*** Nor did the kid look like he did any beating. Not to sound violent, but if I punched someone in the nose,I would probably have no injuries on my fist at all.I could most likely bust most peoples jaw with no injury to my fist. I know this from past experience, when I was a dumbass teenager(more prone to fight than rational). Now if you were to drop your chin and tuck your head forward and I drilled you hard in the forehead, then it would most likely cause damage and pain to my hand. If you have a young, strong and fit individual, they can give out alot of punishment with little or no damage to themselves.

*** I've been seeing a lot of TI's using BDU's since you can get them at a surplus store for next to nothing.Quote If you get them in digital camo you can almost achieve invisibility.

If you are around something that can kill you,it would be smart to know where you are in relation to it at all times. As far as being stupid, stupid is as stupid does. I know,I've been guilty of being stupid, usually when booze was involved, but not always. How about you? Remember to check your 6. yawn................................snore................................................. scratching sound...............snore.....................

So you do not believe that the spinning propeller on the airplane would be considered common knowlege in our modern 21st century society here in the USA. I could see an argument for somone from a primitive society without any experience of modern 21st century technology like AIRPLANES. I do feel bad for the girl, but she still did something pretty dumb. All the people who have walked into a spinning prop with the knowlege of said prop(pilots, skydivers, mechanics, adults raised in modern societies,ect....) are guilty of an act of stupity. To expect someone else to pay for your act of stupidity is stupid. But I guess here in the USA this has become the way things are done. You can even sue someone because you eat to much junk and you are obese, because the food taste so good you could'nt muster the self control to stop eating it. The coffee was hot and I burned myself when I dumped it in my crack,it's your fault so I'm going to sue you.
-
***Its about as dumb as people killing themselves under open canopies, huh! QuoteYep,that sure sounds dumb. I have to say though that I have spanked the dirt a few times myself. I was lucky enough to limp away with my ego receiving the brunt of the punishment. I sure felt like a dumbass. I think walking into a spinning prop would take it to the next level of dumbass.

***This is often a defensive mechanism,a way of saying "this can't happen to me" You have me all wrong dude. I am human, and humans do stupid things. I have done some ultra stupid stuff as a teen and I'm sure that if I live long enough,I will do more stupid stuff. This being said,it does not matter how good or smart you are or were. If you walk into a spinning prop,I and many others would call you an idiot, because it is really stupid to walk into a spinning prop. I hope I never walk into one, because I would really look like a dumbass. Wait, hang on,I would be a dumbass for walking into a spinning prop.

Can anything be learned from this video?

***"I think this is a case of a jumper being prepared for the best case scenario, not the worst" I think you hit it square on the head on this one. -
I do not care how you try to make excuses for an adult walking into a spinning prop, unless you are blind or incapacitated in some other fashion, it is pretty stupid. Some people are saying that you can't see a spinning prop and it's true you can't,but I can't see the air I'm breathing either, but I know it's there. If you do something stupid and get messed up or mess up someone else, then it is your fault, and if anyone pays for it,it should be you. Trying to sue for being a dumbass seems to be acceptable nowdays. Paople burning their crotch because the hot coffee was hot,and then blaming someone else for being careless. Walking into spinning props because you are not thinking about what you are doing, walking off the subway platform because you are not paying attention. Why should people be rewarded for acts of stupidity? I mean,if that were the case,I would have been a billionaire by the end of my teenage years.

Good point. It could happen to anyone, and is more likely when complacency becomes a factor. It seems a person would be more cautious when less familiar with a dangerous situation though. The 1st time I flew,it was in a huey when I was a forest fire fighter. Good times!

Are you trying to make me believe that it would be absolute pitch black next to a running aircraft sitting on a paved runway,on an airport, just because it is night time. Do aircraft not have alot of lights on them at night? Do airports have complete black outs when aircraft are landing? Maybe I've missed something, but I could have sworn that even the small municipal airports are lit up like small towns. And even if most people were unfamiliar with the situation,I would hope most would have enough common sense to know the prop is spinning on the front of the small proppeller driven airplane, wether you can see it or not. Maybe I am wrong, and most people are without common sense. You are right though about comparing the train to the spinning prop. I think it could be easier to step in front of a train in a big, noisey, busy, bustling city where evryone is running around in a rush to get where they need to be, and letting their gaurd down because they are in a familiar everday environment where complacency is most likely very common. But it is still a pretty stupid thing, stepping in front of speeding train, and so is walking into a spinning prop.

***it was purely self defense on Tyson's part.QuoteThats some good sarcasm. At least I think it is sarcasm, right? I apoligise for being unable to tell for sure,I've not had my 3 cups of tar yet this morning.
-
***There is nothing' natural' about a spinning propQuoteThere is nothing natural about a speeding train either, but I still know it would be a bad idea to jump in front of one(unless you want to end it all). And yet people get hit by trains alot, because THEY ARE STUPID! You can call me an asshole if you want, but walking into a spinning prop is pretty stupid. As far as all the pilots who walk into spinning props, well you do not have to be a genius to be a pilot, but a crap load of money definitley helps. Problem is,money can not fix stupid,at least not with present medical technology.

***"New black panthers party"placing a $10,000.00 bounty on a US citizen.....QuoteRight! What would the feds do if any other group(Mafia, aryan brotherhood, the elks, the sons of norway, yakima indian nation, ect ect ect...)made a public announcement of a bounty on anyone(white, black, asian, ect ect ect...)? We should be hearing news of the feds knocking down the doors of the panther lair if they were being fair and impartial and doing the job without bias.

***This, and I would most likely call 911.QuoteIf I thought the guy was a real threat and I was scared for my life, hell yes, I would say thats a good reason to bug the cops.

You said that I would probably defend myself if an armed stranger approached me. Only if they attacked me up close. If I knew they were armed and at a distance,I would most likely run in a zig zag trying to make a hard to hit target while looking for cover. But I'm not 17 any more and I'm less prone to aggresive responses and have also learned years ago that I'm not invincibal. Some people have asked what if Zimmerman had his gun out and was on Trayvon? I think that scenario would be unlikely, since when using a firearm, you would want to keep a good distance from the other person to prevent them from touching you(taking away the weapon or stabbing or punching you) and why would someone attack a person with a gun pointing at them. If you are pointing a gun at someone, why would you let them break your nose and then beat your head on the concrete? Really!
-
I cant believe you are asking why Zimmerman would follow a strange character in the area at night. If you see someone out of place in your area,at night, why would you not be currious about it? If the area has a watch program in effect,it usually means they have a crime problem. Since when is it a crime to keep an eye on suspiscious characters? I would keep an eye on someone strange in my area, since I've been the victim of car prowlers. I would not shoot anyone for a car stereo, but I would shoot them if they attacked me in the dark while I was keeping an eye on them.

How I react to situations now at age 49,and how I reacted at age 17,are vastly different. At age 17, I was far less understanding and patient as I am now at age 49. Lets face it,teens tend to have alot less self control in every aspect than they will achieve as they grow older, wiser, and less hormonal. Teens exhibit bad judgement on a regular basis and tend to have a bit of a chip on the shoulder. Now,I'm not saying this is the case with the shooting, but what if the teen did turn and attack with a fury driven by teenage angst. When I was a teenager,it was not uncommon for kids to go off on someone over something that was of no real importance, simply because they felt disrespected. It seems that kids today have less respect for others, yet demand more respect from others than ever before, and this has nothing to do with race. In recent years so called good kids have commited very bad acts against others with no regard to the safety of others (The kids who dropped the shopping cart on the woman in the mall parking complex, ect, ect, ect) It is not inconcievable that a 17 year old would turn and attack someone(not knowing they had a gun) if they were feeling a little pissed off. I'm pretty sure a teen would not try to fight someone if they thought they might get shot. Just because you are a minor,do's not give you the right to do harm to others, and a 17 year old could kill an adult without any weapons other than hands and shoe clad feet.

If someone was tailing me at night,I would keep an eye and ear on them, and try to get somewhere I felt more secure. I would not confront,or start any kind of interaction with a percieved threat until being physically assaulted by a threat. Why would you attack a guy who was following you at night if he had not made a physical assault upon you. I am white, blue eyed, blonde haired, and have been stopped and questioned many times by both police and concerned citizens while I've been walking late at night. I often walk late at night to take in the night air and stretch my legs a bit. When I've been questioned by those who find my presence to be out of the ordinary or suspiscious,I completely understand where they are coming from, and try to let them know that I'm no threat and do not get offended at all by their curiosity. In fact,I thank them for being observant and taking an interest in something out of the ordinary in the area,as it may also help me if I were to be hit by a car or attacked by a bad guy while walking at night. If you are out of place, you should expect to be scrutinized by the locals. If I thought someone was after me,I would not turn and approach them. What if they had a knife or a GUN!!!

Yes,when we talk about well conditioned athletes, size is a huge factor. But what if one individual is 250lbs of lard without any speed, agility,or real strength. The other is lean, fast, and aggresive, with a good power to weight ratio? The poorly condition pile of lard will most likely get his ass handed to him. Just saying
-
Ha ha ha ha ha! Yeah,I grew up in a tough area, but back in 1977, not many folks would start a fight and then pull a gun when they were loosing. Bottom line is,no one really knows what the facts are in this case. Alot of folks keep bringing up the size and age of the two,and the race. If there is hard evidence that this was not self defense, but a hate crime, then the shooter should be punished, plain and simple. But to assume that a teenager is incapable of causing harm or even death to an adult is absurd.
-
Not saying this shooting was justified or not,but people keep bringing up the body weight of the kid being only 140lb like there are no 140lb guys out there who can lay down any damage to anyone else. I used to get in a few scraps when I was younger and I have seen some damn tough guys who were less than 140lb. I am 6' 225-230lb,and I have a friend who is 5'6" and 135-140lb who I would not want to mess with unless I had no other way out, because there is most likely gonna be some blood and contusions involved,(probably on both of us). Anyone who has been around knows that size is not everything. And since when is a teenager a little kid. I personaly beat the shit out of a 32 year old man when I was 15 years old. Just saying!

I just want to thank you for making the case for all of our freedoms that many would have us give up for a false sense of safety. As far as our right to bear arms go's,our founding fathers wrote this into the constitution not only to protect us from each other, but so the people could defend against a tyrannical government that might try to repress the people and the other freedoms that our constitution is written to protect. I myself like being free, even if there could be some risk from those who might use our freedoms to hurt us.

How is he bones? He's dead Jim!

Would you not catch that on a gear check? With non sigma you have to check the rings and cables along with the loop. You should always do a good gear check prior to donning the rig(Harness,AAD,three ring release, rsl, reserve cable pin and closing loop, handles, drogue release system, bridle routing, main pin and closing loop).Did I miss anything?
-
!00% right on ,if the instructor pulled the realease or left the handle floating on exit(lack of handles check prior to exit).
