I'd compare it to inter-club competition. 'for it's Tommy this, an' Tommy that, an' "chuck 'im out, the brute!" But it's "saviour of 'is country" when the guns begin to shoot.' -

Who gives the therapists therapy? Who guards the guards? Having experience of a clients mental issue doesn't necessarily give the 'therapist' the right to diagnose and provide what they believe to be the correct remedy. Years ago I had an interest in what I call abnormal psychology, whether it was psychosis or paranioa, it didn't matter. I applied it to the people I knew at the time; the unemployed, criminal drug abusers. These were the people within my social circle. At the time I thought I was quite the clever clogs - it took a while to realise the infinite variables which apply to us all makes this topic something you could dedicate a lifetime to, and still be scratching at the surface. I think most therapists out there are essentially trying to make ends meet like us all. If they achieve a client gaining a better insight into themselves then great. If they don't - bugger, one less customer. 'for it's Tommy this, an' Tommy that, an' "chuck 'im out, the brute!" But it's "saviour of 'is country" when the guns begin to shoot.' -
Ah, but it is - registration would prevent the rifles being so accessible to the youngsters. Therefore it is necessary. Simple really. 'for it's Tommy this, an' Tommy that, an' "chuck 'im out, the brute!" But it's "saviour of 'is country" when the guns begin to shoot.'

Well, that's funny enough I suppose, but really. Do you really know so many clueless people? I know of a few idiots myself, but they're all 'self-aware.' I'd perhaps reconsider the people you think are so clueless. How do you know so many? Is it in relation to your social circle or what? Either way - self help? - it's available to everybody. 'for it's Tommy this, an' Tommy that, an' "chuck 'im out, the brute!" But it's "saviour of 'is country" when the guns begin to shoot.' -
Nah, in my example the individual is caught with the rifle. Whoever has it registered, such as someone above the age of 21, has some explaining to do then hasn't he? Why's this kid cutting around shooting Farmer Browns bull in the nuts, at 10 years old, with a weapon registered to yourself? The point I made earlier remains!
-
Yes, that's right John. But you have now highlighted the point I made earlier. Using the 'Sun' as your source was detrimental to the point you were trying to make. It took the attention away. Naturally your not exactly happy with this. It's all down to the presentation! I'm sure you'd find it easier to present your point using a less notorious source. People would then give it the attention you feel it deserves, whether you feel the 'notorious' source is wrong or right. 'for it's Tommy this, an' Tommy that, an' "chuck 'im out, the brute!" Makes a good and dramatic story though - which in itself generates interest, which generates wealth. 'for it's Tommy this, an' Tommy that, an' "chuck 'im out, the brute!" But it's "saviour of 'is country" when the guns begin to shoot.' -

People should try self help prior to dealing with a therapist. Nobody knows you better than yourself - and it's important people can learn to be objective enough to look within themselves, and use their time to become more conscious of their issues. And naturally be more able to deal with these issues. It would save a lot of time and money pissing around with some quack who might mean well, but won't have your interests and understanding at heart - like you do. When self help isn't achieving the aim, then go ahead and see a therapist. But I'd recommend caution. I know of several people having a few issues with 'therapists.' One chap eventually managed to prevent himself being committed and discharged from the military, so on issue of a 'certificate of sanity,' framed it, and kept it in his office. 'for it's Tommy this, an' Tommy that, an' "chuck 'im out, the brute!" But it's "saviour of 'is country" when the guns begin to shoot.' -
That's exactly what's happening in the UK. Our PM promised 3 million new houses built within the next 10 years or so, to deal with the problem. Can't exactly see that happening. Only first time buyers will be the people who will benefit. So it won't happen. 'for it's Tommy this, an' Tommy that, an' "chuck 'im out, the brute!" Surely you can see it simply for what it is!? The powerful will naturally be rich in Western society. They'll send their children to the best schools, colleges, and universities such as Harvard. And guess what, over the years they'll establish themselves a little 'gentlemans' club. Guess who gets to join? Guess who'll end up in the powerful, wealth accumulating positions? It's not exactly a secret, is it? It's powerful people looking out for their personal and families interests, in remaining rich and powerful. Bit of a pisser when it manifests itself in foreign policy and as usual the innocent take a bite out of the 'shit sandwich.' In fact, it's postively outrageous. 'for it's Tommy this, an' Tommy that, an' "chuck 'im out, the brute!" But it's "saviour of 'is country" when the guns begin to shoot.' -

Respecting your poll, I think air gun owners should register. When I was 10 years old, there was about 6 of us who owned air rifles, without our parents knowledge or consent. Imagine the destruction 6 silly wee boys can cause with such weapons? At the very least, when wee bastards get caught shooting Farmer Brown's bull in the nuts, the police can then seek the registered owner. Air rifles will be less likely to fall into the hands of those who shouldn't have them. 'for it's Tommy this, an' Tommy that, an' "chuck 'im out, the brute!" Very, very true. It's also important for the person stating his argument to try and make his point and his source of a good nature. Using a tabloid newspaper of poor reputation (as a source), to try and make a sensible point isn't really going to present itself as sensible is it? So then you're setting off on the wrong foot, 'int 'cha? 'for it's Tommy this, an' Tommy that, an' "chuck 'im out, the brute!" But it's "saviour of 'is country" when the guns begin to shoot.'

Indeed. It's like the old saying; 'How can you tell if there is a pilot on the room?' 'Because he/she'll tell you.' -
Man, the verbal battles we had in that car! We both agreed a professional instructor would be the way forward, for the sake of our and the cars health. We hadn't been long married, and despite English not being her natural language, the variety of the swearwords was astounding. 'for it's Tommy this, an' Tommy that, an' "chuck 'im out, the brute!" The problem of debt relates to our wealth accumulation society. Over here, people are positively encouraged to get in more debt. Not just through the encouragement to buy, but also the encouragement to consolidate and get more credit cards or personal loans. We might have it better than our parents had, in regards to material wealth such as dishwashers and 52" plasma/LCD TV's and what have you, but we're certainly unhappier. These days happiness generally relates to good health and wealth, or at least, being free of debt. I wonder how many properly poor people out there are sincerely happy? Essentially, it seems around 50 or so years ago, families could be poor and relatively happy. These days? Not very. So for me, I'd say middle class people are the happy people. I was once teaching my Mrs to drive. We were perhaps going along at 50mph and I asked her why she was sitting so close to the wheel, arms bent at 90 degrees, face almost touching the windscreen. "To aim the car along the lane!" Yeek. 'for it's Tommy this, an' Tommy that, an' "chuck 'im out, the brute!" But it's "saviour of 'is country" when the guns begin to shoot.'
