  1. Sorry you see my comment as being 'snide.' That wasn't its purpose - although I can understand your point of view in this matter. The implication was in regards to guns and crime within the civil populace. I didn't write the statement to provoke a slagging match though. Ask anyone!
  2. No need to mention those examples. First, I would suggest you tone down you condescending comments about America, then, check about the great UK contribution to the middle east after WWI and WWII. Should I remind you the whole Palestine fiasco and how poorly it was handled, and how this issue is very alive today? Well, I am aware of the UK's historical 'contributions' and how badly they relate to current problems in Iraq and Afghanistan. But my post wasn't designed to generate criticism of old British foreign policy, neither was it my intention to begin a UK/US slagging match. That wouldn't achieve anything would it? My intention was simply to point out underlying cultural issues in their regards to gun control in the US. Of course, I could be equally critical in certain aspects of British underlying cultural issues, but that's not the point in this thread, is it? 'for it's Tommy this, an' Tommy that, an' "chuck 'im out, the brute!" But it's "saviour of 'is country" when the guns begin to shoot.'
  3. Pigskin? 'for it's Tommy this, an' Tommy that, an' "chuck 'im out, the brute!" But it's "saviour of 'is country" when the guns begin to shoot.'
  4. I believe the problems as a majority stem from poor and indisciplined schooling. As simple as that. 'for it's Tommy this, an' Tommy that, an' "chuck 'im out, the brute!" But it's "saviour of 'is country" when the guns begin to shoot.'
  5. Or Scotland, 'Scotchland?' 'for it's Tommy this, an' Tommy that, an' "chuck 'im out, the brute!" But it's "saviour of 'is country" when the guns begin to shoot.'
  6. His lack of ability to differentiate could be likened to a child prodding an ant nest with a stick..... 'for it's Tommy this, an' Tommy that, an' "chuck 'im out, the brute!" But it's "saviour of 'is country" when the guns begin to shoot.'
  7. Yeah, come over John - I'd be delighted to show you around. Apply for a passport and when you've squared that away, give us a shout. 'for it's Tommy this, an' Tommy that, an' "chuck 'im out, the brute!" But it's "saviour of 'is country" when the guns begin to shoot.'
  8. Probably not that significant. The population as a whole is increasing rapidly so it would only be expected for the number of migrants to increase accordingly. Still - it's a common conversational topic. Why put up with all the numerous problems when you could go abroad to a sunnier climate. You might not escape the problems but at least the weather will be nice!
  9. The UK! It's the UK! Scotland, Wales, Northern Ireland and England. Anyway, it's fairly obvious why so many people are leaving - we're overpopulated. And new immigrants are flooding in, despite official figures making the population increase seem less dramatic. Ask the man on the street. Our house prices are beyond a joke. Too many people for too little houses. The politicians talk of building numerous houses, inevitably on green belts, to alleviate this problem. But the only people who'll benefit are first time buyers - it won't happen - economically for the housing sector it can't. Traffic issues - again, stemming from too many people owning cars, that the roads, cities and towns weren't designed to cope with. Obviously we have street's designed over a hundred years ago, sometimes more, and they can only be modernised and widened so much. Even the fairly modern motorways were not designed to cope with such a mass of traffic. We're a nation of similiar landmass to New Zealand, except we have a population of 60 million+ whilst their pop. is around 4 million. The older generations sometimes comment how much we have these days, such as 2 cars per household, regular holidays abroad, widescreen plasma TV's, dishwashers, and so on. People do have so much more - but a collective individual debt of over a trillion pounds to go with it. We're a nation of utter wage slaves with the majority going to bed every night in tiny damp houses with money worries. Too many rats in this race - why tolerate huge mortgages, rip off high street prices, rip off council taxes, man, even rip off taxes on cigerettes and beer. In comparison of prices with other european countries we are getting the rather pricier end of the deal. It's not as if the weathers any good - it's utter shite. It's difficult to even tell which season it is these days. No wonder so many people are getting upside down on alcohol come Friday and Saturday nights and kicking lumps off each other. Need we even talk about drugs? Our hospitals are riddled with MRSA to the point I'd seriously consider refusing invasive surgery and taking my chances with whatever ailment I have. Thats if there is even a bed available and I haven't already died. Almost every week we have dead bodies being flown into the country from Iraq and Afghanistan yet the Beckhams dominate the news. They only moved from Spain to America. Still - these days, I guess that's what people really want to see - filthy rich people. Their idols, their Gods. Continually we hear of criminals with more rights than the victims - still, is it any wonder? Our jails are at bursting point. To save money we've allowed the many 'crazies' who should be under constant supervision to walk the streets and live at home. And let your children out at your's and their peril, what with the playgrounds habited by junkies who discard their used needles there at night, and the teenage hoodies who hang around there in the day. That's if they avoid being snatched. Terrifying. So of course people are tempted, pushed even, to see what it's like on the other side. Where ever the other side may be. I've yet to find it. But I'm sure one day I will. Because that's my little piece of hope for a less miserable life I'll have by staying here. Yor 'Big Brotherisms' aren't the issue John. 'for it's Tommy this, an' Tommy that, an' "chuck 'im out, the brute!" But it's "saviour of 'is country" when the guns begin to shoot.'
  10. At the end of the day we could still be slagging off each and every nation. End of the day? Week/month/world - it doesn't matter. Why not discuss the mistakes in foreign policy we're still making to this day? Edit: Are these errors in a relationship with current underlying cultural issues? 'for it's Tommy this, an' Tommy that, an' "chuck 'im out, the brute!" But it's "saviour of 'is country" when the guns begin to shoot.'
  11. That's amazing - for fear of being called a liar, I kept the fact secret I employ Elvis as a gardener. He sings to my roses.
  12. Maybe it's simply; America (and her supporters) wish to remain, if not increase, their power and influence throughout the world. It's the moral aspects that bother me, from the lies and hypocracy amidst all the thousands upon thousands of deaths, to the whole reasons for the lies in the first place. Who wants to die for a lie? 'for it's Tommy this, an' Tommy that, an' "chuck 'im out, the brute!" But it's "saviour of 'is country" when the guns begin to shoot.'
  13. I kind of figured it doesn't matter whether he's alive or dead in the grand scheme of things. I do wonder what the grand scheme of things are though. Hope your boy keeps safe. 'for it's Tommy this, an' Tommy that, an' "chuck 'im out, the brute!" But it's "saviour of 'is country" when the guns begin to shoot.'
  14. Isolationism is simply going from one extreme to the other - and doesn't provide any solutions. What positive areas of foreign policy America has achieved throughout the world wasn't the point. The point was cultural issues - both at home and abroad. These relate far more to what's happening internationally than to gun control in itself. Tell Dave the helmets main role for the pilots was to allow them to communicate as the headsets were built into them. 'for it's Tommy this, an' Tommy that, an' "chuck 'im out, the brute!" But it's "saviour of 'is country" when the guns begin to shoot.'
  15. Here's a link to the article: http://www.thefirstpost.co.uk/index.php?menuID=2&subID=942&WT.srch=1 Would his confirmed death actually be of any significance on the 'war on terror?' I doubt it. Perhaps this much older article from the Washington post explains dealing with one aspect; http://www.washingtonpost.com/wp-dyn/content/article/2006/08/11/AR2006081101399.html But ultimately, some hard rethinking has to be done to achieve the goals our Western Governments are chasing. Wish I knew what they were though...... Anyone got an idea? 'for it's Tommy this, an' Tommy that, an' "chuck 'im out, the brute!" But it's "saviour of 'is country" when the guns begin to shoot.'
  16. Source: CFIF.org This is quite a good argument - I'll come away from voting though, through lack of decent choice. The reason it's a good article is the simple conclusion; '...is that violent crime rates are determined instead by underlying cultural factors.' Now people may see that's justification to prevent a gun ban. More importantly, others may see it as the reason there should be a gun ban. Perhaps not in culturally advanced countries, but in America? Definently. For all the numerous great things about America, it's cultural issues where the nations gun control problems stem. That's the area that should be addressed. Gun control is simply the tip of the iceberg. Need I mention examples from Afghanistan and Iraq to reiterate my point? 'for it's Tommy this, an' Tommy that, an' "chuck 'im out, the brute!" But it's "saviour of 'is country" when the guns begin to shoot.'
  17. From my UK perspective, having a stressed out controller when your in dodgy IMC conditions and running out of fuel certainly raises the heart rate. Having an arsey one with 'attitude' is even worse. I'm only commenting because I experienced this recently. Eventually breaking out of a cloudbase at 250ft AGL (my Decision Height at this location was 200ft) on a PAR with not enough fuel to overshoot through being fucked about, it turned out I was so relieved to see the ground I forgot all about going up to the tower for a chest poking session.
  18. A police spokesman has just released the names of the two detained suspects: Ahmed al-Laurel and Muhammad al-Hardy See pic: 'for it's Tommy this, an' Tommy that, an' "chuck 'im out, the brute!" But it's "saviour of 'is country" when the guns begin to shoot.'
  19. Relax! I'm not a conspiracy nutter. I find David Shayler to be of high entertainment value. Besides, it's quite apparant you'd have to be a fruit loop to take the man seriously. You said: 'Tell us why after this has already been pointed out to you in other threads are you still presenting the same hackneyed conspiracy shit?' For the entertainment value. Although I'm now feeling guilty for trolling. Oh dear. 'for it's Tommy this, an' Tommy that, an' "chuck 'im out, the brute!" But it's "saviour of 'is country" when the guns begin to shoot.'
  20. Yes, but have you any evidence to the contrary? Anyway, have a look at this, David Shayler, MI5 Whistle blower; http://video.google.com/videoplay?docid=-5403286136814574974 Blimey.
  21. Vandals and Visigoths were barbarians. Barbarian, noun: Originally from the Greek for foreigners, meaning those who spoke an unintelligible language and had outlandish manners. It has come to mean a rude, crude, untutored, uncultured, cruel, almost savage person who is ignorant of civilized customs and human dignity. Surely it describes the Welsh and the Scots. How dare you sir! Who on earth was your vieled attack on Darius? 'for it's Tommy this, an' Tommy that, an' "chuck 'im out, the brute!" But it's "saviour of 'is country" when the guns begin to shoot.'
  22. From the Government! Fascinating - Nexus & Conspiracytimes.com have now been added to my favourites. Life well never be the same again.
  23. As of the 16th June, 151. 'for it's Tommy this, an' Tommy that, an' "chuck 'im out, the brute!" But it's "saviour of 'is country" when the guns begin to shoot.'
  24. Of course - I wonder if he'd had some insight into how Iraq would turn out post war, would he have done things differently? Jaques Chiraic insisted there would be a civil war back in 2002 - whilst Blairs reply, to somebody else as he left the room; "He just doesn't get, does he?" (Chiraic) Oh dear. And look at all the hatred that was poured on France for failing to side with America. It was said recently how Britian, 'not siding with the US would have seismic. It would have entailed a complete reversal of British foreign policy and a dash to become more deeply enmeshed in the EU.' So what!? 'The Bush Administration were sympathetic to the political pressure that Blair was under; they assured him that there would be no animosity should Blair decide not to participate.' I wonder what Gordon Browns Iraq policy will be. As for Blair, here's part of a Kipling poem, somebody quoted for him regarding how he'll be remembered: 'And the end of the fight is a tombstone white With the name of the late deceased. And the epitaph drear "A fool lies here Who tried to hustle the east". 'for it's Tommy this, an' Tommy that, an' "chuck 'im out, the brute!" But it's "saviour of 'is country" when the guns begin to shoot.'
  25. Haven't you got an option to date all of them?
