alright.. we have made our reservations.. we are flying to Orlando on the 27th.. driving to Tampa to pick up my shiny new Icon/Pilot/Smart rigs on the 28th and then directly to Z Hills to have them assembled.. I'll bring my Wings so I can jump immediately upon arrival.. See you all next Wednesday..

AFF - $1,200 case of beer for graduation.. $20 app. 25 jumps with rental gear.. $1,000 4 or 5 of those being coach jumps.. $200 A license... $45 beer for getting A license.. $20 new to you used rig with cypress.. $2,300 jumpsuit, helmet, alti.. $600 beer for jumping your own gear.. $20 So.. $5,405 to get a shiny new A license, about 35 jumps and some good used gear. then every weekend and half your income for the rest of your life.. until you figure out you need to cut the costs and become staff somewhere.. then the bleeding slows.. but it takes about 500 jumps before you can start jumping for $$ so figure another $9,000 in jumps, $500 in beer and another $5,000 in equipment. Yup.. that's about it.. $20k to get to the point where it costs alot less to skydive.. Course, that would be the less expensive route.. The more expensive route.. You could buy all new gear... 2 rigs, 3 jumpsuits, 3 helmets, 2 dytters, video camera, altimeter, digital still camera, misc. lenses, gear bag, etc.. $18,000.. and get lotsa coaching and go to all the boogies.. $25,000.. and spend $43,000 doing your first 500 jumps.. and just screw that whole idea of ever becoming a working skydiver.. Most people do something in between..

I log every few weeks.. clicking away at my ProTrack so I get the correct dates and freefall times.. I try to log quicker after I do some AFF as it is important to me to keep track and stay current for rating renewal..

Why choose between those 2 very different canopies? There are alot of options out there. Sabre 2 is a nine-cell semi-elliptical.. longer glide than the Spectre.. If that is what you are looking for, also consider the Aerodyne Pilot and the Icarus Safire 2. The Spectre is a seven cell.. If that is what you want, also consider the Aerodyne Triathlon. Any of these canopies are great for flying camera. But do consider all the options before plunking down the cash for a new canopy. Personally, I have a few hundred jumps on a Spectre, 150 on a Sabre 2, 600 on Stilettos but am anxiously waiting for my new Pilots to be shipped to me. If I'm not mistaken, although they would make much less if anything at all on those types of sales, most gear dealers would love to help someone with that transaction. A container leads to parachutes, cypresses, jumpsuits, alitmeters, logbooks, etc. These are valuable relationships. I am sure Bonnie at Gravity Gear (www.gravitygear.com) would as she values developing relationships with her customers.. not just making a buck on the first sale.. chopchop gotta go... You could print out a few pics at the dz but that would take a little time, picking a shot, hooking up to the printer, etc. With the nifty little machine like the one shown above, you just shove your flash card and a cd in, hit the button and when the cd pops out, hand it to the customer. It does all the work while you do other things.. In Byron, our dubber handles it while we start preparing for the next load. There is a ton of info on here about the digital rebel. I believe the bodies can be had for around $600 now. They are dropping fast.. If you want to go big, for $1,500, get the 20D.. but that's a whole nother thread.. chopchop gotta go...
