getting from the DZ and the city is not a problem, there are a lot of taxis which are pretty cheap (and they drive faster than you freefall...) the bunkhouse are being built now and they should be fine too. i will stay in the hotel mainly for the comfort of going out to eat in one of the fine (3) restaurants but really, i think either option would be good. Low timers giving advice to newbies???
falxori replied to darrenspooner's topic in General Skydiving Discussions
you did ok. we all give advices even when we don't mean to do it. it is important, however, that both sides knows who is giving the advice and who is receiving it. i don't see anything wrong with exchanging views as long as you point out that you are no expert, this is your own understanding, and he/she should talk to an instructor too. when i was new i've heard a few stupid advices too and since not everyone point out that they are no pros, its also the responsibility of the one hearing the advice to know who is giving it... you might "not be invaded", but if country A has a declared goal to destroy country B, i'm not sure it worries about getting invaded. more likely it will focus on offensive rather than defensive measures. and if you consider Iran's and Syria's MO up until now, they rarely attacked israel directly. they arm, support and send others to do their job for them. we've discussed it before, the more likely scenario is a nuke or a "dirty bomb" going off without a clear return address. hmmm, so its a good time to thank him because his rig helped me when i designed mine mental note: next time check other posts... O "Carpe diem, quam minimum credula postero."

i dont have a pic here (just got my rig and its at my rigger's plac) but, i have the Variegated design with purple and silver and it looks really cool. the attached pic is not my rig, but i've found it in one of the threads when i was designing mine. hope it helps ( and the rig is black) O "Carpe diem, quam minimum credula postero."

that's basically what i did. i did my own research and asked for a quote on a specific list of items. i never said profit is bad. but its a market, not charity. like any other market, a combination of good deals and customer service will bring you more business. not at all. its part of their line of work to prepare an offer and sometimes not get the deal. the company i work for (communications) can spend a LOT of time and money answering RFPs and not get chosen for the project. its part of the business. i did not "use" their offers. i got an offer and added it to a list of other factors. on my first rig, i got a special discount offer on the container from another dealer and ended up buying the container from him and the rest (2 canopies+cypress) from my local dealer. on my new rig the difference wasn't much so i paid slightly more and bought from my local dealer (as i said, if the price is close i'd rather buy local) just so you know, once you know what you want, most of the dealer's work is (1+2+3+4)*0.X with a small variance on the % from retail price. you could say that its not worth 10-15% profit on a rig (assuming you already know what you want.) sometimes rig popularity is based on more than just its quality. sometimes its tradition of the DZ or maybe this specific dealer gets better deals from this company etc. i dont know much about the pilot (heard its similar to saber2) but i know i just loved my sabre2 O "Carpe diem, quam minimum credula postero."

once i knew what i'm going to buy (sort of), i got a few offers from 2 dealers i've ordered from before and then went talking to my local dealer. if the offers are similar, i'd go with your local dealer for the reasons mentioned earlier. if you have a better offer, talk to your local dealer about it. he might be willing to cut his profits a little bit and match (or even exceed) the offer you have. thats what i did and i got a good price, good service and if i have to spend so much money, i'd rather someone i know benefit from it pay attention, just like any other dealer based market, different people may get different offers. if the us hadn't stepped in europe (starting with endless supply shipments to the UK), the UK wouldn't have lasted. and Italy was not "neutral" either... "Carpe diem, quam minimum credula postero."

no argue there. i do not think Iran will nuke anyone as soon as they can. my fear, as i've mentioned in other posts, is that nukes or other radioactive materials will find their way into the hands of groups with no return address... and countries like Iran who openly call for the destruction of other countries and who arm and support such groups are a major threat. Travel Insurance That Includes Skydiving
falxori replied to craigwalsh's topic in General Skydiving Discussions
make sure that the "skydiving" mentioned in the policy is not tandem only. there was a policy i've checked which included skydiving and other extreme sports, but the fine print said it was only "instructor assisted skydiving". O "Carpe diem, quam minimum credula postero." -
yeap. we have 2 DZ's. both about 1-1.5 hours from Tel-Aviv. they usually operate 3-4 days a week. i'd be happy to help you with any info you need. you'll find nice people that will welcome you in both. PM me with any questions you have and i'll do my best to help. Ori "Carpe diem, quam minimum credula postero."

so what's stopping you? /o "Carpe diem, quam minimum credula postero."

ok, how about these two? i assume the bright yellow with a purple background will look good from the ground, but i can't find any pics of something similar... "Carpe diem, quam minimum credula postero."

yes and no. lebanon used to be a wonderful country. it was considered to be the switzerland of the ME and my grandparents used to go skiing there... too many factors messed up things there. the palestinians (with arafat) made it their home base after they were kicked out of jordan. then the civil war destroyed most of what was left there and israel had to take control of southern lebanon when it was used for terrorist activities in the 80's. Syria has no business in lebanon, thats obvious but as some have mentioned here, these things need to be done in a smart way. if they just pull out, in the resulting mess hezbollah might become the most powerful force there and compared to syria which sponsers terrorism, they ARE terrorism. Democracy is blessed, but you must understand that in the ME, sometimes its very dangerous. almost all arab countries (SH's Iraq, Jordan, and even Syria) are ruled by a minority. i'm not so sure that if Jordan and egypt were democratic, their peace with israel would exist. Israel is not a player in the lebanese mess right now, but since hezbollah is at our border and it is armed to the teeth by iran and syria, everything that goes on there worries us. lets hope they wont be dragged back to a bloody civil war. and you are welcome to visit us (on a clear day you can actually see lebanon from 12,000 ft...) and yet, they supprt and fund thos same islamic militants and terrorists when they attack israel. it is resolved. even the UN which is not exactly known as Israel's best friend had declared that israel as followed the UN resolution regarding lebanon. O "Carpe diem, quam minimum credula postero."

actions such as the terror attack in a night club in tel-aviv that was ordered by the islamic jihad's HQ located and sponsered by syria? how i love it when people do business with things that are not theirs to give away... why does israel has to pay a tribute to syria for pulling out its forces out of lebanon after (together with the palestinians) destroying this country? i didnt consider myself to be a neon yellow kind of guy, but it actually looks pretty good with purple... how's that for the rig (not sure about the grey part yet)? the canopy is still a work in progress, so if you have a cool design that will match, you get a free ride next time we're at the same DZ "Carpe diem, quam minimum credula postero."

Hey. i will, but in July its a problem. are you joining us this time? although we've decided not to try and organize the coaching this time, you can come by yourself and coach people there (and be free to chose when and how many... ) let me know if you can and i'll give you the details O "Carpe diem, quam minimum credula postero."

it was by the islamic jihad which HQ is located in syria and is funded by syria and Iran. O "Carpe diem, quam minimum credula postero."

Hi. looking for some help designing my next canopy. it will probably be a stiletto and i'm looking for either: 1) neon blue + silver based or 2) purple/blackberry + silver based. i'm afraid blue/grey will be hard to spot by others, but with another color it might be ok. my container will be either silver/neon blue or the same with purple. feel free to go crazy O "Carpe diem, quam minimum credula postero."
