No, not at all. But our bubbly little friend probably has a litany of excuses for Mr. Bill. - Harvey, BASE 1232 TAN-I, IAD-I, S&TA BLiNC Magazine Team Member

I completely concur. It would have happened under any administration and been a waste of tax dollars just the same. Everyone knew it going in...yet the trial proceeded. THAT is what pisses me off. - Harvey, BASE 1232 TAN-I, IAD-I, S&TA BLiNC Magazine Team Member

Yes. And it's who abused whom. Has nothing to do with camouflage in low light. That's just a cover story. And I was responding to the piece above it, as I quoted...about the state cops. Pay attention. - Harvey, BASE 1232 TAN-I, IAD-I, S&TA BLiNC Magazine Team Member

Nothing to do with martial law. Martial law involves the military. These are cops. You can't even follow your own thread. Frag out... - Harvey, BASE 1232 TAN-I, IAD-I, S&TA BLiNC Magazine Team Member

By yours and the bloggers' definition - it already happened. Katrina. Guess what...I was there too. And the local cops were damn glad, as were law-obiding citizens. THAT was very much martial law under your definition. Is it still there? No. If there was a massive breakdown of socail services nationwide (meaning no electricity, water, gas, cops, firemen, medical services), what would your solution be? When predators began taking over....who would you want there to help you? Because the military moves in and starts enforcing basic laws...you oppose that? - Harvey, BASE 1232 TAN-I, IAD-I, S&TA BLiNC Magazine Team Member

You are correct Bill...and your stated caveat is sound. Will it be attempted? Perhaps, but as I said about post-9/11, when people grow weary of it - regardless of administration - it will be curtailed. Not necessarily to everyone's liking, but well short of martial law. Plus - there are too many Officers like me who wouldn't allow it to happen. Jeanne: As for the secret military takeover America plans that you and the conspiracy bloggers are privy to - I must have been in the bathroom for that meeting at the War College. Damn. You MUST have been there though. How'd it go? Good coffee? I've been in this rod and gun club for nearly 20 years - in two branches. Special Operations, Intelligence, PsyOps, blah blah blah. I'm almost certain I would have heard that one float through. Newsflash - IF the secret round table, hand-wringing, evil right wing corporate titans running America DID have a plan to take over America... Who do you think they would be drilling to do it? Um...my guys. You're killing me with the secret plans shit. With your sources, maybe you should go before a Senate hearing. You might just save our society. Oy. - Harvey, BASE 1232 TAN-I, IAD-I, S&TA BLiNC Magazine Team Member

Why am I not surprised you read the conspiracy theory crap. Here's the thing...in order for all that super-secret Bush-Cheney take over the world, we actually did 9/11 to ourselves shit to work, our government would have to operate with machine-like efficiency and be able to hold state secrets from the press like a vault. Um, hello? We can't even issue passports - and the beltway leaks like a sieve. It's part of checks and balances. You still have no idea what a fascist is. You have convinced me of one democratic viewpoint: we DO need more money for schools. - Harvey, BASE 1232 TAN-I, IAD-I, S&TA BLiNC Magazine Team Member

You just outed yourself, again. No one on here with any historical knowledge whatsoever would compare anything in the US to Fascism. I showed the wiki link earlier - please go read it. There is, and will always be, too much resistance in the US to ever allow what the world knows as real Fascism. not your definition - the rest of the educated world's What we have is a GROUP of people (by definition NOT Fascism - again) who have an ideology that ain't quite working out. And people are unhappy. The Democrats will win in 08 as a result. And we will have another GROUP of people (again - NOT Fascism) who try to go in another direction, are blinded by greed, fall on their faces, and then we do the dance again. Throwing around such profound terms like fascism and naziism in American political discourse is like waving a huge banner reading "I am a moron" to educated Liberals and Conservatives alike. - Harvey, BASE 1232 TAN-I, IAD-I, S&TA BLiNC Magazine Team Member

There is no modern-day usage of nazi, except for the groups you point out. 1500 troops a month died at one point under Johnson in a war some say was purely because of defense contracts with Bell Helicopters. Does that make him a nazi? Uh, no sweetheart. It makes him a bad president. And there are certainly arguments to be made about the current one - many I would even agree with. It is just disgusting that there are some who resort to insulting an entire people because they are too stupid to make a valid point. Either party is willing to spill blood for money. No one has the market cornered on that one. So your argument is worthless. I openly voice distain for these groups, while you try to compare other Americans to them. And if I got orders tomorrow to go whack a million skinheads or klansman, I would lead the charge - trust me. Would do so smiling. You lack the bandwidth to meet me on the field of intellectual battle. You choose to lower yourself to that of the Coulters and the Frankens. That's how we differ...you STILL refuse to find anything wrong with applying the term "nazi" to a group of people, who, while you disagree with them, are eons from what a nazi is. Silence is approval. Most Germans sat silently while Jews were villified and murdered, even though they may not have agreed. Hmmm. Keep being silent... - Harvey, BASE 1232 TAN-I, IAD-I, S&TA BLiNC Magazine Team Member

Hmm...If someone espousing a conservative viewpoint came on here calling a liberal a nazi, I would figuratively disembowel them for being a dumbass with no valid ideas. Typically, however, the dearth of educated retort from the left renders you unable to raise your voice in protest when one of your ilk does the same. I will concede that prof. K, no matter how disjointed, makes the dialog fun due to his intellect. That would be a speaker's corner anomoly. Having said that, I have illusrated he primary turnoff of the left. - Harvey, BASE 1232 TAN-I, IAD-I, S&TA BLiNC Magazine Team Member
-
I just made my point. In the words of Ronald Reagan, "There you go again." I would never compare a Liberal to a Nazi. Even if Naziism is based on left-wing ideology. #1 - Because I have an education, and know the difference. #2 - It's an insult to their victims. #3 - I can make an educated argument without illustrating my lack of #1. Go ahead Kallend/Amazon, defend it. The term Nazi is derived from the first two syllables, as pronounced in German, of the official name of the German Nazi Party, the Nationalsozialistische Deutsche Arbeiterpartei. The Nazis rarely referred to themselves as Nazis, and instead used the official term, Nationalsozialisten (National Socialists). Nazi was a pejorative term used by opponents of the movement, especially in southern Germany, and mirrors the term Sozi, a common and slightly derogatory term for the Social Democratic Party of Germany (Sozialdemokratische Partei Deutschlands),[9] the Nazis' main opponents before obtaining power. When Hitler took power, the use of Nazi almost disappeared from Germany, although it was still used by opponents in Austria. - Harvey, BASE 1232 TAN-I, IAD-I, S&TA BLiNC Magazine Team Member

I'm an equal opportunity picker-onner, it varies with subject. On this one...I dislike them both. On some I dislike libs, others, trust-fund conservatives. Which suddenly reminds me....the largest private power consumer in ID is the Kerry-Heintz estate. Yup...party of the people. Which seperates me from most liberals, like Hitler-labeling liberals, who just say what they heard on Air America instead of making up their own minds. Start a thread and take your chances, that's what I say. - Harvey, BASE 1232 TAN-I, IAD-I, S&TA BLiNC Magazine Team Member

You don't agree with me...you must be Hitler. My Israeli colleagues would pimp slap anyone who compared Bush to Hitler - whether they liked Bush or not. If you can't keep the dialog educated - don't join it. - Harvey, BASE 1232 TAN-I, IAD-I, S&TA BLiNC Magazine Team Member
