  6. I travel with my gear often, mostly SFO or Oakland to Orlando and have never had a problem.. Once they had to call a supervisor because they were unsure but it turned out fine. The last time, last Tuesday at SFO, the TSA guy taught a newer checker how to inspect a rig and allowed me to point out the nadles and what not to do.. I felt good that they were taking an interest and seemed to care about what they were doing. Now, with then new rules of having to take your video cameras out, I got some real interesting looks and comments when I pulled out my camera helmet and put that in a bin since my video camera was still on it. It's too bad that after all this time, there are still some TSA agents that aren't up on skydiving gear but I believe they will get there.. Edited to add.. I have checked my gear many times as well without issue but for a while, I would hang around the area where they put it through the big machines to see if they freaked.. and be there is they did.

  10. Na! He could care less.... He'd probably sell me for some jump tickets... So Roy........how about a day of free jumping in trade for a night of fun ONE DAY! What kind of ghetto pimp-daddy do you think I am that I would trade Lany for a whole night for what amounts to less than $200?!?! chopchop gotta go... Plaything needs a spanking.. Lotsa Pictures

  12. I am not defending their tactics. I don't think they should be as misleading as they are. But as JP said. if they used their own images, represented themselves as a resellerworking with contractors instead of trying to give the impression that the Skyride network of dropzones as all one company, and got rid of that skydive association page where they pretend to be an authority of some sort, I would have no prooblem at all with their business model. As a business owner with multiple resellers making nice margins on my products and services, I don't look at my resellers at parasites as someone on here referred to Skyride, I look at them as my marketing partners. There is a cost to what these people provide. There are costs to setting up and maintaining websites, phone systems, having the phones answered by someone reasonably knowledgeable, other marketing to keep the phones ringing and keeping up with the paper generated. How is Skyride so different? chopchop gotta go... Plaything needs a spanking.. Lotsa Pictures
  13. Ditto.. but spell-checked.. Although not spelled very well, JP, very well put. And there is some old saying in the back of my head when I read this thread.. something about "Don't hate the player, hate the game." Bottom line is while they may be bending some rules, they seem to be playing the game very well.. good on them. Flame away. chopchop gotta go... Plaything needs a spanking.. Lotsa Pictures
  14. doesn't matter.. that's plenty.. and they are all warm.. all winter.. see you guys at one of them this winter.. chopchop gotta go... Plaything needs a spanking.. Lotsa Pictures
  15. What the other guys said.. Not only won't the student even know you are there but if they do notice, it'll probably be for a bad reason. AFF jumps are no place for lurkers. A skilled videot looking to get his rating in the near future, possibly.. otherwise.. there is no point in it.. and it adds another factor to an already unpredictable skydive. Have fun jumping with your friend after he / she is stable and aware..
  16. Contact Bonnie (gravitygirl on here) at Gravity Gear - www.gravitygear.com.. She keeps up on things like that. AND she absolutely loves putting skydivers under Pilots. chopchop gotta go... Plaything needs a spanking.. Lotsa Pictures
  17. As well it should.. The Pilot is a great canopy. With over 1,300 jumps, I enjoy jumping a Pilot at a 1.9 wingloading. With 30 jumps, you can jump one safely at a much lower wingloading.. As you progress, you can stay on the same canopy, only getting smaller one to gain more performance, instead of changing wings and relearning a different canopy.. Once again, I say.. The Pilot is a great all-around canopy. chopchop gotta go... Plaything needs a spanking.. Lotsa Pictures
  18. I jumped the Vision..a Vision 140 loaded at 1.9. Fast, fast, fast.. and ground hungry. It was way fun but I didn't want to get worn out hanging on my rears all day coming back from long spots.. so I went with Pilots.. This is after 600 jumps on Stiletto 150s loaded at 1.8.. chopchop gotta go... Plaything needs a spanking.. Lotsa Pictures
  19. I have to agree with you about the Pilot being comparable to a Stiletto in many ways. More docile.. a little less responsive to both riser and toggle input but just as fast, nice swoops and an awesome flare. In the 14 jumps I put on Pilots (10 on a 150 and 4 on a 140), before ordering 2 to replace my Stilettos, I came to the conclusion that I'll be able to outswoop my Stilettos on them and still have plenty of lift at the end. chopchop gotta go... 20. :14:0 7 tandem vids, 1 AFF, 1 hybrid, and 5 freefly.. 1 of the freefly was a tube jump for my 1,300th
  21. Location.. Facilities.. unusual landing area.. My favorite boogies i have traveled to were the San Carlos boogie and the Blue Water River Boogie. Both of them we got to stay in a nice hotel and land at the hotel. In San Carlos, it was on the beach and in Parker, it was in a small amphitheater behond the hotel by the river. I enjoy having a nice room with a private shower after jumping all day and the scenery under canopy.. not to mention the adoring crowds of whuffos.. chopchop gotta go... Plaything needs a spanking.. 22. I took a long trip.. 3 weekends of no jumping.. Byron tomorrow!
  23. My last rig purchase cost me $2,100. I pieced it together but ended up with a pretty nice rig. Wings container few years old with 1,000 jumps on it ($450), the PD reserve that was in it had 4 jumps on it ($500), a used cypress from Gravity Gear ($600) and a Stiletto 150 ($250) with 1,000 jumps on it that needed a reline ($200). Including reline and a repack, i ended up at just under $2,100. I bought it as a backup rig so I could stay busy on the video wheel at my dz. Probably put 200 jumps on it this past summer, jumping it as much as my Voodoo. Took me about a month to get all the parts and get it assembled. If you have all winter, shop, pick up the parts and peices you need as you see good deals. Make sure you buy what is appropriate for your experience but if you have time and little $$, take the time and piece it together. Use the rest for jump tickets. Edited to add: The equipment you listed in that bundle is excellent equipment and will treat you right, should you decide to part with the $$ go buy new. chopchop gotta go...
