Dont forget the count for your videot on the outside. I myself hate to see any count it screws me up, I prefer to go when the team goes. But I like to see a shake so I know its coming, I hold on the handle with two hands until the shake and then drop low as possible and drop the other hand off the handle to get ready to exit. Then I just go with the team. The one thing I have learned is no matter what combination of people you have with a 4way team you will never get the same count from all 4 of them, and counts don't always come from the same person everytime. Some people just have no rythm. So for video your not in the group and its real hard to feel what they are doing. Anyway other than me, I am sure your videograper would love to see a count of some sort, especially when he is just starting out. If you ever get the chance of letting me shoot video for you (lol like I can get rid of you) just give a good shake. Oh yeah this isnt a video thread its a Point turner thread. But the point I was trying to make to anyone that can actually learn something from this post is, its not only the 4 of you that is looking at the count, so make sure it is clear, and defined. And make sure you do the same thing everytime. From a Videot's view the difference between a team with good exits and bad exits is definite consistency with the count and the exit. If people are exiting early with the count or late its not good, and a clear count can make all the difference between a funnel a great exit and a possible NJ. Remember there is 5 people in your team. Oh yeah and the Went like hell on "go" thing yeah do that it works great! Ray Small and fast what every girl dreams of!

I will take a chance and say that Tandem mains have the highest percentage of having a mal. Just canopy mals, were not going into the malfunction tree of tandem jumping here. The reason has nothing to do with the manufacturer or design, more of a fact of there is a lot of line and a lot of material so the chance of something happening there is increased. Tension knots and lineovers, not so much line twists. That said, tandem Mal's are a lot milder and if you have something like a line twist or a lineover you have a greater chance of clearing it than with a tiny canopy. But line twists are a lot easier to have with a smaller canopy. So tandems have the tension knot and linover happening advantage, and the tiny elliptical has the line twist happening advantage. Even though all are possible on all canopies there is a bigger chance with the different canopies. So tandem mal 2-1 over small main mal. But clearing a small main mal definite disadvantage, anyone that has had a nasty spinner under a sub 100 canopy will testify that they wished they had had a huge main above them at that time instead. So the answer to your question is, the chance of having a cutaway is probably even, with whatever canopy you jump. Pack neat as possible, take care of your line stows and make sure you put it in the container cleanly and hope for the best. But I can say I have done the worst pack jobs of my life with a spectre 170 (first pack jobs) and it always opened wonderfully. Ray Small and fast what every girl dreams of!

All I know is if they hand you some kind of patch and tell you to suck out whats in it. DONT DO IT!!! Patches are meant to be worn and not sucked, but Red Bull works a couple of hours later to help wake you up when your foaming at the mouth asleep in an opiate coma. Not from personal experience of course a "Friend" told me about it. But I think it is called Phentenol so everyone will know to stay far away from it if they feel like sucking patches. One of the things I like best about the vector pin as opposed some other designs, the cable is pulled entirely through the channel, so that there is cable coming out of both sides of the pin hole before it is swaged. This ensures that the cable is completely in the channel. After swaging it is trimmed and the end hole is filled. With other pin designs you cant be sure that the cable is entirely in the channel, it can move. Relative Workshop isn't the only company that uses this method, and there has been no instances of a pin failing because the cable moved when being assembled with the other pin design, but its an added piece of mind I like to have. Nationals Canopy Piloting Scores
Rdutch replied to freeflybella's topic in Swooping and Canopy Control
Good luck, with Uspa if it isnt 4way its unimportant, as well as with Omniskore ect (disclaimer: Omniskore had nothing to do with the canopy piloting scoring they posted the scores that were posted out of kindness). But 4way is the big show all else takes a back seat at Natonals. Heck I competed and I still dont know how I did on each round. As far as everyone that was involved with the canopy piloting they did a great job considering it was a first time for it. Ray Small and fast what every girl dreams of! -

All that proves is that either Men or Women Lie about it. It takes two to tango so if 43% of the men have sex on the first date, then 43% of the women have to also. So one isnt being that honest or maybe they just asked the right men/women with that percentage group. A great example on how statistics are flawed and dont mean shit. Tell your friends too, remember this is kind of a Test to see how many people want to compete in a 9 cell class. No Competitors, No Competition! Ray Small and fast what every girl dreams of!

Agreed. Chris, what about an "incentive bonus" for the pilots. Say a 10ft gate that they get additional score for if they hit it? That way you can still score them, but encourage them to hit the gates. Just thinking out loud.

The Nj is shorter and fatter and wider, the 306 is longer and skinnier and narrower. Ray Small and fast what every girl dreams of!

What's the biggest speeding ticket you've ever gotten?
Rdutch replied to unformed's topic in The Bonfire
When I was 16 I got 160 in a 25, but I beat it in court. We used to race behind Homestead AFB and to combat that the cops changed all the speed limit signs from 55 to 25, and then sat in the bushes with a camcorder and a radar gun. They filmed us all day and I had just gotten my Gsxr1100 back from getting its frame modified and swingarm extended, It already had a shitload of engine work. I was the only person that did a high speed run by setting up half a mile back before the course and blew through there at 160. Five minutes later 20 cops sealed us off and started calling out tag numbers. I got field arrested and released, I dont remember exactly how big the ticket was but it was $4 for every Mph over the speed limit so that was $540 but it was a lot more than that. I paid the ticket but in court the case was dismissed because of the unlawful speed limit sign change, and another technicality (god I love good lawyers). I got a call from the clerk of the court two weeks later for me to come and pick up my check. Unfortunately my grandma paid the ticket so I had to give her the check Ray Small and fast what every girl dreams of! -

Dont forget the Deland Mojo tunnel camps. Ray Small and fast what every girl dreams of! -
http://www.bird-man.com/?n=News&id=598 Not to be mixed up, there will be big ways along with a basic skills camp in Deland. December 3,4,5. Jumpers of all levels are invited to attend. The intent is to bring everyones skill levels up, and have a lot of fun. Those that show they can play safely will be invited to fly in some really big slot specific formations. While bird people that already have the skill will be starting immediately with the big way fun, those that want to learn can join in on the smaller flocks. ScarryPerry has also agreed to come play and add his teaching/coaching ability. See you all there. Ray Small and fast what every girl dreams of!

Heres a good example, this one almost killed the student because of the RSL. I.M.O I think Collins lanyard should be mandatory with an RSL especially with students. This is a recent pic. Ray Small and fast what every girl dreams of!

We shut down today for him, I got to see a private plane that didnt know take off about 5 minutes before air force one flew in, and within a minute an F15 came in at warp speed and got on his ass, then ten minutes later my friend Teddy came in from atlanta in an otter and he said he got an escort from an irate f16 pilot. Said he heard the whole f15/182 talk and it wasn't too polite. The best day we have had in 6 months, you can see both coasts and there is no wind, and the first time I wanted to fun jump in forever and we have to sit on the ground. At least the day wasnt a total loss, we still have a bar at the dz. Ray Small and fast what every girl dreams of!

I used to get a hot sausage and a Chocolate milk every time we left the club, but my friends banned me from doing that, it gave me the worst farts. But nothing tastes better than a firecracker sausage with chocolate milk, especially when your tastebuds are destroyed from a night of Jager and beer. Ray Small and fast what every girl dreams of!

Im working on a video, and the only music in my collection is rock, metal or Flamenco. So I was wondering what songs you guys think would go best with swooping. I dont care what style of music, just something that sounds good and mixes in with it. Ray Small and fast what every girl dreams of!

US Nationals, so what did you think, how did you do?
Rdutch replied to Rdutch's topic in Photography and Video
So there was a lot of new cameramen to Nationals this year, as is every year. In the interest of all next years cameramen, please post your experiences so that everyone has an idea on what to look forward to, expect, and maybe pick up some helpful hints/tips based on that. I remember my first Nationals, it was an awesome experience and learned a lot, now Im on year 6 for Nationals the feeling is still the same, I still enjoy every minute of it, especially after a years worth of training with a team. I think this year made such a good point that a cameraman is definitely a huge part of the team, there was a lot of teams final results decided by the Cameraman this year. I'll start: This year was definitely the worst as far as Camera steps/handles, you couldn't get any more different between planes with the set up. Most humorous thing was the meet director determined that all the planes were identical as far as the camera step. Lucky my team jumped all the planes before competition so I had an Idea what to expect but still had to improvise each round. Round 1 we jumped the Arizona otter and I literally fell off the step when I exited. I use two hands until I see the shake then I drop one hand and hang as low and as far as possible, unfortunately It was hard to grip that handle with only 2 fingers and slipped, but it was the same time my team exited so it worked out. After that is was an uneventfull meet, I scored 0 Nj's and overall was pretty happy with my work minus round 1's exit which was a 10th of a second too early. I was glad to see that after a whole year of training different things for 12's I ended up doing nothing and it worked out great (do a search on 12's if you dont know or Pm Quade) I had fun meeting a lot of the Dz.com people that I knew from here but not in person. A lot of people took the time to come introduce themselves and say hello and I want to thank all of them, it was a pleasure. Nationals is a lot of fun, and I would like to encourage all of you that are thinking of doing a team this year to do it. So what was your experience this year? And what was your overall thought on Nationals, most of all what did you learn? Ray Small and fast what every girl dreams of! -

I'm going to skyquest but Im filming 4way, me and Pete Alum are going to do Team Speed if they let us and we have time. Also with Flcpa and World cup I plan on being very poor so its financially impossible for me to attend. This Swooping thing is more expensive than a wife! Yeah Jim Jumped it for Nationals, Looked good to me, and the Openings I saw were nice. I doubt Icarus would release a new Xbraced canopy if it wasn't a lot better, there isnt any money in it. Ray Small and fast what every girl dreams of! -

What a great showing for Icarus's new canopy. A little birdie said that they will be available to the public in January, I think they are going with the name V2. And after watching it open from the plane I can say that it opened great. Ray Small and fast what every girl dreams of!
