help needed making sense of used gear listings

i am currently searching for used gear. and though i find many listings that include the heigth and weight of the person the container was made for and the size range of canopies that will fit in it. then i see things like: C18, W4, V310, 15/15, and 17.5/15.5+.5+1. and i have no idea what that means. if anyone could shed some light on this or direct me to a post with more info if this has been discussed before i'd greatly appreciate it. also are there any other of my measurment specs i should know besides heigth and weight that would help me in looking for gear? diamonds are a dawgs best friend -
a boogie is basically it's a bunch of skydivers getting together to do what we love-- JUMP. it may include some or all of the following: toy jumps, costume jumps, big ways and scrambles. additional and/ or speciality aircraft to jump from. manufacturers and sponsors with gear to demo. one thing they definately all have in common is nightly bonfires with skydivers sharing stories and BEER. diamonds are a dawgs best friend

my first jump was on my birthday with 2 of my best friends. i wanted to do an aff 1st jump as opposed to a tandem, and skydive houston was the closest that offered aff 1st jump. the good vibe and cool people are what's kept me going back. plus SDH being only 20 mins. away dosen't hurt either. diamonds are a dawgs best friend

i'd gladly rent if there are enough rental rigs available, having never been to a boogie i don't know what the rental situation is. what i am tyring to "side-step" is being a new jumper with gear fever and buying one of the first used rigs i can afford just to have my own rig for a boogie. i know of two newer jumpers who have bought gear very soon after graduating and have since said they wish they had demoed more gear before buying. i'm just wanting to gather as much info as i can in my quest for gear. thanks for the replies! diamonds are a dawgs best friend

i am wanting to know about demoing at boogies. do canopy companies have complete rigs to demo with or do you have to bring a container and have them put a canopy in it? similarly do container comapnies have complete rigs or do you need to bring a canopy to put in thier container? is it all 1st. come 1st. serve or is ther a way to get on a list to scheduel a demo prior to the start of the boogie? for how long or how many jumps are you usually allowed to demo the gear? hypothetically: if you're deoming gear and you buddy wants to buy you a chopper jump, will it be okay to jump with the demo gear or will the manufacturer frown on you doing that? finally, what does it usually cost to demo gear at boogies? diamonds are a dawgs best friend

"stand up landings have more to do with how high you are off the ground when you start your flare and how fast or slow you preform a complete flare stroke. than they do with the "style" of the flare." this is what i was told by an experienced jumper after asking a similar question to yours, while we were talking about a rough landing i had. diamonds are a dawgs best friend

many moons ago after hearing "Tom Sawyer" on a rock radio station (KMOD in Tulsa). i went to buy "Moving Pictures". when i asked what other of thier albums the record store guy would recommend, he pointed me toward "2112". for the next 2 weeks i think i only listened to "Moving Pictures" 6 or 7 times and listened to "2112" 15 or 20. diamonds are a dawgs best friend

kill is a rather strong word but i can't wait till i have my own gear. i can get way better at packing and at $5 a pack that's a jump for me for every 4 packs i have to pay for. diamonds are a dawgs best friend

when i was growing up in ok. it was pop. now i just say the name brand of what i'm drinking or offering to someone. unless it's root beer or cream soda- i'll just say "root beer" or "cream soda". diamonds are a dawgs best friend

i want to be donated to science and then have my remains cremated. part of my ashes will be kept in a Jager bottle by my 2 best friends whom i have a pact with. i'll be doing the same for them if they go before me. and i want part of my ashes dumped into a bonfire as my jump freinds toast my memory. the rest can be kept by whoever in my family wants them. diamonds are a dawgs best friend -
