pray for me if you wanna help - just send me a check. *
  23. Why does he need miracles? Jesus needed it because he was recruiting (and that's what his followers were doing). Bhudda did not. Maybe "Bhudda" (which is in fact Buddha) didn't talk about it just because there is really no heaven, hell sin and satan? Please understand that you do not have any evidence that any of those exist, except some quotes from one old book, which has proven its incredibility and basically cannot be accepted as evidence. No evidence. Bullshit. There are more than 100 different religions based on the Bible. All of them have different way to salvation in Christ. There is no "the way", because even all Christians cannot agree on small things which make a difference. "The way" for Jehova Witnesses is different than "the way" for Eastern Orthodoxes - and both of them are Christians. And your point is meaningless, since in modern society EVERYONE already knows about Christ. And they know where they need to go if they want to learn more. The real reason is competiton. * Don't pray for me if you wanna help - just send me a check. *
  24. Why is it so difficult? The question was not about Iraq, nor it was about German during WWII. The question was, how was what that family believed different from what you believe. Are you saying it's not possible for you to answer it without irrelevant references? I am listening to what you are saying. Probably you need to go back and check what you said yourself. You already did it. This is a typical example of Christian deceitfulness. If you are sick, and praying to get healthy, but still die - Christians will tell you that you were putting God to test, and therefore this result is expected. However if you are sick, and praying to get healthy, and you got better - Christians will use it as example the prayer works, and therefore God exist. So praying to get out of illness is putting God to test. Praying to have some food for your family, or to protect your family members from crime is also putting God to the test. Most other things people are praying for are also putting God to test. What do you need your God for then? Well, when you have several people (not only me!) telling you that you basically did not reply the question at all, maybe the one should guess that the reason might be not that everyone else doesn't want to listen, but because the one cannot explain it meaningfully? What do you think? * Don't pray for me if you wanna help - just send me a check. *
  25. It's nice that you are trying to blame ME for a meaningful discussion, when in fact it's the opponent who was asked a simple question, and replied with a statement regarding Iraq... You should have read the posts sequence, since you're entering the loop again. We have a family, which definitely had more faith in Christ than most people around - they trusted Christ with the life of their child. It has been discussed before, and it was claimed by the opponent that the family in question was deceived. Same could happen to you - you think you accepted Jesus, while in fact you might be accepting Satan, who made you believe you accepted Jesus. Therefore you are not saved. Ever thought about it? * Don't pray for me if you wanna help - just send me a check. *
