    water landings

That would work on lakes or fjords, with rescue boats on stanby. But I have to consider there might be 15'+ waves and currents. The wings fill with water the same way they fill with air and they are gonna pull me down. So Im getting out of the suit as fast as I can. HISPA #93 DS #419.5

    water landings

My home DZ is very close to the ocean and swamps/lagoons so I always have this on my mind.... If I see theres a chance that Im landing on the water I will unzip everything and undo the chest strap while still under canopy... But since you are all zipped up, Ill asume there was no time for undoing the chest strap? So this is what I would do asuming I still have everything on. First scenario I would take a big breath of air right before going in, once underwater I would unzip everything the way I know is the fastest way in my particular WS and loosen the legs straps. I estimate that will take less than 10 seconds. Then with free legs I would swim to the surface with my arm up the way we are taught in water landing trainning and get another breath of air. Then undo chest strap wich takes me about 10 more secs. Slow is fast. Then get off the rig the way I know is the fastest way and swim underwater away from the gear. Second scenario. Big breath of air, then underwater Ill loosen leg straps, undo chest strap, and swim away from gear. Loosening leg straps take less than 1 second if you know how. Oh and dont forget to flare! 3. Hey dont worry! After only 75 wingsuit jumps you are considered an EXPERT pilot and you can easily fly the XBird....just ask the manufacturer! HISPA #93 DS #419.5
  4. Oh yeah nice advice.. Hey fatties, how about you take exercise if you want to be lighter? But that's not so easy to do is it eh? How about some real advice, like adding lead instead of this witty shit.. How many smileys do I need to make it clear it was a fucking joke? Lead? really? STFU (no smileys) HISPA #93 DS #419.5
  5. How many times have you landed out on the 150? Downwind on the pavement, between lions and cocodriles? seriously, you came asking for advice...take it ...if you want more loading, eat more HISPA #93 DS #419.5
  6. What you were told its certanly not the best or easiest way to exit. Ive done about 100+ WS jumps from a C182 this way: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=pO7U_JUIa0w Its a boring video trying out a camera angle...you can fast forward to 1:00 I think there is more to say about that jump, but Ill let the experts get on that. Good luck with your 3rd HISPA #93 DS #419.5
  7. Are the tabs or rings of your slinks tucked inside the risers? Looks like a line from the the left side was caught on something at the top of the left side risers. So it wasnt caught on the guide ring or the toggle. And this happened when the line twist reached the risers. So my guess is line trapped in slink tab/ring with slider helping to keep it trapped? 8. My friend that got me in the sport did exactly that. It was around his 25th jump. Dislocated right shoulder on exit, tumbling in freefall while he was pushing the pilot chute out of BOC with his left hand. He managed to get the main out and then flying and flaring with both toggles in left hand. Same shoulder dislocated on another jump after that, and he went straight to reserve. Flew and landed the reserve the same way, both toggles in left hand. He quit jumping after that. HISPA #93 DS #419.5
  9. Maybe its in Humacao? Theres video on YouTube of it flying in Humacao, July 2009. Plus I was informed by someone who works for the aircraft owner that it was still there. Yes, thats my boring video. I corrected the date on the description, read the date it was posted, it was on July 2008 . I noticed the typo right after uploading it. so yeah, pretty sure the plane is not here...and if it is, is not flying jumpers. HISPA #93 DS #419.5
  10. Not that it matters, but that plane left PR about a year ago, maybe more. HISPA #93 DS #419.5
  11. So after 180 views nobody has anything to say. That leaves 2 options: a. People like to beleive they are "experts" after 75 jumps. b. I'm a pussy. I dont have a problem with neither. That makes me a "3X expert pussy"! yay!!! ....and here I thought I still had stuff to learn! HISPA #93 DS #419.5
  12. Niiiice improvement! I got an opinion about the jumps recomendation for the different suits. Obviously who ever wrote it knows A LOT more about WS than me, maybe it was Jeff or Justin or Tony, but common. 25 WS jumps makes someone an advance pilot?...With 75 you are an expert??? Myself, I got around 200 WS flights and I consider Im Intermediate. I dont mind trying the T or R-Bird but I wouldnt think about jumping an S-Bird or X-Bird right now. What do you guys think? What am I missing? HISPA #93 DS #419.5
  13. This are gay twist compared to the one in your video, but you get the idea of what I use, and how quick the untwisting starts. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=4Om6UlZOCMQ HISPA #93 DS #419.5
  14. I havent had the chance to try it yet, but it makes sense to me. Very easy to explain in person, but Ill give it a try here. Visualize doing a barell roll in the direction of the untwist, using the relative wind of the horizontal movement of the canopy? hahah english is not my first language either So...if you are looking forward (on heading), and your line twist are to the left, open right arm wing to catch some air to untwist you to the right. And close the wing before rotating 180*, or its gonna stop the rotation you started. If you are looking back (180 off heading), youll have to open the left arm wing to untwist to the right. I guess keeping the leg wing closed will make it easier. Hope it makes sense to you. Anyone here uses that technique often? Does it works as good as it sounds? I've used the 'squeeze risers together' technique for the last 6-8 linetwist and it works fast. HISPA #93 DS #419.5
  15. Hi I need a rigger to make a big patch or to replace a piece of top skin on one cell on my main and was hoping to find someone here or maybe one of you can recomend one. A friend borrow my gear and he landed too close to a fence, the canopy fell on the fence and you can figure out the rest. What I want to do is send the canopy and get a quote, so I can tell my friend how much $$$, a he's gonna cover all the cost. So if you can do it, or know someone with experience in those kind of repairs, please let me know or give me his contact info. Thanks HISPA #93 DS #419.5
  16. If you are going to buy a Stroboframe, they are $35 on eBay. HISPA #93 DS #419.5
  17. Yep, the west end of the runway covered in grass. It was closed for landing on Saturday because of a church activity, but I dont remember seeing anyone landing there the other 4 days. The main landing area sucked, I agree there. What Im saying is that there were options and alternate landing areas, and people didnt use them. I made all my jumps on the beach except 1 were I choose to land on a close by field. I was offered a ride before I could pick up my canopy, and that was the case for everyone who landed out. Locals were fighting to give us rides and take pictures. And thats all I have to say
  18. Forgot to mention. There was the option of the grassy field west of the runway, on the other side of the parking. But that would mean you have to walk for 2 minutes HISPA #93 DS #419.5
  19. I agree it sucked, remember this was a forest 2 weeks ago, but 100' wide x 1000'+ long is not small for any license. If some people get fixated on landing close to the packing tents and they didnt have the skill, thats their bad decission. I guess some people didnt looked or understand the aerial picture showing the loooong landing area. I did all my jumps at the beach, and it was closed for a few hours because the tide, mixed with the big swell was making the landing zone narrower, not because of low timers crashing. When the tide stopped coming up, the beach was open again. The winds, when they were a factor (10mph+), were parallel to the runway and the beach. The few times when it was variable it was slow enough to not make any difference if they were cross or not. Anyway, landing patterns were discussed in the loading tent prior to boarding the plane on ALL my jumps, and it was repeated many many times thru the speakers at the DZ, if they decided to go againts the plan thats their bad decission again. They should know not to board the plane if they are not comfortable with 5mph cross wind landings. Agreed. Good decission. Over here you pay for the ride up, not for the jump. I thought it was like that everywhere else. HISPA #93 DS #419.5
  20. it's only a 2min drive to the beach and I have a truck were we could fit about 8 people in the back. We just need a driver. HISPA #93 DS #419.5
  21. Interesting... I usually use up all my altitude upon landing. What will you do with the altitude you have leftover? And YES, I support beach jumps every time. Ahh man! You know what I tried to say! :p HISPA #93 DS #419.5
  22. Did a WS jump yesterday in this new location. With a normal jumprun over the DZ, I did a big L shape pattern flying south for about 1 minute and then 1 minute to the west and landed on the beach with plenty of spare altitude. I think WS loads can be beach jumps everytime without asking for special jumpruns. You people are gonna love this place! I was the first person ever landing on this beach, thanks to my wingsuit! :) HISPA #93 DS #419.5
  23. I was gonna remind you about the wind direction, but you edited So yes, wind comes form the east like in Arecibo. Thats my plan. Considering the beach landing area is only 1 mile away, I dont see any reason not to do 5 beach jumps a day. Heres a 1 minute video of the 4 hours I spent on the roller today. You can see its already been cleared and we are working on the conditioning. The place was abandoned for 20yrs+ http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=SN_Bl7Z6Ih8 HISPA #93 DS #419.5
  24. I havent check for power lines, but if you look in google earth there are some big open fields east, west, and south of the location. Nothing to the north. HISPA #93 DS #419.5
  25. This area has been cleared and is getting conditioned right now. Its about 2000' x 300' .... HISPA #93 DS #419.5
